  1. Oh I understand the theory behind it, but for preparation purposes I think it would be better if your scrimmage was as close to being your next opponent as possible.  I agree it is great for Kirbyville.  Head coaches decision.  Different strokes for different folks.
  2. Why scrimmage a much smaller school?  It helps Kville, but I do not see the point.  You are getting ready for WB!  Play somebody who can help you prepare.
  3. Yea, I know but I was hoping to get another "last game at Durley" towel to add to the one from last year.
  4. Durley, wait a minute, Butch, uhhh back to Durley.  Whatever, I'm going to see Brook beat Ozen AGAIN!
  5. When people from Houston when they ask how to get to the "educational support center", I tell them just look carefully when you come over the Winnie overpass and you can read the name.
  6. Testing all the students would be a logistical nightmare for a large school.  The school generally gets notification very shortly before the sample is taken.  For a large school all students in athletics means hundreds of students.  The school personnel are used to "proctor" and UIL supervises.  It means substitutes for teachers, coaches, etc and an intrusion on the school day.  I am not sure of the "random nature" of the tests.  WB has been tested 3 years in a row, and strangely enough Christine Michael was randomly selected his junior and senior years.
  7. I will go with Stump as he runs a great program.  West Brook is the red headed stepchild of BISD with very little support from downtown.  Five of the starting players from Central and Ozen wanted to be at WB, but they were refused transfers out of middle school while others received them.  His facilities lag far behind the other 5a schools in the area and even the 4a schools in BISD.  However, he consistently wins.  And he wins without letting the standards for behavior of his students slip below outstanding.
  8. WB spring game May 21st.  Pep rally that day for the spring sports and the spring game.
  9. How about selling the naming rights and using the money for the athletic program?
  10. The main problem I have with the naming is the loss of revenue.  They could have sold the naming rights to the complex and then named the field after him if that is what they decided to do.  Motiva, Goodyear, etc probably would have paid money to have their name on the complex.  Poor thinking by the board.
  11. Congratulations to the Lady Bruins and Coach Abshire.  5A state champions!
  12. 21 5a  WB boys and girls made the playoffs.  The girls were champions 2nd year in a row.
  13. WB boys - Monday, March 22nd 5:30 PM Stallworth Stadium in Baytown WB girls - Monday, March 22nd following the boys game, Stallworth Stadium in Baytown
  14. You are right.  There are probably less of the true 6A schools than there once were.  West Brook is D1 by 7 students.  However, I think the D2 schools were as good if not better than the D1s this year.
  15. I believe WB will play Ozen, Central, Tyler Lee, Katy, Aldine Eisenhower.
  16. Next year, all the way WB.  Get your tickets now, I think they will be in short supply when the season starts. Good job by all the teams.  Hopefully Ozen can continue to improve and make the playoffs.
  17. The problem was not the noise, not the play calling.  The problem was mental mistakes.  One was on the kickoff when number 10 backed up and then basically ducked leaving 23 out there.  There were others. I do agree the band could improve.  It is my understanding that the Principal and band directors spoke this morning.    He also provided buses and tickets for students that wanted to go to the games.  WB plans on doing that for all away games and playoffs next year.  I know the principal and he is pretty good about returning emails. Reyes is a good quarterback, but he missed some reads.  His first pass he threw out to the flat was almost intercepted.  A receiver was wide open in the middle where the backer had vacated cheating toward the flat.  The same read was missed on second down on the no touchdown drive that ended at the goal line.  There were a few other "what the ?" plays.  The main difference in this game and the Hightower game was turnovers.  WB was not the better team on Saturday. WB loses basically one player on offense and 3 on defense.  In addition, hopefully with redistricting, they go division 2 next year. All that being said, this team is still the "Rocky" team.  They get up and come back at you.  Remember, Rocky did not win the title till the second movie,...
  18. West Brook had trouble with Hightower's running game, but they won.  I see this one as another game where heart, conditioning and coaching win in the end.  West Brook 27  Cinco Ranch 24.
  19. After the first drive by WB, I heard the Hightower's coaches sphincters tighten.  The players do not stop, they do not give up and they play as a team.  The last two games the school has taken students who wanted to go on buses and paid for their tickets.  They are going to do that again. Great game, heart and conditioning take the game.
  20. West Brook is returning almost all their starters and will probably be div. 2 next year.  Look for great things.
  21. Jeremy Cooper, Josh Wilson, DeQuane Bennett, Garret Chatman, Devin Williams, Taylor Barrows are seniors that get quite a bit of playing time.  I think they list about 23 seniors, but most do not play much.
  22. West Brook - District Champs, Bi-district champs in Div. 1, and I give them a good chance in this game.  They are only losing 6 starters on this team for next year.  Ozen's finest better start changing predictions or get on board.  You does not make your school better because other's lose.
  23. Props to WB.  The "Rocky" start has led to great things and people are noticing.  Proves there is no such thing as a rebuilding year.
