  1. Westfield was a foregone conclusion with so many players out sick. One problem WB has is that it starts the season against 4A opponents and then jumps into the fire. I do not see them playing Eisenhower in the future. On the other hand Central is helped by playing WB and Memorial. They were ready for Vidor while Vidor was not ready having played weaker opponents. That being said West Brook's program continues to develop the young players and they make the playoffs being 2nd or 3rd in district.
  2. WB has to beat two teams in 21 5A to make the playoffs. They will make the playoffs 6-4 or 5-5. North Shore, WB and Memorial make the playoffs. After that it is probably Sterling. WB's execution is better with less mental mistakes than at the beginning of the season. They are becoming a varsity squad as opposed to a talented JV team. One or two deep in the playoffs this year. If Ozen can beat LCM, they are in.
  3. I am hearing that GCM is going 5A next year with Lee dropping to 4A. Anybody confirm?
  4. Mental errors, but they are decreasing. The starting line had 2 out. WB played a great 1st but was worn down in the second half. The pick 6 seemed to have Reyes rattled and his timing was off. The point of playing good teams is to get better, and they have. They will be fine for district and better next year. At this point they are a much better team than the first two weeks. Teams that play a very easy pre-district schedule are often surprised the first district game. It means nothing to be undefeated in pre-district and then lose in district. They will go to the playoffs 6-4 or maybe 5-5.
  5. This is a quantum leap up from Eisenhower and even Westfield. The key is continuing to eliminate mental errors. The errors were not eliminated against Eisenhower, but there were less errors. At WB's best it would take a very unlikely chain of events for them to stay on the field with Katy. I see this as an opportunity for growth. They will be fine for District provided they limit injuries. Katy by 35.
  6. I have heard that Ike's line is large, but slow. They seem to depend on the qb. Hopefully scramble drills and a full time spy are in the works. I also heard that WB lost another player to injury yesterday.
  7. I believe their nose tackle has already committed to a D1 school. Their quarterback is a "waterbug" and will be tough to tackle. Once again, the loss of J Jackson will be big.
  8. In any case, West Brook is playing a good 5A squad that has lost to Hightower and North Shore. I think that Brook can stay with them if they play as they have been coached. The receivers have to run the routes and not leave Reyes hung up. Reyes is getting better, although he still sometimes runs when he should pass and passes when he should run. Not a real prediction, but if they play as they should they could win a close one. Otherwise, another blowout.
  9. West Brook can accept no one outside of their feeder zone at this time due to the bond issue. There is a waiting list of almost 200 to get in. The others can accept transfers.
  10. West Brook was not ready for Westfield, a good 5A squad, having played 4A competition. Hopefully they improve. West Brook is young and made some mental errors against Westfield and were physically overmatched.
  11. Aldine Eisenhower is not bringing the band, cheerleaders, or drill team. West Brook has got to correct some mental errors on routes, etc. Hopefully the O line is healthier, although J Jackson may be gone for the year. Big loss in the defensive backfield.
  12. I think it had more to do with sickness than weather. The sophomore game the night before was cancelled due to sickness. Whatever, it's done. Move on.
  13. No excuses, WF is better. Next year we will see. As far as the band, etc. not going that was a campus decision. BISD central admin. had nothing to do with it.
  14. West Brook's team is crippled with sickness. O line is decimated. Westfield 42 West Brook 7.
  15. People forget quickly. The year that Christine Michael was a junior and Albert Williams was a senior, Lufkin beat them in a scrimmage 49 to 0. No, this year's team is not that good, but Lufkin had 41 seniors on their squad. West Brook has 3. I think West Brook wins 24 -17.
  16. WB in an ugly game. WB is one hit from being without C Louis. If C Mike is also out that leaves Falgout at qb with very little to throw to and a backup rb. Defense needs to score if there is going to be a blowout. Memorial is talented enough, just not disciplined enough.
  17. C Louis had a blow to the sternum. Badly bruised diaphram or injury to one lobe of the lung best guess. C Michael back spasms and just beat up.
  18. Sorry, it is his knee. C. Louis has the ankle and Lopez has a thigh. Injury problems for WB.
  19. C Mike has a "tweaked" ankle requiring treatment. This may change things.
  20. You cannot hire them in public school unless they are certified. Part of the "no child left behind" law. If they are not certified and the school hires them it can only pay them as subs. Never mind they are great role models and good coaches. Stupid law that hurts kids.
  21. I am hearing that WB vs Katy may be on the ticket.
