  1. Not to mention holding the Kentucky commit guard at Cy Lakes to 20 points beating them by 30. We will not know as AHS is going to a National tourney after Christmas, but I do not see either 5A team beating them.
  2. AHS would beat Ozen or Central. Depth and experience. AHS has beaten Klein Forest, Sam Houston, Dekaney twice, Lancaster, and gave Yates the worst beating in their history.
  3. I know some of the guys from AHS. Their team got back from Minnesota yesterday afternoon. They played Friday and Saturday and they were tired.
  4. When the group that formed the nucleus of the 2009 team were freshmen, WB had more freshmen than Central and Ozen combined. Calls were made and that was the last year that transfers to WB were allowed. The powers that be recognized that WB was never going to be beaten if they allowed the players to transfer to WB. Flash forward to last year, no transfers on the WB team and 6 starters on Ozen and Central that had applied. No coincidence that Stump left.
  5. I predict AHS is 5th in 13 5a this year, behind Westfield, DeKaney, Klein Collins and Klein Oak. They will beat Spring, Kingwood, and Klein. Next year they make the playoffs. Mark it down. Remember the year at WB that they started rough, should have lost to Central, and went 2 - 3 before district?  They beat Hightower that year in the playoffs. AHS will do similar things, but it will take a year to develop.
  6. West Brook has been killed by the Admin. at BISD and the school board. It started after the 5-2 vote and continues. Why do you think Stump, half the Administration and coaches from WB left?  BTW, Atascocita beat Dobie 31-6.
  7. The district has not allowed anyone outside WB's zone to go to WB for the last four years.
  8. Not this year because there is much more than HC at BISD High Schools, he would also have to be the AD on the campus.  IMO he needs a little more experience supervising personnel.
  9. I do not think Hobbs is a certified educator.  This makes him virtually unhireable at a public school.
  10. Much of the growth at Central occurred because of the closing of Richard Milburn and denial of transfers to WB.  It will take another bond issue to build a new high school, and that won't happen anytime soon.
  11. Expectations need to change also.  If they have established a culture that accepts fights, etc. the real problem lies there, not with the consequences.
  12. That is the second large group of WB signees.  Good for those kids.  I like the fact they are signing in so many different sports.  Football, soccer, wrestling, etc.
  13. Bowser is a good man and coach.  He is a class act.  Moving will help him advance.  Look for him to be a HC in the near future.
  14. I do not believe Peevey will be the OC.  Bowser is going to Central, but I do not think anyone else is going to Central.
  15. WB girls vs NS 3:00 Monday at Thomas Center. Boys 3:00 at NS.
  16. Somebody needs to remember it is about the kids.  How many of WB's students could have had a college scholarship jeopardized by petty politics? Truly sad. On the good side, he got hired.
  17. That is my basic understanding, but the particulars may be different.  I am not sure if they called our board or one of our board members called them.  In any case it was a "small town politics" thing.  Luckily for the kids and community Dr. Thomas pushed, pulled, cajoled and got him in.
  18. It is my understanding that Flanigan refused to start some influential citizens' children, including a board member's child, at Crosby.  The board member then basically poisoned the water.  When the community members found out BISD wanted to possibly hire Flanigan they called a BISD board member and here we go.  Stupid.
  19. I saw the WB Principal at the meeting and he was ticked off.  It is unbelievable that the politics almost killed this coach's job and then back to the process for another month.
  20. PA and the others compete at Div 2 as a general rule.  The year that WB lost to Pearland PA made it farther in the playoffs than WB because they played D2.  My only point here is that WB playing D1 as they have the last few years is hard in the playoffs due to numbers and depth.  WB playing NS is like a 3a having to play schools the size of WB.  The original comment was in response to comparing playoff wins by coaches and I still maintain that 5a is a different animal due to difference in sizes of schools.
  21. My only point is that it is hard to compare playoff wins in 4a and 5a.  I think Flanigan will get the job but Haynes would also be a good pick. In fact Haire would also probably be okay. I expect WB to have a couple of lean years. I expect enrollment to be up in the fall, but it will be a couple of years before that impacts the varsity level.
