Everyone here has quality statements about the problems. My biggest takeaways from working in BISD nearly 20 years ago and periodically being on campuses for other job duties is simply 3 things. 1) In the entire building of the high schools there is a complete lack of teacher support by upper admistration for classroom and overall discipline (many kids will misbehave when it's simply allowed at worst or lack of consequences at best), 2) horrible on campus training facilities. (when the pick a name this school year facility was built in I-10, that money 9r at least a portion should have gone to better training facilities on campuses), and 3) when the board hires a superintendent they need to search for one that places a huge emphasis on extracurricular activities of all types (no pass no play alone can improve school climate if a large number of students are involved in ANYTHING extracurricular). Many of you may have other thoughts and disagree with some or all of mine. The person that mentioned mentioned not having coaches and/or athletes in the athletic period is beyond correct. Never seen that crap anywhere but BISD. It may occur elsewhere, but not consistently and not in successful places. Believe this one or not....yes it was 20 years ago...had a football player tell me he failed a class on purpose so he could miss the off season program in athletics the following year. That mess still go on to anyone's knowledge? On a rant, so I'll stop.

Week 3. TAMC and Nicholls are on a bye week. The other 6 all play agai st FCS opponents with LU at South Dakota. Thankfully not South Dakota State. Does LU get its first win?

Idaho dismantled Nevada. Thus, it's difficult to make any real "judgement" on Lamar with regards to improvement at this point. South Dakota is no powerhouse, but a quality FCS year in and year out. Might be the first real "measuring stick." Visited with an SLC coach who basically said the same thing about measuring with his squad based on first 2 opponents being at a completely different level.

Headed for 1 win with UIW getting it. Lamar and Southeastern with respectable showings.

Starting this topic for the 5 of us that care. Spidersal and I can rip on Lamar if nothing else. Give em hell Sir Spider. 1 win in week 1 by HCU against and an NAIA independent. The Big Sky and FBS schools dominated the rest. Week 2 could leave the conference with another 1 win week. UIW over Northern Colorado is the only game with a SLC favorite as most are playing up a level this week. Commerce has the only other FCS vs FCS game (Sacremento State).

So grammar no longer matters once you stop teaching. Glad to know the profession meant so much to you. Enjoy your days of belittling others on here.

Well, about 30 minutes or so and the 'Stros will be all alone in first place. What an interesting season....SO FAR.

Of course A&M and Cal at Austin, but what programs in Texas would he take over Nebraska? This is quite interesting to ponder. Nebraska is the "thing" for a decently populated state, so it would be interesting to see what school would have the money and clout to draw him if they chose to pursue.
