My mistake. The man needs to be coaching somewhere. Great young coach. Given the right opportunity and support, he would no doubt be successful.

Oh you don't bash Coach Thompson. Son, you do it at every turn.  Heck, you didn't want him as head coach simply because he is one who will coach the team, not let the community coach it.  So in turn, you have accused him of holding mail of prospective recruits, favoring another quarterback over his starting quarterback, throwing guys off of the team for no reason and finally, blocking the transfer of this young man.

And speaking of quarterbacks, if he is so hot to block hot prospects playing somewhere, why did he not block the transfer of his STARTING quarterback, Dillon Sterling-Cole, who has received I believe at last count 11 D-1 offers.

Man, just admit it!  You don't like Coach Thompson and you won't stop this campaign of slander until he retires (because against you most fervent wishes, he is not going to be fired).

I did a little research and made a list of records for the last 100 games played and included every 11-man UIL team in districts which include SETX teams as posted in the 2014 end of the year standings 1A through 6A.  Teams that played 100 games in the least amount of time were how the tiebreaks were made.  This is a lot of teams from a lot of classifications and there are sure to be some errors so let me know and I will correct them.  I realize people will have their arguments on why such and such is unfair.  I'm not saying this is a definitive ranking by any means but it's something that's interesting and open for discussion.  This gives a definite advantage to teams that have done well in the playoffs consistently recently (5 of the top 7 played in State Championship games, 7 of the top 9 played in State Semifinal games) but yes it does penalize for having tougher schedules that result in early season losses which in the long run could be very helpful later on.  Despite that the usual suspects seem to have remained at the top (WOS has three 3-loss seasons and a 4-loss season included here and Newton lost 4 games in 2008, 2010 and 2014).  I actually kind of like the results and a few teams are poised to jump significantly if they live up to the hype set up for them in 2015 (Crosby, Jasper and Hardin-Jefferson for sure). What elite teams did your favorite team lose to?  What teams should your team have beaten?  What was your fave teams biggest win?  Four teams have not been around long enough to hit the 100 games played mark so they were ranked by their winning percentage from the games they did play (Kingwood Park, Goose Creek Memorial, New Caney Porter and Anderson-Shiro).  100 was somewhat of an arbitrary number chosen although if a team were to go 16-0 for 6 seasons straight (which has never happened) they would have played 96 games so at the very minimum it takes into account the last 7 seasons for every team.  It also makes it very easy to get a winning percentage as the total wins equals the winning percentage.

How can they be so bad for so long? Is it the community, kids, or coaching? Unbelievable!

If you think Huffman is over rated you haven't been watching them. Nobody can control their district or how tough it is, all you can do is play who shows up. Huffman's playoff experience and talent will be difficult for anyone to match in the region, they are truly loaded. HJ has a shot because it's a one gamer and anything can happen but they'll have to play a big time game in every way to win it. Everybody knows HJ will bring their best but to say Huffman is over rated is just not being objective and just being a "homer". True baseball fans give credit where it's due and the people who know baseball will tell you Huffman is very good. Personally I hope HJ plays their best game of the season and figures out how to get a win. It's going to take a true team effort to pull it off. Good luck to HJ!

I remember the Astros starting out 10-0 in the 80s, but I think the stat read that they were only the fourth team to have a 10 win stretch within the first 25 games following a 95 loss season. What a stat. Only baseball keeps up with stats like this. Last team to do it was the '86 Indians (I believe)

In the largest two divisions (5A/6A and 4A/5A) for the last three years there have been four state champions from multi school districts in 12 championship games played. 12 of the 24 teams playing in the championships were from multi school districts. How is this a discussion?

Pepper Brooks: HD always happens to run  into a playoff team in the playoffs. They also always happen to lose. Finney happened to do what all HD coaches happen to do. They happen to play the most pathetic schools available in pre-district and typically happen to play in the weakest district of the state. This happens to result in the most unknowledgeable fan bases in the state entering SETX forums and making foolish proclamations about great coaches, four horsemen, and hitting teams in the mouth. HD then happens to get beat in the first round by a team with 2-3 talented players which happens to be significantly more talent than can be found in HD. Afterwards, HD fans happen to disappear until the next season and the new coach happens to arrive.
