Well then i guess its time to ruffle a few feathers.
This season is Definitely ready for  an Upset Saturday.
No real upset with PNG W vs LUM R other than the score.  PNG W win big 35-6
OF vs BC R OF is too much for  BC no upset here  31-0 OF
PNG P vs NED B here s one.
(PNG P 7 NED B 6)missed FG off left upright Bummer
    BMT B vs NED W.
(NED W 42 BMT B 21) easy money book it.
    LUM W vs KTZ
(LUM W 31  KTZ 0)  Too much for an upset.
    BC W vs VID B
    (VID B 28 BC W 6) VID B Snags first win
    VID W vs PTA
(VID W wins 1-0) forfiet for PTA breaking the SPIRIT of the rule
LCM vs WOS B toss up
(LCM 21 WOS B 20)  145 lb QB proves to be too much for WOS B on an extra point try
    JAS vs BMT W
(JAS 8 BMT W 6) revenge for stealing their QB.
    PNG G vs BMT G
    (PNG G 28 BMT G 7) BMT G too predictable.

Dont know the Names Bradyb, but you need to look at number 17 and number 40 on OF jr team.  Very solid.  17 s last name is Bodin.  2 of the best backs I ve seen in Jr this year and excellent tacklers on D.  Ned W has a big fast back as well.  Landon Caywood, dont know the number.

BelichikYoSelf got a reaction from Battlin' Bear in Dumb STJFL Rules
Yes they should be penalized for beating teams 60-0 with starters in the game.  No reason for it.  A few past coaches took the mercy rule and manipulated it.  They essentially started subs and ran true starters majority of the game past the 28 pt mercy rule.
The problem is when a team follows the mercy rule and a true  sub scores or a defense scores on int. and punishments are still handed down. Add in the fact that coaches are unable to defend themselves and big mess ensues.  Now the culture has changed a bit.  A coach should be able to follow the rules and let the subs enjoy the game when the opportunity arises, especially in a rec league.
Now teams have to intentially not score with subs getting their PT once up by 28 or risk breaking the Spirit of the rule, whatever that means.  The Mercy Rule is a good rule but must be applied right.  If a team has it s true subs in and still dominates the game then we should really blame the opposing coach for not teaching tackling instead of punishing subs for playing football.
I have a bigger issue with stacked teams in Certain multiple team cities and weight limit manipulation.  "BattlinBear" have you seen a very large QB in Jr.?  I mean really large? One QB in particular is the biggest, thickest, tallest 110 lbs i ve ever seen.  But dont worry Bear, Ive seen this in Lum on occassion in past seasons. Get on the 5 yard line a big lineman minus an LO sticker goes in at fullback to bowling ball up the middle.  Those are the types of rules i would like to see some attention in a rec league such as stjfl.

Or missed blocks because OF couldnt be blocked, missed Tackles because OF ran hard and OF line blocked well and had Turnovers because OF caused turnovers.

Ned B has had a cake walk so far and it will continue this week.   Real Test is week 4.  If they hang or beat BMT B by more than 12 pts week 4, then I ll Join the (almost) unstop-able bandwagon.  week 4 will tell the tale for them.  They will still need to Beat Lum W either in or on the way to super bowl.  Ned W has an easier road to the super bowl due to Conference and playoff schedule.  We shall see.

Dont think you guys have watched BMT B. That is a very good team.  Big, strong and fast. The LUM R game will be over before the half.  But the other games appear to be called fair enough.  We shall see...

That would be the right thing to do.  Consider it a record tie breaker with the points allowed instead of a head to head loss.  It technically is NOT a head to head loss as it stands with it going down as a forfeit.

No, unless the tied teams go to points allowed instead of head to head (forfeit) win/loss.  If points allowed which I think is a good idea, then the two Nederland teams would not meet until the super bowl if they both continue to win.  the way it stands now, they would meet in the second round of playoffs. maybe the board will do the right thing with this one.

With all this Bmt drama in youth football, all I have really noticed on Fri nights is that the mid county boys top notch couch potato and video game training from their youth has been paying off.  Thank goodness none of them were out putting in "backyard time" with their dads as 9 and 10 year old superstars.  Jag, luvya, anklenibbler, and bugatti might want to change up the workout regimen.  Just throwing that out there for all the "we win by 60 + because we work hard and your chubby couch potatos don't," comments.    B)

No excuses being made.  Just letting you know that Ned is now forced to cannibalize in the playoffs for playing some quality football with 1st 2nd and 3 rd string kids.  Count your blessing that you and ALL other less caliber teams have a chance at the super bowl.  If you are proud enough of the fact that Ned "broke the rules" and gave your team a shot at the bowl from a forfeit loss, then Congrats.  But Believing anything other than the FACT that Ned has the two most dominant team in Jr. is pretty funny.

Exactly why the Ned vs Ned playoff game will have more butts in the seats than the rigged up superbowl.  Forfeit loss by a powerhouse lets you skate to the bowl without having to play one of the two best teams in the league.  YEP  well deserved.  Congrats.

The WR issue is addressed in every mandatory coaches meeting.  As it was this season.  In fact i believe this same Group of coaches are the reason it has been addressed the past few season.  The Mercy rule is a rule for a reason.  These caoches have Continuously used loop holes such as starting the MPR kids for a play or two making them the Now Starters of the game or putting their better runners as receivers to start a game.  Its only a way around the rule that they make clear every coaches meeting that will not be tolerated.

In other words, Play kids that are not legitimate threats to score every time they touch the ball because the game in currently out of hand and lopsided.  Its simple and well understood by everyone in the league.  Now if a true second stringer scores or the opposing team throws a pick 6 then things are different and should be viewed as a different situation.  But when you consciously put in a starter "WR" or higher end player after previously breaking rules of this same caliber, I say see ya good bye who cares.  And don't give us this junk about He was an assistant when the other violations were handed down.  Who cares, You know the rules and were apart of the other suspensions Everyone knows why the league has put the mercy rule in place.

All I will tell you lace, it doesn't matter if it is second string or mpr player.  If the score is greater than 40.  There will be consequences.  Your only option is to intentionally try not to score.  I do agree that it is not right to try and start someone else only to bring in your better player latter on to circumvent the rules.  I do not know what really happened in this situation so can't speak to that.  I do know that the rules are interpreted to say if score has a margin greater than 40, try NOT to score.

In my opinion the rules and league are good. There is not another league that operates like ours, it is like a jr high league. It is better than any other league I have seen.
I remember when we all played only each other in our own town. The kids like playing other schools.
I agree rules should be looked at every year and adjusted appropriately. This should be looked at when the season is over.
If anything the rules have shown is thst scores can be controlled and running up scores is not appropriate under any excuse or circumstance.
I understand every school doesn't gave the "talent "like Bmt and Ned. Hopefully one day we will meet those standards. Good luck
