    Cougar14.2 got a reaction from olddadt49 in Region 3 5A top 10
My updated top 10 after some Spring research:

    1. Crosby - call me crazy, but I think Crosby has a little more talent than GR on the roster this year. Crosby also has a much easier schedule and is less likely to lose which would help our ranking.

    2. George Ranch - Tougher schedule than Crosby and no Xavian Marks to help defenses not to key on Darius Anderson. We'll find out a lot about GR during non-district when they play Dawson, Friendswood and PAM.

    3. Hutto - Tyler Herrick will be back under center for the Hippos. He has 0 offers to date but threw for over 3k yards and 39 tds while rushing for 899 and 13 more scores. He also gets back his top receiver who had 1149 yards. Expect Hutto to be right around the 6k team yards they had last year. Herrick's film is ridiculous.

    4. Angleton - Big, powerful, and very fast. Seems like a plug-n-play system with athletes to burn. We'll know week 2 if they're too low on the list.

    5. Stratford - Rakeem Boyd is my second favorite back in H-town this year and already has nearly 4k career rushing yards. If Stratford can get the defense right they're my pick to win the region in D1. I would describe them as a 5A version of last year's Cy-Ranch team.

    6. CE King - Much like Stratford, King also posses a 20+ offer back in Tray Williams. It'll still be the Brantley and Williams show but King lost a LOT of their supporting cast to transfers and graduation last year. I think they'll still score a bunch of points but I don't think they'll be able to stop people as well as they did in district play last year.

    7. Foster - If Foster can just get average qb play and a healthy Quan Williams they could end up being a state title contender. They're one of the deepest teams in the region coming into the season but I put them this low because other than Williams I just don't know how they're going to score against good teams this year.

    8. Bryan - I put them here for no other reasons than they're returning their qb in BJ Ross and I don't have any faith in the strength of their district which means they'll probably have another 10 win season. I like the Vikings but I think they'll be hard pressed to restock the firepower from last year.

    9. Brenham - Other than a non-district loss to Lamar and another possible loss to Stratford in district play, I think they'll once again be in the 2nd or 3rd round of the d2 playoffs before they're really tested by a team their size.

    10. Dayton - I'm putting the Broncos in here over Ridge Point and PLC on biased alone. I still consider Dayton soft and clueless on how to run the ball or stop it but for the second consecutive year they lost by a point in the area round. If they could limit the turnovers and stop the run some, I think they could very well get three deep and they're certain to go d2.

Disclaimer: I really like PLC more than Dayton at this point but l'm allowing myself one biased pick.
I want a regional final game between the two at Stallworth, the stadium deserves it.

I didn't post a link, I went to that .org site though and I couldn't find anything.  They projected all Bowls for next year.  I wouldn't put much weight in them because they had Notre Dame in the playoff.

It looks like they just took the top half of the teams and ranked them on their accomplishments of last year and didn't take in consideration what the teams have returning or lost. At least on 5a

Not really sure why you think you are going to be bashed, however I stand by my remarks.  Unfortunately, last year there was a group of fans from PNG that wanted to get involved in the trash talk on the field between the players on both sides.  Keep in mind the stands are only on one side of this field, a soccer field, and it happened to be right behind the Crosby bench, PNG bench was on the other side.  Players on both sides were talking trash back and forth.  However, when Crosby would walk off the field still talking trash or responding to trash some fans took it upon themselves to talk trash to the players, the kids.  Somehow they felt the trash talk was to the fans.  To make circumstances more unfortunate the mother of one of the boys was sitting next to these fans that were yelling at her kid, when they were not flat out trashing him in the stands to her.  She was wise enough to respectfully remove herself from the situation.  One of the fans yelled "you want to yell at me kid" the kid replied with "no one is talking to you".  So yes I do believe they dropped their class at the gate....hopefully they picked up on the way out.  While this was going on I was standing close to a coach from another team that was watching our game.  When I spoke to the mother that moved he said, "they have been like this all day, awful".  It may have been the first time these fans had attended a game or a 7 on 7 tournament since they continued to yell "watch the pass" the entire tournament.  Perhaps some of the fans that didn't leave their class at the gate could have checked the problem or maybe it wasn't worth it to them.  I don't hate anyone on this site, most are great entertainment when I am about to claw my eyes out at work.  What happened last year is about as important now as what I had for breakfast yesterday.  Moving on and good luck in the up coming season.

It always takes 2 to tango....... However I do think it is funny to measure class from opinions on this website. If any of these posts are from fans that actually strapped on a helmet, you will definately know that its highly impossible, or unlikely, that one individual on the field was talking trash to himself. And in all my experience on the field, I never encountered a team that was quiet on the other side. That being said, other than individuals on this board, the rivalry is not that strong among these 2 schools. IMO it a hatred among a few keyboard warriors on these sites. Crosby wanting what PNG has in Tradition, and PNG wanting in what Crosby has, deep playoff runs and recognition. But im sure it will make for some intersting and fun reading throughout the year. My take on 7 on 7 is nothing more than a controlled scrimmage. No pads, no hitting, no coaching. But I can assure one thing, you can "Drop Class" anywhere, including this forum. Bash me now, I have extremely broad shoulders........

You're right, especially when your team doesn't have a chance. The season is still 80-something days away so there's not much you can talk about. I will say this though. DC had 3 of the 4 teams that played for the 6A titles ranked 1-3, the ranking mean nothing because Cy-Ranch wasn't even in the top 25 preseason.
The four teams that played for the 5A titles were all ranked within the preseason top 6 by DC.
The 4A-D1 finalist were ranked #2 and #5 preseason, the 4A-D2 finalist were ranked #2 and #4.
While the rankings mean absolutely nothing, some polls are a pretty good indicators of team forecasts, especially if you were to start from the regional finals forward.

I did the research and surprisingly the DCTF preseason polls as well as the AP preseason polls are more accurate at predicting State Champs than the end of season polls over the past 50 years (most likely because the top programs know scheduling tough teams in pre-district is actually a good thing and one loss or more will give you a lower end of season ranking).  A little bird told me about WO-S as well which worries me.  WO-S has been the #1 preseason fave several times over the years and tends to do worse with a target on their backs.  The drop to 3A in 2004 was the most recent time with WOS #1 and Jasper #2 preseason and Huffman got the big upset over WOS in Bi-District.

Central has everything in place to dominate that district for the foreseeable future. If Foreman wants to move to a bigger/higher paying job like most young coaches do then Central is probably the perfect place for him to stay. They have the largest enrollment and superior athletes to everyone in that district except maybe Ozen at times. Probably a far better career move to stay at Central instead of drop a classification to coach at Cleveland.

Interesting to see where DC ranks the teams in the coverage area. I think Crosby could be ranked as high as #2 in the pre-season behind Aledo or as low as #8 behind a couple of 25-5A and east Texas teams. Last year DC picked Crosby as a dark horse to win state which was taken as a joke on this board. This year we're already on of the odd-on favorites. I wonder how funny 16-0 sounds this year?

    Katy enrollment: 3220
    Cedar Hill enrollment : 2279
*I used these two teams because they've played each other for the last three 6A-D2 titles of which Cedar Hill has won the last two. They also have demographics close to the percentages you listed above.

The #HTOWNTAKEOVER adds two more. UH now has commitments from two of the top three defensive tackles in the state and two of the three best offensive guards in Houston.

This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up I think UH has a 50% shot at landing Tray Williams Friday night. I also think they're the leader for Manvel standout OLB Jordan Carmouche, with that could come a second 5-star commit for the Cougs in Deontay Anderson. It is also widely thought that UH is the leader for Ed Oliver's Westfield teammates, Dillon Sterling-Cole and the electric Tyrie Cleveland.
I don't know if Tom Herman can coach but if he recruits like this for a couple of years I see UH dominating the AAC like Urban Meyer did at Utah or Chris Peterson did as Boise State.

    Well. . . I tried to call it. . .
Not only did UH get the best defensive tackle in the state, they now have a commitment from the third best DT in the state to go with him. They're also expected to get a commitment from Hightower DE, Michael Johnson Friday.

Shortly after the Oliver commitment UH also picked up a verbal from the Lamar road grader, Dixie Wooten, who I think is the second best guard in Houston. Don't be surprised if the best guard in town, Crosby's Keenan Murphy, also commits soon.

UH is also in great position for Tray Williams even though I think he's going to A&M or TCU. Dillon Sterling-Cole and Tyrie Cleveland are thought to be a package deal by some and UH is in prime position for at least Cleveland who's probably the best receiver in town. Don't be surprised either if they pick up some elite local DB talent in this class.
The kids are hash-tagging their commitments with #HTOWNTAKEOVER. They're probably just a few commits from finishing with a top 20 or maybe even top 15 class for this cycle.
