So this post started out asking who would win tonight's game, and it has degraded into a discussion about HD having poor school discipline and being an academic wasteland. Hmmm, some of you guys are truly gems and I'm sure that your families are proud of you. Our players read this stuff. Never forget that at the end of the day we are just supporting kids, who are a part of our community, and need the support. What you guys are doing is wrong.
There is a correlation between schools that have structure and discipline, and schools that are successful.
Not just in sports. Academics, graduation rate, college readiness. One might say it takes discipline and structure to even be successful. -
No need for posting rumors like that or made up stuff. Degrading a school and kids is uncalled for. Very immature... take that crap to another board. SMH... so glad most folks don't get on here and post false rumors all day. lol, some people...
I'm not posting made up stuff. I have a very close personal friend who is very well known and respected in the coaching community. He's very professional and would not publicly say things like this. Me...however. I'm a big believer in speaking truth.
So before you bash me for "spreading made up stuff". Think about this.
Instead of implying that all these kids go to HD because it is a football power. Maybe there are different reasons.
Being how you guys just lost to a team that had lost 15 straight...I'm thinking football power can be thrown out. -
I bet no one ever transfers from Liberty to play at WH.
I'm not sure that's the entire reason a lot of those kids transfer to HD. I have a very close friend that coaches and he told me that most (not all) of those transfer kids go to HD because the school discipline is a joke. And those trouble maker kids do whatever they want at HD. Now I'm not there so I don't know...but...if that is partly true.
Maybe WH refuses to take those kind of transfers.
For the record..those Liberty transfers don't try to go to Hardin or Dayton either. I would definitely rather play at one of those than HD. -

This very well could be Newton's worst preseason in a very long time. If not ever.

As freshman they won a district title in football but that's about it.
Considering most teams in that district probably don't have a freshmen team...
Even teams that do have freshmen teams play their best freshmen on JV or varsity. So they were the best group of freshmen in the district that didn't have freshmen good enough to play up.
Yeah...that's not success. -
Horns are big up front and have had alot of success in years past with this group of seniors. They mesh well together. Going to be a tough game for both teams, but don't be surprised to see Tarkington come away with this one. I'm going to say Horns by a TD
Please define "alot of success in years past with this group of seniors"
I'm not remembering Tarkington being any good at anything ever...aside from volleyball. -
I hope for HDs sake they win this one. I don't care how much Burkeville is improved. If HD loses this game...we will likely see ridicule like never before. Self inflicted of course.

They should be ashamed of theirselves.
They should be more like our respectable athletic programs here in Texas. Recruiting would never happen in this great state. (Dallas isd) -
WHS 34
DHS 20 -
I don't think either team is very good. However...I was surprised WH hung 34 on Grapeland.
Based on that...I think WH takes it. Close game I think. -

Awww cmon GATA!! I never said that. I just know Newton ain't looking like the teams in the past. If we stay healthy I say Kirbyville will be fine...let's leave it at that
Ok I have to say something.
1. Kirbyville would get smoked by Tatum. You guys may be a "power" around here...but to think you're on that level is a joke.
2. Yeah I do think Kville will be fine. I personally think y'all get 1 or 2 in district. My gut says between y'all and Buna...but I do think there will be some surprises.
But...asking for Tatum? You better be excited they went up. And you better be excited White Oak went reg 2. Having said that, I still think round 3 is end of the road. That may seem good to some people...but I'm smart enough that that's about the time you meet somebody from a different area. SETX is a different kind of football. Not in a good way. The only setx team that goes deep this year is WOS. And that's only because that joke of a region. Thanks uil. -
What's that suppose to mean?
Are you sure you want me to answer? People on this site get offended by truth.
Also, before I answer. Do you agree that a good coaching staff can make a difference in winning or losing games? -
Babin got a better offer at a better school. It's not a very complex situation.
It's ok. You don't get it. Let me explain.
Warren has a new school with nice facilities. So does Deweyville. Deweyville is historically terrible. So is Warren. Warren offered him more money. I guarantee you he could've got Deweyville to match it if he wanted to stay. I will say this...he will have more coaches at Warren. Which is huge. But there are other reasons obviously...let me think. Oh yeah, the best team in the history of the school graduated. Yep...he's outa there.
Better offer at a better school. Lol -
lol I think losing babin had something to do with Deweyvilles decline. They had a bunch of kids coming back but did also lose good kids like all winning programs. Before Babin they hadnt made the playoffs since the early 2000s i think. While he was there they won their first district title since 1985. Pretty salty. Sounds like their are some sour grapes in here.
Wrong. Babin knew exactly when to leave. More times than not, what makes a good football coach is knowing what job to take...and then knowing when to take a different one. -
Teneha knows how to be good every year. Go to the school and you'll see what I mean.
-
bingo! Some ppl take enrollment to heart, Plano ISD the biggest in Texas and haven't won State since I was almost a toddler.
Another good example is Ennis. Almost half of their enrollment is Hispanic...most of which don't play football. So if you take those kids out of the equation...Ennis made it to the 4A state semis with basically 3A numbers. -
I thought Deweyville lost their coach (Babin). I thought that was the reason behind their decline.
They lost their coach (Babin) because he (Babin) knew that they were losing everything and going to be awful. -
I have to say I was wrong on this one.
Congrats HJ.
