Honestly I can't confirm one way or another. I've heard from pretty good sources they're (Hardin) really big and surprisingly agile on the line. What does that mean? Time will tell.
I will say this. I was surprised they held Huntington to 14. Not that they won...I figured it would go either way. But I heard Huntington had a decent group.
I think Hardin may surprise a couple in district. Woodville and Anahuac more specifically. We'll see I guess. -

Ok. Maybe so. But here's my opinion. The one game HH has won in the last year and a half came against HD this season. I don't think HD is any good at all. True WH may also be bad...but I'm still not convinced HH has proven anything.
For the record...I think it's hilarious when people say "much improved".

Usually runs into the endzone... Every game or scrimmage he played in before the injury, he broke atleast a 60 yard TD.
5.1 40 is probably good enough to see the endzone vs teams like Burkville. -

Colmesneil just needs to discontinue football!
Colmesniel (like many other schools) just does not know how to go about it. Having consistent success that is. Gotta hire a really good coach...it's gonna cost you. And then let him do what he what's with staffing. Pay him enough to make him stay. Leave him alone for a few years..it's gonna take time.
Problem is everyone wants "fix now for cheap". It doesn't exist. With anything. -

Well then you could at least criticize a coach by his correct name. It's Franklin, not Franklyn.
I wasn't criticizing anyone. Let's just say I'm not surprised he wasn't nominated for Coach of the Universe. They went 6-5 and was 4th place...like always. All the other sports were competitive in their district...like always. Basketball was one of the top teams in the state and made a deep run...like always.
You guys were the ones rolling out the red carpet. Not saying he did a bad job.. Just saying he didn't do anything above the previous AD's. No matter how you spell his name. -

I agree 100%! Not only do you need talent, but the teams with a solid coaching staff and better equipment usually do better! Look at Tatum, they have invested some serious money into that program and look at them.
Bingo my man. You have no idea how excited it makes me that someone from this area understands. I've been preaching this message a long time but nobody wants to hear it.
Not just Tatum. Mart, Carthage, East Bernard, Allen, Denton Guyer...I mean. The list goes on. And it's not a coincidence those schools are in the state title conversation often. -
Oldschool you're probably right as well...I looked at the Colmesneil football schedule and it is a staff of 4 (head coach and 3 assistants) that is only 2 more coaches than the Chester 6 man team had last year if I am not mistaken. And I agree Colmesneil will not pay what it takes to get a good football coach in there. They seem to be a district that likes to spend as little as possible.
Part of the problem is that several area schools are doing things the way they did several decades ago. Including staff size, budget, and payroll. There are too many schools across the state that have simply adapted and updated. Schools like Colmesniel can't compete. Unless changes are made.
But schools have to lose the attitude "that's how we did it when I was in school" -

Colmesniel will never get a good football coach because they're not willing to pay what it costs to bring one in. Even if they did that they won't leave home alone and give the guy what he wants. (Mainly a decent sized staff)

Coach Franklin was hired by a Baseball Board? Man...please! First of all the job Coach Franklin given was discussed with Coach Joubert and he declined the Head Football end of the Job! So that pretty well spits in your punch on that point...Baseball Heavy that's a dang knee slapped!
Second, Tracy was equally if not more importantly brought here because of his administrative capabilities...(he did act as asst. dean of displine at the high school as well on top of Coaching and AD duties...just Football or Baseball oh FYI HE coached our girls Basketball program to the playoffs as well! As a matter of fact under Coach Franklin Kountze made a lot of athletic strides outside of Football
The school Has enjoyed nice success in dang near every sport for the two years he was the man...so there is another big hauker in you Koolaid!
Now for the record I am glad Coach Joubert took the job because he is a more experienced football guy and the kids needed a more seamless transfer of the reins, plus he will pick and has picked up the program and is moving it forward, but on the heals of a lot of hard work by Coach Franklin to get it off the ground.
Oh and this past year he was head baseball and did not even pay himself!

Kountze had success in multiple sports? Baseball district champs, football playoffs (*4th place), girls bball playoff, boys bball district champs, what am I missing?.. Doesn't matter. Well since there was so much success...because it sounds to me that none of that happened before...let's build a statue of the guy. Hey..pass a bond. I'd vote for it if I lived there.
As far as me showing respect..I do expect people to be truthful with me. If my honesty is "respect" to you I really don't care. I don't believe in sugar coating.

Good point. But in my opinion he would have been a better fit based on playing experience. College and professional. I know good player doesn't mean good coach...but he didn't even play bball past high school. And he's done pretty well. Plus...being a young, energetic coach would suit those Kountze kids.
