That happens during every president's tenure. There comes a time where people no longer qualify for benefits. What is your point?

Do you think I could "ROAM" a black neighborhood at night? I agree Big Girl, I wished it was that way on both sides being able to just live and not live in fear. It is the world we live in.

Did he assault the police officer? Is this fact or mere conjecture? The penalty for stealing cigarettes is less punitive then a charge of assaulting a police officer. That's why I find it hard to believe that he attacked an officer, because he was afraid of going to jail for stealing cigarettes.

I can only speak for my circle if we're having a good time or just out and about. It makes no difference who was in the uniform just seeing the uniform was enough to kill the mood. Black cops would rough you up too.

Some history as why we got the talk in my days growing up in Houston.
 
Joe Campos Torres (December 20, 1953 - May 5, 1977) was a 23-year-old Vietnam Veteran who was beaten by several Houston police officers and subsequently died. His death sparked protests and the outcome of the trial was met with rioting. Torres had been arrested at a Houston bar for disorderly conduct. Six police officers took Torres to a spot called “The Hole” next to Buffalo Bayou and beat him.[1]
The officers then took Torres to the city jail, who refused to process him due to his injuries. They were ordered to take him to Ben Taub General Hospital, but instead of doing so, the officers brought him back to the banks of Buffalo Bayou and pushed him into the water. Torres’s body was found two days later.  

this is not true I grew up on the westside of P.A. certain people fear the way certain youth talk walk dress etc. Its stripping away rights to tell someone if you dont wanna be subject to harassment stop dressing a certain way. Its become completely normal to stereotype the youth. I cant tell you how many times I've been ask where you going..what you doing out here.. you got I.d. come here. And before anyone start. When my Dad gave me the talk he told me be careful and calm around cops. Not just white cops. Black community have tension with cops in general not just white cops.

If my understanding of the situation is correct, he wanted the DA gone, and when she wouldn't resign he denied funding to a program she was involved in? If that's the case, then it sounds like the indictment is warranted. On the flip side, if Obama denied a legit program funding because he had a beef with a republican involved with the program, there would be outrage, and someone would soon post a westernjournalism article all about how crooked it was.

My parents never gave me the talk about police, it was sort of ingrained in the neighborhood and school I went to. I still go out of my way to avoid police as much as possible, even when I'm not doing anything wrong

Always "exceptions" to any rules. LOL!!  But news guy(?) on channel 12 showed some stats where 28% of young Black males were stopped and whites were around 12% (?). 
 
I've already given mine "da talk" before the older one started driving. I guess with age, maybe there comes a point when "da man" stop pulling "us" over. I noticed a slight drop off after age 49.

Steve, you constantly call me a liberal and part of the "tolerant crowd" yet Ive repeatedly stated I'm fiscally conservative and support lower taxes, less regulations and the repeal of obamacare. I've also stated obama has been a disappointment, although I do not give him ALL the blame for the current economic environment.

If you can't see the difference in Smitty's posts and those from ECO and most recently TXHoops (by design) I won't bother to explain it.

As far as others agreeing with you, no doubt... the moderators seemed to take the path of no moderation and then a knee-jerk reaction to solve the problem.

The forum is getting boring...national policy seems to be a nuisance and a bore to many.

Lower and middle class families spend more on consumption as a percentage of overall income than than a wealthy family.

Example, family X makes $25,000, spends $20,000 on consumer goods (excluding tax) and with an 8% consumption tax would pay $1,600 in taxes. The tax would be 6.4% of their overall income.

Now, family Y makes $1,000,000 a year and spends $200,000 on consumer goods (excluding tax) and with an 8% would pay $16,000 in taxes. The tax would be 1.6% of their overall income.

Family X pays more as a percentage but family y pays more in absolute terms.

Weird how it was never an issue until the topics were coming from the other side.

I asked for this forum to be created after being contacted by Admin about complaints that the Locker Room had more politics that other issues and was turning into a one sided continual diatribe. For that reason the powers in control agreed to try a political forum so that at least there would be a non-political place to post other than sports issues (Locker Room) and someone could ignore politics by merely not viewing the forum. Apparently some people do not have that ability to draw themselves away from a train wreck however. 
 
This forum has degraded into the same topics over and over. Even the titles of many threads call out other members or the "other side". That alone should tell you that it isn't about an issue per se but in fanning the flames. Topics such as:
 
How we know Smitty is a low intelligence quotient human being
Big GIrl: your thoughts on unqualified supervisors
16 threads without a reply
Teabaggers hate main stream media...........
Big Girl, what do you think of this analogy
 
Other threads are continually posted about our side against your side like "low information voter" threads, Republicans/GOP are criminals or teabaggers are racists.
 
In my opinion an example valid political topic would be, should PAISD get a new bond after just passing one a few years ago or even Will Hillary run (but leaving out personal snipes). A person can easily give an opinion that PAISD does or does not need a bond without calling Obama poll numbers into it or mentioning race for the sake of mentioning race. You can answer that Hillary will run and be almost guaranteed a win or that she will likely opt out after not wanting to face examination of her time as Secretary of State or Benghazi issues. There is nothing wrong with either side if respectfully given.
 
If it was up to me, I would be deleting threads without the need for explanations that do nothing but post another opinion about one side or the other by posting a link from a politically slanted website that shows Dems/GOP are crooks, Obama lied, teabaggers anything, etc. Especially threads only call out one side or the other or are directed at an individual. If you want to flame, go to another website. There should be some valid political threads without all the silliness.  
  Not so long ago we almost lost all political posting from the Locker Room so this spin-off forum was created as sort of an experiment. It looks like the experiment is about to fail. If admin approves I will start deleting threads (probably a majority of ones created lately) and if people don't like it, they can move on to another website. There are plenty of places to post political opinions on the Internet. I would like the ability to discuss some issues if it can be done with respect and especially if it has some local issue even if it is a national story with local interest like the Keystone Pipeline.    If not, I think Admin will simply delete this forum and not allow any political issues in the Locker Room.

It was worded differently in the article than how he actually said it, which completely changed the context of the quote. The way the article worded it implied that he basically said that Muslims have built the framework of our country. The way he actually said it was that SOME Muslims have played a PART.
