  1. He isn’t saying anything about the number of students each school has. He is saying that the athlete’s at PNG come from Groves. Even the ones now that are from Port Neches. Most of their parents grew up in Groves. So they still have the Groves gene. Like it was said before in a different thread. Port Neches supplied the school and Groves supplies the athlete’s.
  2. Lamar’s basketball program is the same as it’s football program. It’s a dumpster fire. Brooks is a good coach but with the shape it was in when he came in and lack of funds it will take a while to build anything that would be remotely competitive. I personally believe that Lamar could be a worthy sports program if the powers that be would let it. If they would realize how much revenue they would make in this area by putting more money in the sports programs and putting successful teams on the field/court. This area would start supporting them more. Nobody wants to go pay money and see their hometown team get humiliated.
  3. The reason the attendance was down in NRG was because teams outside of Southeast Texas and Houston area don’t travel well. So yea the attendance is going to be low. When they don’t travel UIL doesn’t make as much money. That is a big issue. So in order to make money they accommodate the Dallas area teams so they don’t have far to go. I personally believe this is crap. Just because those teams don’t travel well all of the other areas have to go and spend their money just so the fans in the Dallas area are happy. I know some of the schools in that area say they can’t afford to travel. I can kind of understand that. Hell SOC couldn’t even afford to buy a uniform to fit #99 so everybody in stadium got a very unpleasant view of butt crack every offensive snap. But there are teams in Southeast Texas and the Houston area in the same boat. Why can’t we accommodate them? If I had to guess Jerry has a lot to do with this and the deal he has created with UIL.
  4. I thought I heard Bobby August was going to be rehired. They won’t have to pay a housing fee because he said he would just live in the gym.
  5. I just said his coaching career. I didn’t say he was a head coach in all of them.
  6. Ken Purcell has 12 state championships throughout his coaching career and AD career with Tahoka, Plano, Allen and Denton. Look him up. I would post the article but it wouldn’t let me.
  7. That guy was Ken Purnnell he was a coach and AD at Allen for years. Throughout his years of coaching and being an AD he has 12 state rings. He never has hyped up one team over another as long as I've been watching him.
  8. It has been proposed and talked about a few times but they just keep shooting it down. I think Jerry has made them one hell of a deal they can't pass up. Jerry is a marketing genius and probably 95% of the time he gets what he wants. In a half a week he makes a fortune off of these state games.
  9. I don't know everything about him but what difference does it make? He is just a Freshman. By next year everything about him more than likely will change. Most kids around this age go through major growth spurts. The kid is good and will more than likely compete for the starting QB job next season.
  10. As a Freshman he is around 5'-10" - 6'-0" and weighs about 150. He's still got some growing to do and he will put on some more weight.
  11. He is a dual threat. I love Crippen but he is a pure pocket passer. If he gets into the right offense in college he will do very well. This Freshman can run and throw on the run. He will need to acclimate hisself to the speed of the varsity level. It will be interesting how these coaches evaluate the situation at QB next year.
  12. Shea may not be the QB next year. There is a Freshman coming up that was on the sidelines all year that has a very good shot at taking over. If he does take over this will free Shea up to do what he did this year and be placed anywhere on the field. With the coaches having a year of knowledge of what he is capable of, just watch what they come up with to get him the ball. It could be real fun to watch.
  13. I truly believe if we had this coaching staff through the RJ years. We would have been to STATE those years.
  14. I’ve been thinking the same thing myself buddy.
  15. Yes, they have a good following.
  16. Kyle Field is about the midway point for both teams. But I guess A&M didn’t allow them to play there because they didn’t want to be shown up by two high school teams that would show them how real football is played.
  17. This game is crazy.
  18. Could he be going to the collegiate level maybe as a coordinator or maybe head coach?..........Could he be coming to Lamar? LOL!!!!
  19. I don’t have any stroke buddy. I just happen to be at the right place at the right time when the announcement was made. Since this is the first time since 1999 to make it to the 4th round I expect it to be packed. Especially with who we are playing.
  20. I really feel bad for them. When we have played them in the past, even in the playoffs, they were lucky to have 200-300 people in the stands. That’s band included. It’s sad some parents and family won’t go see their kids or family preform. The playoffs may bring in a little more but not much.
  21. The manager of the stadium said if we sell out our side, we are home, that they would open up the visitors side to PNG because FBM doesn’t travel well.
  22. I believe this was in Tomball.
  23. School is out for Thanksgiving. PNG can practice whatever time they need to so I don't think it's been a problem since they have turf.
  24. I understand there is not enough talent around here to win with. But there is talent here that are going other places that are not recruited by Lamar. I'm not talking about the top tier 5* or 4* athletes but there are some very good 3* athletes that are going off to McNesse, SFA, Sam Houston, Mary Hardin Baylor, ULL and other schools the same level as Lamar that they could keep home. Yes, I unerstand they need to recruit other places as well but if you keep local talent from going away then that puts fans in the seats because family and friends will come to see them play. Which means increased attendance which in turn brings in more money for the school.
  25. They have the money to still pay the coordinators as well as other coaches. They just chose not to give anymore money to the athletic department then they already do. Look at Vincent Beck. That place is in dire need of a major upgrade. They need a new locker room with a coaches office in the actual building itself. The bathrooms are definitely need upgrading. If they only realized that if you have successful programs that the money will come back because people around here will go and support them. Nobody wants to go pay money to watch your hometown team get their arse kicked day in and day out.
