Yes, that's common in that situation. Just in case there's a bad snap or hold, you get another shot to kick it. 

I have to agree with this! There is no doubt this is all on LN this year. I still think Nederland makes the playoffs with a Ozen win over Livingston. 

Nederland would have already locked up a playoff spot if they hadnt played an ineligible player against Livingston and had to forfeit. I heard there were talks of his possible ineligibility before he started.  Yet the coach still decides to start him in a district game they could have won without a QB. If Nederland doesn't make the playoffs one could argue it's his fault anyway. 
Not saying he hasn't been a good coach, but in my opinion, if they miss the playoffs this year, you can't blame talent or play of the kids. 

No way, he has a championship pedigree. 

You must don't realize that many McD's AA don't have successful college careers because many of them were Overrated...we miss-use great and phenom to often...

Winner of this game, IMO will win state.  

I think he should coach in Nederland once English leaves and lets see how easy it is to win in Nederland.

And OF, since when have you been high on Saveat?  I remember not long ago, you gave Boutee praise and you downtalked Saveat because you were in your feelings because Ozen wasn't consistently beating Central anymore....  And you said it wouldn't have happened under Boutee's watch and the program went to shambles since Saveat took over.  Well, this is not verbatim, but pretty much what you said.  Many heated arguments we had about this, you and I.  We used to ask you how do you run Ozen into the ground but carry the name Ozensfinest.  It's just amazing what a few years bring now.  A state championship appearance later and you're all in.  Ozen has the best guards in the state...  Saveat is great.  Boyd is the best guard in this area...  Ect, ect, ect.....

Both coaches are great. English has a long history of doing more with less.  Saveat has shown he can can get the best out of talented teams.  Both are admirable traits in a coach, and both deserve all the credit they get 

I think the voting is based on District numbers only but if they used total year numbers i think it still goes to Miguez. At one time MIguez was averaging 30 plus a game for a 4 for 5 game stretch. IMO they got it wrong.  

I said before that Saveat has done a FANTASTIC job at Ozen.  He held that program to a standard and that's not easy either. Travis Williams did a great job in Silsbee, and in my opinion was not a good fit for the Memorial program, but did a good job there nonetheless.  Sigler is one of my favorite people in the area, and has done solid at Silsbee during both stints there.  Now let me ask you this....WHAT IF English had ONE of those Silsbee teams?  Considering what he did with virtually nothing, do you think he could have done AT LEAST the same at those other places? Its a common sense answer, really.  OF perhaps you're not old enough to know the history of both of those schools before he got there, but they were pretty darn bad.  Ask the Lincoln old heads about what THEY think about NEDERLAND going to the regional tourney, even once....or making the playoffs, for that matter. Its a big deal, trust me.
So, OF, let me ask you this....Was Bob Hughes resume just average prior to him winning his first title in 1993? Was Clear Lake's Bill Krueger's resume just average before he won it in 1989?

Guess I will go ahead and ask it... Not to take anything away from the selected players but How does Jase Miguez not at least make offensive MVP?
I can't recall the last time the district leading scorer wasn't at least the offensive MVP.  What is even more impressive is that everyone in the area knows he is the only threat on the team and he still managed to lead the district in scoring.  You take Jase off of Nederland, they might win 4-5 games in district and miss the playoffs. 

I seen a lot of extra celebrations and emotions after made baskets.. smh

1 I didn't see that but if I did I would've spoke on it. If y'all call trash talking having a bad attitude then so be it. It's a difference being disrespectful to and adult and kids talking trash. I attend many practices at WOS where the kids or going at it talking trash, but not once do they disrespect there coaches. Y'all can Sugar Coat it how ever you'll want. But not once will my kid disrespect his coach or any grown up

i def heard Boyd telling Miguez he was soft. If i sank a few 3's in his face id probably clap my hands too. I have zero problem with players talking on the court. Its the disrespect he had towards his coach. 

If you understand the game and have watched Nederland play, you would need "facts" to understand he's a great coach.  I'm no Nederland fan but can very much appreciate the job he does there.  
I'm not going to get into a Saveat vs. English debate because I think Saveat does/has done a good job with the Panthers as well.  I have an opinion but it doesn't really matter.  Both should be commended on how they've done with their kids. 

Miguez will talk trash with the best of them but you will never see him disrespect his coach or team. He plays the game hard and with a lot of emotions.  I can assure you that English is glad to have him.

Where I was sitting couldn't see the Nederland player. But I did see 23 talking trash on the court. That's part of the game. I could remember talking alot of players out there game when I played in the mid 90s

Moving up in the rankings or down means nothing to me but the fact that Nederland went toe toe with both teams playing man says a lot about the players on Nederlands team. Not to many teams around can play those teams in man and hang around.

Gotta give it to Central. They hit big shot after big shot and made their free throws. Nederland played a good game but had some crucial turnovers down the stretch. Great game to watch.
