I've been high on HH all year and boy have they delivered, only 1 loss all season... Amazing but I still take the Tigers by 5 here, Silsbee has played a brutal regular season schedule compared to HH and even had the tougher path through the playoffs. They are battle tested and hitting their stride at the right time. Sell out to stop #10 and lets see what the rest of their guys can do vs that Silsbee defense.

The Silsbee Tigers are the only unranked team in the regional finals. 

I don't know they seemed uncharacteristically ragged in the first half and went in trailing.   Everybody knew what was going to happen in the end.  Huffman would take the lead back and keep it.  But the game was still in question right up to the last 2 minutes.  

Being the last ranked team in the Region Huffman has to be considered the favorite.  But go to Silsbee's Maxpreps page and check out the highlights of the Yates game.  Silsbee took down the 2nd ranked team by 15 points scoring 99.   The Falcons haven't scored quite that many points all year against anybody.  I'd say the Tigers have a good chance. 

 

Major props to these Silsbee kids.  I wish I had followed them closer.  They grew up right before our eyes. This team is no longer considered young.  This team is here for a minute. I hope tiger nation can rally behind this group just like Adams and  McCain’s previous group.

This makes 7 straight years that Silsbee has made it to the regional tourney (regional semis, 4th rd) and 13 of the last 17 years (failed to make regional tourney in 2006, 2011, 2013, 2014). With a win Tuesday, the Tigers will be playing for the regional championship for the 11th time in the past 17 seasons. (won it in 2008, 2010, 2016, 2017, 2018; lost in 2005, 2007, 2012, 2015, 2019)
I admit, I didn't think this year's team would continue that streak.

This is going to be a good one to get.  Definitely not the same energy as last night.  Good hard fought win.  And hats off to Wharton probably the best sportsmanship I have seen in a long time!!!

Agree about sportsmanship from Wharton. I watched them play Bridge City the other night and they were the same way. Hugging and helping players off the floor after they won. Great coaching over there. 

Just seeing all this, lost my phone last week in an unfortunate boating accident. Silsbee pulled it off, hot damn Tigers way to go. I had them picked to pull the upset by 5 and they bested that by 10, great job boys.

My MVP for the game and that's the Most Valueable Person is Coach Green and I'm asking please say a prayer for him. Coaching a basketball game the day after the passing of his Mother and being able to stay in focus says alot about the mental toughness of this man. (RIP)Rest in Paradise Momma Green. I really hope Lumberton.  I had a genuine LOL moment the other day.  Someone told me that Huffman fancies themselves the Duke of HS basketball.  And the person goes on to say, “which I guess is true if all the players are Grayson Allen...” 🤣😂

I am pretty sure i saw it will be broadcast here and wont be surprised if it is video broadcast as well...

You are right about this Tiger team.....however we are very young and it will be the first time dealing with a team like Yates.  Now we can apply just as much pressure as they do but where we may have trouble is dealing with their pressure and still being able to apply ours.  Legs will get tired and decision making of our youngsters will be tested.  To most anyone it will be a surprise if we can make it a real good game.   With that said i have faith in my young Tigers and know they will give it all they can.  I wont be surprised to see this one either way.  Unfortunately i dont know if i will even make the trip with a 5:30 start time.  I would miss the first 20 minutes or so and unless i get tickets online wouldnt want to make the trip and get turned away.

Yates has a more aggressive defense, Yates will press for 32 minutes with a 18 Man Roster.  It's the only way they know how to play defense, give up easy baskets to keep the flow running up and down like a track meet.

D So what if Silsbee upset Yates and have to play the next round and find out someone from Yates still test positive afterwards just saying.

Exactly.  Actually I understood the rule in the playoffs because you have to keep the bracket moving.  The rule made by this district was just lazy, unimaginative stupidity. 

I do.  That was the dumbest rule ever and cost Silsbee a share of the district championship.  But you are right...once they instituted that asinine rule and enforced it against Vidor, there was no going back.  I am assuming this is the first time it’s arisen these playoffs or any team who got screwed is going to have a helluva beef with the uil.  

Yes Yates was exposed in their game saturday.  By rules they are supposed to sit out 7 days and have to have a negative test after 5 days before participating.  From what i have been told HiSD has fought to move this game to friday to try to circumvent that rule and the playoff schedule to keep yates from having to use their jv and freshmen.  Now anyone knows that i am anti big city schools and what goes on there as far as transfers etc.  But i will say i hate to see this covid crap messing up anyones season, but the rules set should be what is followed.  No exceptions should be made.  Would it have been fair in our district to have let us reschedule our games after you were forced to forfeit yours?
