I wouldn't mind seeing Coach Mann come back. Where is he at these days? He's the only guy I can think of that fits that description.

Austin actually ran for over 2700 in only 12 games, we lost in the second round to Elgin. Had he not been pulled like Tray Williams doesn't get pulled he would have easily surpassed the 3k yard mark, but he probably only played in the second half of 6 games that year. Beck had over 2200 and 124 catches I believe with a 22 catch/320 yard performance in bi-district that year.

Ok, I know alot of you guys may say I'm crazy but a guy I played with at Crosby in 03, Philip Beck. Had 124 catches 2000+ yds and 22 TDs in 12 games at the 5A level and had 200+Yds Rec against the state champs Lamarque that year. No one can match that production, our QB Kellen Haynes also threw for 4,200 yds and 40 Tds ran for 800 and 12 TDs in 12 games that year also. Not the big time recruits that the other guys were or physical specimens but they put up massive numbers and we played friendswood, dickinson, Dayton, CE King, and Lamarque and nobody stopped those two guys. I think you have to throw Beck on the list though 180 Yds per game for a whole season, can't deny production. Also on the Tony Brown deal he had a big pick against PNG but Rose torched him THE WHOLE GAME I was there cause my cousin played for Ozen that year, did have the pick 6 but rose balled out on him.

Going over your head I see...Define "Multiple"
    Lets see, Last 3 years:
    2014
    6A: Allen(1 HS) Beat Cy Ranch(10 HS)
Cedar Hill(1 HS) Beat Katy(7 HS)

    5A Aledo(1 HS) beat Temple(1 HS)
Ennis(1 HS) beat Cedar Park(5 HS)

    2013
    6A Allen(1 HS) beat Pearland (2 HS)
Cedar Hill(1 HS) Beat Katy(7 HS)

    5A Denton Guyer(3 HS) beat Brennan(10 HS)
    Aledo(1 HS) Brenham(1 HS)

    2012
    5A Allen(1 HS) beat Lamar (10+ HS)
Katy (7 HS) Beat Cedar Hill (1 HS)

    4A Guyer(3 HS) beat Georgetown(2 HS)

So...4 State champions from "Multiple" school districts:
Guyer.....3 HS compared to Katy 7 HS

    Allen- 1 HS
    Desoto- 1 Hs

    Aledo- 1 HS
Who are the "powerhouses" year in year out in Ft. Worth, Grapevine, etc and all the districts you've named?

    Cedar Hill- 1  Hs
    Stephenville- 1 Hs

Simple fact is....DFW has more single HS districts. They don't build HS's like we do in the GHA. The talent is broken up and spread out in the GHA....Allen, 1 HS 6000 kids...Cedar Hill- one HS district, same with Desoto, SLC....etc.

DFW is overwhelmingly the superior region for football. It has been this way long before AT&T stadium. There is no "home field" advantage at AT&T. It is too big and there too many people from schools who are unrelated to the teams playing.

DFW parents and school districts pay for results. Teaching pay is higher plus Stipend pay is higher. Parents pay to put their kids in passing academies and personal coaches. So parents are investing more in their kids, and schools are  investing more in their programs, in turn you get more trained athletes on the whole, and the highest paid head coaches in the state, and by far the highest paid assistant coaches in the state. There are countless schools with indoors and multiple turf fields on one campus, weight rooms that can accommodate 400-500 kids at the same time. Not to mention the greatest football complex in the world is in DFW, they have home field because its the Football capital of the world PERIOD.

So why wouldn't they let Haynes carry a full staff but now when Babin comes in they let him hire new spots all the sudden. That right there shows the people pulling the strings didn't want to give Haynes a fair shot or do what is supposed to be done. How else can you explain them creating positions for one guy but taking them away from another. So these people who are Principals / Superintendents / Board Members can't honestly say they were doing there jobs with the students in that community's best interest. If you hire a coach he begs for more coaches and you make him coach with only 1 offensive varsity assistant coach, then he has a better season than the last 3 combined, Seniors all coming back, so lets fire him, bring in a new guy(not to bash Babin but fact is he has 140 less wins than Haynes) as an apparent upgrade, then say ok now that Haynes is gone you can hire a full staff. If that doesn't prove that someone who is making the decisions has extremely low character, and has a personal agenda that comes before doing right by the Students you are hired to serve, then everyone on this site is just playing nice and lying to themselves. How can you be in Administration and ask a coach to labor with ONLY 4 varsity assistants in 5A football in TEXAS then fire him and allow the next guy to bring in a full staff, and honestly say to yourself I'm good at my job and operate with type of ethics that student athletes can aspire to. That administration has some serious bipolar tendencies to say the least.

    Spot on, Ole' Skool
The agenda was intensified when the Lumberton board found out that Larry wanted out for Hardin. Yarbro and son was about ready to pack up & head to Hornet Land. We didn't care much for Babin, no way. He'll enjoy plenty of 1-9 / 2-8 seasons at Lumberton. I hope we hire somebody passionate and faithful this next go 'round.

Not that they need one..but what was the reason that HC was taken away from Coach Haynes? Wasn't the football team going in a positive direction?

And it really seems like this is something that one or more board/community members have had in the works all along. To me...that sounds an awful lot like a personal agenda by the board.

All of this is pretty irrelevant. This has been happening forever. When a team loses the coach is an idiot...when the team wins the coach is a genius. I'm not saying coaching doesn't matter because it does. But the ability to coach doesn't have near as much to do with it as the talent of the players on the team.

When Babin left Dville it could've been said that he is a spectacular coach and has built a winning tradition.... Or...it could be said that he had an exceptional group of players relative to the competition they played. If he would've stayed another year I guarantee they go from a 9 win season to a sub .500 season. I guarantee it. And why? Technically coaches get better year after year...and he would've had kids that were under his system for a full 2 years.. So why do I know they would've been bad? Well..the talent graduated and the competition got tougher. Dville would've been good those 2 years with most coaches. And they would've been bad this year with most coaches. And you know what...if alignment doesn't do Lumberton a huge favor they'll struggle under Babin as well.

If a coach truly is a better coach why don't the same coaches win any championship in any sport year after year? Shift of talent. That's why.

When I played for him at Crosby we had the 2nd best defense in the district only behind Dayton, forced more turnovers than anyone else, and had the best offense in he Houston area. Of course Haynes only coached the offense, coach Dickey and coach Mckeyon were our CO-DCs so they coached the defense. Just like Barbary prolly only coaches one side of the ball just like every other coach on earth does except Tom Landry so what's your point. He doesn't coach a lick of defense cause he's an offensive coach, just like Bill Walsh didn't coach a lick of defense because he was an offensive coach. Also you can coach up a scheme and get a kid open, no matter how much you coach you can't make a sorry slow kid tackle a fast better kid no matter how hard you coach. If you aren't t good enough to catch him and then tackle him coaching won't do jack for a defense.

I graduated from Crosby and played for Haynes. The reason why Crosby got better recently is they opened highway 90 from dayton to downtown. Now we get way more and way better athletes. We get kids whose parents move from downtown Houston and wanna move out and North Shore kids that we weren't getting when i went to school there. There are way more numbers in every class for the program and we are big and fast now. When I was there and coach Haynes was our coach we were coming off  1-9 seasons 2 years in a row and then went 6-4 and 8-4 and had the number one offense in the greater houston area both seasons w/ only 1 scholarship player in 2 seasons at a 5A program. So I think he's underrated if anything, but I played for him and love him so I'm biased. But we were terrible before he got there with the worst facilities ever, then we kicked butt coming off 1-9 back to back he got the community behind a bond and now crosby has facilities that attract kids and parents. We were bad after he left the first few years but then the freeway opened and athletes came to play on the nice turf field and new stadium. Thanks Coach Haynes our community is better for having you, and i'm sure a lot of our current success has to do with the facelift you gave the program.

Exactly, Jimmy's & Joe's With Barbay vs. Haynes, All the programs he had that success with at were bad before and been bad since except Crosby. Haynes grew up and graduated from Hardin and wanted to go back to his roots I assume. Hes a career 5A/6A Houston / Metroplex / SETX coach with right at 150 wins and had the only success in school history every job he's had. Barbay is also phenomenal but small 3A  4A and his 2 14 win seasons were with the best 3A player in the state at RB and loaded all over. Still a great coach and coldspring will suffer if he leaves. I think they are about even as coaches honestly, thats why i'm comparing the two, Barbay cant get any extra coaches or extra sway at lumberton if they wont give it to Haynes. They are definitely comparable. Look at Clear Lake and Haltom and Lumberton since Haynes left, Coldspring would probably fall off a bit too if Barbay left, but they wouldn't disappear like those 3 programs did. Coldspring is nuts if they let Barbay go no doubt though.

Yeah but when a school district makes a varsity 5A football team coach with only 4 Varsity assistants and a head coach like Lumberton did this last season, and they had a big name coach with a resume every bit as good as Barbays, and he wasnt allowed by his administration to hire coaches when coaches leave. Look it up Lumberton is a 5A with 4 varsity assistants. It doesnt matter where you go in the state most 5A schools have 8-12 varsity assistants. So you think barbay will be able to talk his Principal and Superintendent to double or triple his staff. LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL. They just reassigned a coach who was a veteran and is shrewd and they consistently took coaches away from him. Lumberton wont be able to hire anyone worth a flip unless the Admin completely changes the way they operate. Lumberton has less coaches on staff than most 3A schools do. How can you expect to get a good coach when you wont let him have a full staff he has bad talent traditionally and you pay jack squat for a 5A job. Why do you think the assistants leave there so fast, its a bad job period.

No, i know that because a board member told me that. He said they had a meeting with Haynes and since he was eligible to receive retirement and continue getting paid he would resign. because of that 1 employee didn't have to be laid off cause it saved the district over 25,000, it's a fact go look at the two salaries big boy. That was the year of the state budget crisis when houston isd laid off hundreds of employess all surrounding schools had huge lay offs, Hardin had very little. he directly allowed a school teacher to keep their job insteads of being selfish and demanding they pay him through the remainder of his contract. He had two years left on his contract when he resigned at 80,000+ so he walked away from over $100,000 to help other employees. So be careful before you say the guy wasnt liked.

The big problem in Beaumont is that people in Beaumont and from Beaumont just think there really isnt a problem. Stop defending the district, it doesn't make you or the city worse to say there is corruption and shady stuff going on. Instead of trying to act like there isnt a problem and hoping it will go away hold the people responsible accountable and fix your cities school district. Quit promoting people into power that are obviously not doing their jobs thoroughly and giving everyone a black eye and ending up on the news every other night. It's not normal to have the fbi and tea come in and to constantly have under the table activities come to light. the need to replace everyone at the top and start making wholesale open book change. If you defend BISD at this point and think its just like any other school district you are in 100% denial, but hey ignorance is bliss.
