  1. I would say that about Obama you'd at least be wrong about D and E. the others are opinions, so you'd be entitled to them.
  2. i think palin would be a better announcer than coach. she's like the john madden of presidential candidates. she and john share many qualities: A) completely unattractive completely annoying C) completely incompetent D) they both avoid questions that they don't know the answer to by going off on seemingly unrelated tangents E) even the experts question keeping them around
  3. not even I believe that you believe that. Silsbee may win it, but they won't cakewalk past the hawks.
  4. i agree with you, lazeek. he's an amazing talent, but his size will hurt him. we'll have to see how he progresses over the next few years.
  5. I'm still pulling for the rays, but Hamels might be the fat lady singing for Tampa Bay.
  6. Blanton started and pitched well for the phils, and hit a HR to boot (it was only his second hit since being traded to the phillies)
  7. this is a great win for the cards! i know nicholls st. is terrible, but this just shows that our girls are progressing. last year, nicholls state was 2-17-1, with lamar being their only conference victory, which they won 4-1. this year they are 2-15, so it's safe to say they are at a similar level to last year, and the cards beat them 3-1. another extremely encouraging stat: last year's lamar team was outscored by opponents 96-2. this year they've been outscored 35-11 (not counting exhibitions, which would make it 37-12). although this is still a poor ratio, it's quite an astonishing improvement. it should also be noted that the cards had two games cancelled, both of which were games that they would've had a very good chance to win.
  8. Huh? ??? everyone keeps sayin that we havent clinched a playoff spot yet..cuz their sayin if hf beats silsbee then it will be a tie..im just sayin that aint gonna happen cuz how could they expect hf to beat silsbee when they dont even expect hj to beat silbee when hj beat hf last night...know wat i mean? translation: HJ beat HF. Nobody expects HJ to beat Silsbee. if nobody thinks HJ can beat Silsbee, how can anyone expect HF to beat Silsbee? HF should not beat Silsbee, therefore HJ is essentially a lock to make the playoffs.
  9. Like i said in my earlier post( all the refs) were moroons. Especially the HEAD JUDGE pure IDIOTS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Holding calls aside....the last play of the game did have me scratching my head about the refs...so I may just have to agree with you!!! ;D I've never seen them kick the PAT of a game winning TD in OT. ??? could it be because of possible tie-breakers at the end of the season? if they're based on points, that could be important later on.
  10. I have two predictions: 1. HJ comes in, high off of their recent success and plays their butt off for four quarters. if so, mustangs win 35-24. 2. HJ comes in, spoiled by their recent success, and when the mustangs score twice early, they give up. if so, mustangs win 56-0.
  11. the announcers cracked me up during OT. they practically jumped through my computer when he missed that kick, then realized it was a bit extreme to be so excited about the misfortune of a HS student . great game, great result for lumberton.
  12. what kind of leg does the PNG kicker have?
  13. lumberton just fumbled, but apparently everyone in blue thinks he was down.
  14. did the announcers just suggest he might have a "torn muscle", "dislocation", or possibly a "carpet burn"? ;D ;D ;D
  15. it took me until midway through the second game to decide who i'd root for. this the first series i can remember where i liked both teams. that being said, GO RAYS!
  16. TUCSON, Ariz. -- Arizona coach Lute Olson has retired after 25 years with the Wildcats. "This was not a decision that was made lightly," Olson said in statement. "I've had a wonderful run at The University of Arizona. I leave with a great sense of pride in what we have accomplished here." Speaking at a brief news conference at McKale Center, Arizona athletic director Jim Livengood did not designate a successor -- even on an interim basis. He said a national search would begin soon. "I do not have a decision at this point in time in terms of who's going to head our men's basketball program," Livengood said. "But that will be announced in the very, very short future." ESPN's Dick Vitale first reported the story, saying Olson would be replaced by assistant coach Mike Dunlap, a former Denver Nuggets assistant and Metro State coach who joined the program in May. "At this stage in my life, I want to devote my time to my children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends," Olson said. "I look forward to watching Wildcat basketball and visiting with my colleagues in the coaching profession. It is time to pass the program on to a younger staff, to transition the university to the next generation of basketball." Olson missed all of last season after taking a personal leave of absence for what he later termed "a medical condition that was not life-threatening." Interim coach Kevin O'Neill led Arizona to a 19-15 record and the school's 24th consecutive NCAA tournament appearance, the nation's longest active streak. When Olson returned from his leave in April, he said O'Neill was no longer part of his staff and that he planned to coach for the remainder of his contract, which runs through 2011. On Tuesday, Olson said that he was fired up about the upcoming season. "I feel much more energized at this point," he said at the team's media day. That feeling apparently changed quickly. Olson skipped a scheduled luncheon on Wednesday and missed practice the last two days. Olson did not appear at the news conference announcing his decision, nor was there any mention of his health in the statement released by the school. Vitale on Olson Lute Olson's tenure in Arizona has been special and Dick Vitale, for one, will be sorry to see him leave the sidelines. Story The announcement comes after a year of upheaval for Olson, whose contentious divorce from wife Christine was finalized last spring. Five months later, Olson announced that he was engaged to Kelly Pugnea, 47, a Tucson resident for 25 years. Last month, the university reported a possible minor NCAA recruiting violation by Olson, who called it "an unfortunate and regrettable error." Olson went 589-187 at Arizona, and he led the Wildcats to the 1997 national title and four Final Fours, most recently in 2001. His 327 Pac-10 wins are a conference record. Olson is 780-280 overall as a Division I coach. As rumors of Olson's retirement spread, television news trucks lined the street outside McKale Center. Reporters camped out inside the building for hours as Livengood and other school officials huddled in the athletic department offices, refusing to confirm or deny widespread reports that Olson had quit. "This has been a long day for everybody," Livengood said. "Things were released, unfortunately, non-confirmed, a long time ago, and it seems like it's been hours and hours and hours." Olson's decision sent shockwaves across a basketball-obsessed campus. Football coach Mike Stoops was swarmed by reporters after practice, and none wanted to ask about Arizona's Homecoming game against No. 6 USC, which pits two teams tied for first in the Pac-10. "He's an icon," said Stoops, who first met Olson when Stoops was a football player at Iowa. "I just hope and pray he's in good health and happy with his decision. He deserves it. He's put a lot of time and energy into building a tradition here, second to no other across the country." Olson was the coach for one season at Long Beach State before he took over at Iowa for the 1974-75 season. He was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame in 2002.
  17. i sure hope so! think of the drama!
  18. MADRID, Spain -- Seve Ballesteros' brain tumor is cancerous and he will undergo another operation to relieve pressure caused by swelling and bleeding that have recently developed. The remaining parts of the malignant tumor, located in a very deep part of the brain, will be removed in Friday's procedure. La Paz Hospital said Thursday that the surgery is "of great complexity." Three doctors will operate on Ballesteros. Javier Heredero, head of the hospital's neurosurgery unit, will be accompanied by neurosurgeons Marcelino Perez Alvarez and Alberto Isla. The operation is due to begin early in the morning and is expected to last until the afternoon. The 51-year-old Ballesteros was in stable, but serious, condition before the operation, the hospital said. Based on an analysis of cells already moved, the tumor is classified as an oligoastrocytoma, a type that affects "cells that cover and protect the nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord," the hospital said. Ballesteros was admitted to the hospital Oct. 6, and 10 days later, a sizable part of the tumor was taken out. Part of his skull was removed -- a procedure known as decompressive craniotomy -- to allow room for a swelling brain to expand. Doctors said it was not uncommon after such complex operations. Ballesteros, who won three British Opens and two Masters, briefly lost consciousness while at Madrid's international airport on Oct. 6 and was admitted to the hospital. In a personally signed statement from his hospital bed, Ballesteros said he faced the "hardest challenge of my life." Ballesteros, who won a record 50 tournaments on the European Tour, retired last year because of a long history of back pain and has since concentrated on golf course design. Ballesteros transformed European golf. After the Ryder Cup was expanded to include continental Europe in 1979, Ballesteros helped beat the United States in 1985 to begin two decades of dominance. He also captained Europe to victory in 1997 at Valderrama, Spain. Ballesteros and Jose Maria Olazabal made one of the most formidable partnerships in Ryder Cup history, with 11 wins, two losses and two halves.
  19. OU sucks so bad, that, even though i'm drunk, i wouldn't take it home with me.
  20. i went to post this, and jesusfreak had basically said the same thing but made it sound better, but here it is anyway: on the flipside, if your son were involved, you would want to know the full extent of what has happened before your child was tried and convicted through the media. there are at least 4 sides to this story, and the only one we're hearing is the girl's, and that only through her outraged father. there are a lot of people being irresponsible right now: 1) the media, for the way they're handling this 2) those who condemn the father or daughter for what allegedly happened to her. 3) those who condemn the boys without having any knowledge of this case beyond the slanted reports we're getting on the news. if you get on here and want to speculate, go speculate about an upcoming football game, not this.
