  1. i just read the original post. it made me want to punch babies. there, does that count? i said something.
  2. not good to see some of the projections slowly sneaking westward.
  3. central wins the district, and no lumberton in the playoffs? i've kinda been thinking the same thing.
  4. if we do need to evacuate, when will need to start leaving?
  5. coop, you willing to give odds on whether we have to evacuate or not?
  6. the cnn map currently shows it hitting around new orleans as a category 3. of course, as ya'll have said, things can change.
  7. somebody's about to get rocked.
  8. HJ is surely going to be much improved as well. you can't bring back that many starters not be a considerably better team. i'm going to take HJ in a close one.
  9. didn't they play last year? if so, who won?
  10. that's incorrect. you use a bus.
  11. i'm not a dayton fan. i've just been reading a lot of talk about how lumberton is better than dayton and whatnot. i have no doubt that lumberton will do some tinkering and turn things around.
  12. if lumberton plays like this in district, we won't be seeing a lumberton/dayton playoff game. they still have some time to right the ship, though, and hopefully they'll turn it up like they did last year.
  13. scrimmage or not, this better end all of the talk about who's the better team.
  14. I was just picking at ABR3 because he didn't say why it was a good showing...and wanted to see what counter-argument he had. I like to rattle him some because I know he is very proficient at basketball and football knowledge. Wanted him to break down the 'other' futbol for me... I am hoping the SLC soccer product is more improved this year. The win by UTSA over Houston was a nice win to put in the back pocket for the SLC. The Cougars were elusive last year, defeating SLC schools SHSU by 1 goal, TXST by 4 goals and UTSA by 3 goals last year. As to the reference by ABR3 that SHSU would not do much better, we have unfortunately not seen the Red Raiders since they narrowly escaped Huntsville with a 3-2 win in OT in 2005. Soccer is one of the sports that struggles at SHSU. Our biggest win was our run through the 2005 SLC tournament and a victory against Mississippi State in 2006. Perhaps a new coach can make a difference for us, just like you are hopeful they can for you...schedule is definitely built for a better record. oh, ok... sorry ;D. i take back my insults .
  15. uh oh . do both teams have most of their starters in?
  16. What makes this "not a bad showing"...? The final score? Lamar actually getting a shot compared to 24 for the Red Raiders? Playing within four of the #7 team in the Big XII? Soccer is a weird sport if you did not go or watch on TV to get a good feel of "showing"... What makes it a good showing is losing 4-0 to a team that would've beat them 10-0 last year. Losing 4-0 to the #7 team in the big 12 is a good showing when the year before they lost 5-0 to the #7 team in an extremely weak SLC. SHSU, was of course, that super strong #7, and is consequently picked to finish 8th this year. Yes, Lamar got dominated, but they bent without breaking. for Lamar to lose 4-0 against a middle of the road team in a strong conference is a good result, no matter how you try to belittle it. There isn't a team in the SLC better than Tech, so if the girls can keep improving, they should be in a lot more close games this year than last.
  17. "rivals" is an understatement
  18. this will probably be a recurring theme this season, but it definitely looks like they're taking some steps in the right direction.
  19. i've never heard about one, but i would definitely join one...
  20. It's mandatory for all UT fans...
  21. I tell you what, those numbers would be impressive against a bad 2A team, but to put them up against lufkin... WOW!
  22. i'd love to see the rays somehow make it. talk about history! there's still enough time for them to fall out of the playoffs (there's no way they can be happy about having the red sox sniffing their rears) , but they're playing fantastic ball right now. if they keep up this pace, and go into the playoffs hot, who knows what might happen. so let's say... Rays/Brewers. That would be a series i could enjoy.
  23. tough to see a hometown kid struggle, but the immediate success he had last year should insure that the BoSox won't give up on him too quickly.
