  1. Someone's gotta mention those Hawk Hecklers... they make any environment tough to play in.
  2. they're 5-0 this year, with a few pretty decent wins against a couple of decent mid-major teams, winthrop and wichita state. they also beat notre dame. are they actually going to compete this year? (i did notice that only 2 teams in the big 12 have records that are worse than 4-2)
  3. if i go this week do i at least get to sit in the caboose?
  4. i don't think i'd guarantee certain victory against a squad that just knocked off the #1 team in the state...
  5. for some of the other schools around: Anuhuac Charging Aardvarks the Kirbyville Killer Nannygoats West Brook Wet Mooses
  6. Now this is certainly news that is worthy of a new thread! Congrats Mr. Hussey!
  7. ridiculous... New England would beat the L-train by a touchdown (maybe even two!)
  8. it was 200 when i got there a couple of months ago, but there wasn't a requirement when i first joined, so i'm not sure if they bumped it up again or not...
  9. we could always talk about LaMarque
  10. I'm not really sure what you mean. i've brought it up in relevant threads. the title of this thread is lumberton vs. odessa-permian, and the last several posts have been about either lumberton vs. dayton several weeks ago or lumberton vs. dayton two weeks from now. i'm not knocking anyone for looking ahead, i'm excited about the possible rematch as well. I'm just suggesting to those who are debating it on here that they start a new thread about it instead of getting off track on this one.
  11. i'm not entirely sure what you're asking, but i think the answer is this... someone with +3/-2 has been applauded 3 times and smited 2 times. someone with +45/-43 has been applauded 45 times and smited 43 times. The more you post, the more feedback you'll get, whether good or bad.
  12. why don't ya'll just start a lumberton vs. dayton rematch thread?
  13. also, the buzz created by lumberton has been the most talked about sporting event on here, so if it keeps bringing new people to the site, and keeps the posters active, it's not necessarily a bad thing.
  14. i feel you, but you just started another one...
  15. i just don't see the point... you'd have to find a way to split it evenly, and then instead of playing 22AAA in the first round of the playoffs, the two districts that split from 21AAA would probably just play each other in the first round, meaning that you're still going to end up with WOS, Kirbyville, and Jasper/Silsbee moving on. It would really do no more than dilute the first round of the playoffs.
  16. I don't know about that... it was pretty polarized, with a few really good teams and a few really bad teams. there wasn't too much middle ground. If you break it up, then you might pick up one extra quality team in the playoffs and a couple of teams that probably have no business being there.
  17. Playing good teams in pre-district is beneficial. Unlike college ball, your ranking doesn't matter, so why not play teams that are going to challenge you and make you better. Lumberton has had a great season, but i think if they'd played a difficult pre-district schedule they'd be even better than they are right now. Look at it like this... lumberton probably gained more expererience and confidence from playing and beating LaMarque than they did in all of their pre-district games. Why not play teams of this caliber at the beginning of the year so that you are already geared to playing against a high level of talent when district starts. Lumberton had a flukey win over Dayton at the beginning of the year, and was fortunate that they didn't have any more tough games until the last few weeks of district. They had time to play some decent teams to gear up for PNG, Nederland, and their playoff opponents. I honestly think that if Dayton and Lumberton had played again the week after their first game, Dayton would've easily beaten them. Now, because of the experience that Lumberton has gained from it's last 5 games or so, i think it could be an even match. Why not get to that level earlier in the season instead of hoping that you can get there late in the year? There's really nothing to lose from playing good teams in pre-district, with the possible exception of a flashy record.
  18. and they're scrimmaging the cowboys and LSU
  19. i also wouldn't say that a district which swept it's first round games, and took 2 of 3 teams to the third round is having a down year. i really am starting to like the odds of ltown and dayton meeting in round 4. down year? i don't really think so. and to say that LaMarque is weak is rediculous. Just because they aren't the same team that was winning championships in years past doesn't mean that they aren't better than about 90% of the 4A teams out there.
