what do people think of ozen this year?
bullets13 replied to ozen8's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Ozen will benefit from an improved team and a smaller district. ya'll will still be the underdogs against the big names, but you should have a chance for an upset or two, and possibly of sneaking into the playoffs. -
the boys didn't look so hot last night.

this makes me happy. now if the rays can win, i'll be estatic. the rays need to go ahead and put it away tonight so that they can set their rotation for the series. the phils are all going to be rested and ready to go. -
Shaquille O'Neal says he'll get back at the San Antonio Spurs for using the "Hack-a-Shaq" strategy in games where they led handily in last season's playoffs. "The only thing I call cowardly is when you're up by 10 and do it," O'Neal told Phoenix radio station KTAR. "That's a coward move and [spurs coach Gregg Popovich] knows that and I'll make them pay for it." O'Neal said he thinks the "Hack-a-Shaq," where teams foul O'Neal, a notoriously poor free-throw shooter, whenever possible late in games, makes the game less appealing to fans. He said he didn't have a problem with the ploy, only the timing. O'Neal shot 59 percent from the field last season, but only 50 percent from the free-throw line. There was talk that the NBA might change the rules on the "Hack-a-Shaq" during the offseason, but that didn't happen. O'Neal was asked if he was disappointed the rules weren't changed. "[The strategy] doesn't work," O'Neal said on KTAR. "You know San Antonio tried it but they went home a couple weeks after we went home. "I just have to go to the line and hit them and make them pay, and I will, I'm not worried."

BOSTON -- The Boston Red Sox's season isn't quite up in flames, but a small fire at a landmark near Fenway Park can't be a good omen. [+] EnlargeAP Photo/Charles Krupa The Citgo sign, looming over Fenway Park, was unblemished prior to Wednesday's fire. The fire Wednesday melted and blackened some of the plastic panels on the red, white and blue Citgo sign over Fenway's Green Monster in left field. No one was injured. Steve MacDonald, a spokesman for the Boston Fire Department, said the flames and smoke, first spotted by bystanders and drivers about noon, were quickly put out and the blaze was likely caused by an electrical short circuit. Damage was estimated at $5,000. The Green Monster has seen several balls soar over it in recent days. Boston trails Tampa 3-1 in the American League Championship Series. According to Citgo's Web site, the 60-foot by 60-foot sign -- which has been on top of a building by the ballpark since 1940 -- includes more than 5 miles of neon tubes, lit by 250 high-voltage transformers. In 2005, however, the company renovated the sign and switched to light emitting diodes (LEDs), according to the Boston Globe.

Roger Clemens said Wednesday that reports he is unhappy with the New York Yankees are untrue. Clemens "The reports were false as many have been over the course," Clemens told Houston's KRIV-TV about reports he was unhappy the team didn't include him among those honored during the final game at Yankee Stadium. "I don't pay attention to them. We are trying to do things the right way. "They had some story that I was watching it. I was actually in Florida in the instructional league at the time the game was going on, the last Yankee Stadium game was happening, I was on a plane flight coming home. So I never saw any of the game itself," he said. Clemens did not play during the 2008 season and said he's not interesting in playing again. "Right now I don't have the desire to do so," Clemens told KRIV. "I'm enjoying what I'm doing, the number of things I'm doing around town, just enjoying that. "I don't know if I will ever say no. I would have to know that I could perform at a high level and that my body would be able to hold up," he added. Clemens has a personal services contract with the Houston Astros, which takes effect when he officially retires. However, GM Ed Wade said the Astros don't have plans to use Clemens as part of their training process right now. "He has a huge amount of knowledge of the game, and at some point in time he will be able to lend that expertise," Wade told KRIV. "We have a full-time staff that works with our players and if you have confidence in your staff then you oughtta let them do the job and not fragment the situation." Clemens said he would be interested in working with some of the Astros' minor leaguers this offseason, as he has done in the past. "If they ask me to be a part of that I will be there with open arms," Clemens said. "I'm there with Koby [his son, a catcher in the Astros' minor league system] and when we run around, and the other pitchers or players are around, it's great because I think the more I'm around, the more comfortable they are about asking questions, which is great. I enjoy helping because they are chasing their dreams." However, Clemens, an 11-time All-Star and seven-time Cy Young Award winner, said he doesn't feel he can play any longer. "I think I said that a long time ago that I'm not a quitter," Clemens told KRIV. "I'm never going to quit. I think I'm just going to walk away. I think I will never be too far from the game. "There's a time when everybody has to walk away from it, when you feel you can't do it any longer," he said. He refused to discuss his legal issues. "We're doing things the right way, rocking and rolling, doing it the right way," Clemens told the TV station. "We're not going to get involved with all of the stuff that's out there and that's it. "I'm not going to discuss it one bit. We're handling it the right way," he said.

if you dont have anything intelligent to say then dont say anything at all please! that post is very intelligent. it is silly to put kirbyville amongst most of those teams. still, kirbyville is very good, and i'm glad they're getting some recognition, even if it's in the wrong place. -
come on buc, this is 2008, not 1958. as a professional athlete, he should expect to be booed and ragged on by fans of his opponents, but this type of attack cuts deep. True enough...still think its excessive but I guess its how you take it. as a white man, in a white man's world, it's tough for me to guess how i'd take something like that in a similar situation. i think the league is in a position where they want to attract foreign-born players, so they'll do whatever they can to provide a secure environment for the foreign-born players they already have.

congrats!

this game should be interesting. Lumberton's defense was fantastic this past week against central, but if Ozen does their homework and comes up with a good gameplan, the should be able to move the ball. i'm going to have to pick lumberton, but Ozen is more than capable of beating this team.

yay! give me phils/rays, or give me death! -
I wouldn't call anyone a god, but beating SLC is certainly something. ANY TEAM CAN BEAT ON ANY GIVEN WEEKEND. Even SLC, and if a team does beat SLC dose that make that a automatic top 10 team? you have to expect a big jump for a team beating SLC, especially if they're undfeated. i don't know their record, but if they haven't lost a game, and have beaten SLC, i think a top-ten record is fair. as for WB, they obviously should be higher.
