  1. your son is a better kid than i was... if my mom had told me i was too sick to play, i would've laughed at her. good news for him that he'll get to play anyway.
  2. what do you know about temple? it seems like they handled a pretty good kelly team without much trouble...
  3. depends on the classification... in this situation, i don't who i'd take, but in a generalization, i'd take the big man in the 1A, 2A, 3A, but in 4A or 5A i'll take the guard.
  4. i saw him on ESPN last night but had it muted, so i wasn't sure what was up... this is a nice story.
  5. as for my player and coach, i've decided to go with dick vitale as a player/coach. ;D ;D ;D
  6. school size is a big issue... if you only have 60 boys in the whole school to chose from, as opposed to 1600, obviously you're not going to have as many big men... another thing that probably plays a factor is that anyone who is tall and dominant in basketball is going to transfer to a bigger school. you get basically no recognition in 1A basketball, even if you're amazing. if you're tall, you have to move up in classification and compete against other quality big men so that you can get your name out to colleges.
  7. big win, even if it wasn't a good win. 3-1 in conference isn't bad! it seems like the cards are starting to hit their stride a little bit.
  8. well, as an excuse for the "nerds" from rice, rice hasn't had a good team in ages. as for houston, they're really coming around as a team, but 30 bucks to attend the game is a bit steep.
  9. The Hawk Hecklers! They're almost as valuable to the success of the team as the players and coaching staff... with fans like that, you're always playing 6 on 5 basketball.
  10. when did central dominate ozen? when they only had freshmen and sophomores? i'm not trying start anything, that's a legitimate question... i don't remember central ever owning ozen.
  11. aTm should still find a way to get into the big dance...
  12. It's really still too early for this, but i'm going to go ahead and say lumberton/nederland go 1st/2nd, but i won't predict the order. as for third, LCM, PNG, Vidor, and Central are all in for a dogfight, although one of these teams will probably establish themself as the front runner, and i think either vidor or LCM will drop off sometime in the 2nd half of district.
  13. I would've been devestated if i wasn't able to play my senior year of high school. as for that commitment, I'm sure that we're not the only people who have heard about this incident. in college the whole program's success is not going to be decided by whether or not he plays, and that's something that he better learn quick. If he keeps up the antics and the attitude, he'll be off the team so quick his head will be spinning, although he could probably always come back to lamar...
  14. i originally picked HJ to win a close one, but without Burrell i'm going to change my guess to a push. anything can happen, but right now i'll give silsbee the slight edge (as much as it pains me to do so)
  15. as i was saying, the argument is already started, i'm just giving people a place to duke it out without messing up other threads.
  16. i think a better quote would be "THE HJ TEAM LAST YEAR WAS DIFFERENT THAN THIS YEAR'S". don't kid yourself. they are still a great team, and they've beaten some great teams already this year. They lost a superstar, but they've got a couple of more in the making. WOS played a good game against them, but if you're going to take a game that HJ played without one of their best players, and when several of their other players were sick, and that they still WON, and say that they aren't as good this year, you might need to look back at some of their other results this year.
  17. what about the 80% of the forum that isn't a fan of either. there was a lot of talk on this subject in a couple of other threads, so why not have a thread for the discussion, instead of taking away from other threads that are unrelated/loosely related. also, you'll notice that i've asked posters to include why they chose the coach that they did, which will open discussion up about them. this way each will have a chance to plead their case.
  18. this was a loss to a pretty damn good team, at least. baylor probably only needs 4 or 5 more wins to get into the tourney now.
  19. i agree. should've at least been on foxsw my pleasure... it's always nice to get updates from people when i'm watching something else... glad i could return the favor.
  20. thanks for the moral support Coop . key to the game was foul shooting. Baylor 39/47 for 83% aTm 36/59 for 61% I'm a horns fan, but i'm on the baylor bandwagon this year ;D
  21. [move]Final! 116-110 Baylor wins!!!!!!!!!!![/move]
  22. made both freethrows, aTm hit a three... baylor on the line with 9 seconds left... made both!
