HJ will not lose to the runner up or 3rd place team from 22-3A. ;) ;D
Lack of Bball intelligence, Wow! Didnt Hj and Sutherland lose to Splendora in the 1st round?
Ahhh..........so is joubert an un intelligent coach because they lost early in the playoffs.........If you are judging intelligence by records you are barking up the WRONG tree pal!!!! Not shocking you brought that year up.........another one of your people got "messed with" that year!
So every black player is "My People" and why is Joubert name always coming out of your mouth?
Here you go! Playing the race card. What a joke! You know exaclty who your people are and no every black player is not your people. Plenty of black kids play every year for HJ so clearly I am not talking about that. Why does jouberts name come up????? Why did Sutherlands name come up????When you dog one coach for losing in a certain round of the playoffs you might compare it to the one you think is the almighty. Thats why I brought it up!
Didn't dog Sutherland or his staff. I just said never say never because they have lost in the 1st round before.
Who hasn't lost in the first round. You are not paying attention!!!! The first round game is against the 2nd or 3d place team from a crappy district.............that is why AAW said it!
If i call your district crappy will that be bashing? ;D ;D ;D
no, that would be ignorant, considering we're represented at state every year.

Players Cut From World Cup Squad
Ching got screwed...
i wholeheartedly disagree. he's garbage. he's never shown any ability to score against quality teams. he can't create for himself, and he's not fast enough to get into good positions for cheap goals. he's the poor man's brian mcbride with less talent and without the nose for goal. i'm more than happy to have a couple of forwards make the team who have speed, creativity, and recent records of scoring lots of goals. Buddle's leading the MLS, and Gomez led the Mexican league in scoring this season. Ching has been hurt. That's an easy choice for me. -
Let go were defenders Chad Marshall and Heath Pearce; midfielders Alejandro Bedoya, Sacha Kljestan and Robbie Rogers; and forwards Brian Ching and Eddie Johnson.
If Lebron becomes a free agent, no trade is needed. I wish he would give Houston a look. There is a fine young team down here. If Yao gets healthy.....look out!! He'll probably end up as a Laker anyway. ;D
i think the reason a trade would be needed is because based on NBA rules, Cleveland can pay him more money than any other team. If he put them in a sign and trade me or lose me anyway situation, they'd arrange a trade, and then sign him for the max contract before they traded him.
-
i can understand roy o's frustration... 9 starts, 9 quality starts, a 2.66 ERA, 60 K's, and a 2-6 record. the astros have scored a total of 18 runs in his 9 starts. it's tough to win games when your team scores two runs a game when you pitch.

i saw an espn analyst, i don't remember which one, who said the mavs have enough parts to trade for him without giving up dirk. if cleveland is faced with losing bron bron anyway, dallas would be a good option to trade with, as they could probably get 3 really solid young players in return to start their rebuilding. dirk and lebron and kidd plus a good defensive center would be a lot like the celtics team that won a championship a couple of years back, with the difference being that i'd give dirk a slight not over any of the boston 3 party, and lebron a HUGE nod over any of the 3. even if they did trade dirk for him, simply pairing lebron with a hall of fame point guard would be a step up from what he has in cleveland, plus if they did trade dirk, they're going to get to keep haywood and maybe butler or terry. i'm definitely curious to see what happens.

"Roy's contract has a no-trade clause, not a trade-me clause," Wade said. "There is no rule that allows a player in his contract status to demand a trade. So demand, request, hold your breath until you turn blue, it's all the same. It's acknowledged and noted." that's funny stuff right there :)
-
The good news is that Roy is pitching well this year. Last year he was kind of hit or miss, but he's driving his value up some this year, so maybe they'll get some good prospects for him if they do trade him.

After being swept by the Jays last weekend, they've won 5 straight, including a big 2-game sweep of the Angels. They've increased their lead to 4 1/2 games, and are 7 games over .500.

Who would the Mavs give and who would the Cavs get? I don't see the Mavs giving up Dirk, but everyone else is expendable. It sounds like a pipe dream...but Dirk/LeBron would be greatness.
i think they'd give up dirk. i love dirk, but realistically, lebron would be a HUGE upgrade. if you put lebron with dirk's supporting cast, they'd easily be favored to win a championship.
not so fast my friend. Cleveland has a better supporting cast and we all know what happened the past 2 seasons. Dallas supporting cast is not nearly as good as Cleveland. [/quote not a chance. back that up for me somehow... MAYBE before dallas got another proven scorer in Caron Butler and one of the best defensive centers in the league in Brendan Haywood, but not now.

the fact that a top-5 EPL side is extremely interested in him ought to show just how good he still is.

A report in the Daily Mail this morning claims that Thierry Henry will snub interest from Manchester City and join MLS side the New York Red Bulls after the 2010 World Cup. Joe Bernstein writes: "Henry fancies a new challenge to end his illustrious career and MLS side New York Red Bulls are strongly tipped to be his destination, with the 32-year-old Barcelona star excited at the prospect of living in another of the world's great cities." Bernstein adds: "Barca are interested in offering the Frenchman as bait to land Manchester City's £34million Brazilian Robinho but again the answer from Henry is 'Non' because of his American dream." Henry has played just five games for Barcelona so far this season as he struggles with injury. The French captain missed last night’s 0-0 draw with Valencia and has not played for the Primera Division champions since late September. The former Arsenal legend played in both of France’s World Cup qualifiers against the Faroe Islands and Austria last week, he scored a penalty in the second fixture. Henry’s Barcelona contract expires at the end of the 2010/2011 season

That's pretty sweet! He'll definitely be the best player the MLS has ever had.
Is his career finished across the pond? I believe David Beckham showed us that the money is nice, but I sure miss the level of play at it's highest point. Barcelona make plans to release him?
Henry has a lot more to offer, soccer wise, than david beckham ever did, although he's not the superstar that beckham is outside of soccer. this move will cause less of a stir than beckham, but is much more exciting for us real soccer fans. he's had a tough year with Barca due to injury, but he's still a bonafide superstar, even if he's no longer in the category of the best players in the world.

soccer's a second class citizen in SETX. many of the players prefer to play other sports instead of playing soccer year round. That's not the only explanation, but it's a partial one.

Hoop Scoop says LU’s Roccaforte on recruiting roll
bullets13 replied to NickKBTV's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
isn't this the case pretty much every year? "great" recruiting classes that either don't materialize, or the players come and underperform. I'm with Lumber... i'll believe it when i see it. -
i watched the game, and the tackle was pretty nasty. i thought it was a red card foul when i saw it. there were also several fouls in that game committed by portsmouth that should've been carded, but the ref wasn't handing them out. if he had been, this foul might have happened. the only good news for me is that i don't particularly like germany or ballack, but this still sucks royally for him.

From the Beaumont Enterprise online: [Hidden Content] Southeast Texas anglers can look forward to the opportunity to cast a line from a new fishing pier at Walter Umphrey State Park - something they haven't been able to do since before Hurricane Ike. Jefferson County Commissioners on Monday approved plans for the pier restoration project at the park, located on Pleasure Island in south county. Precinct 3 commissioner Michael Shane Sinegal said plans call for the pier to be rebuilt as it was before - a lighted walkway jutting into Sabine Lake - but concrete bulkheads will replace wooden pilings. Don Rao, the county engineering superintendent, said the county plans to start advertising for bids on Wednesday, and in four weeks, should open the bids to contractors. The project is about two months ahead of schedule, Sinegal said.
I'm going for Germany and the US... I see Brazil, Germany or Italy winning though.
i have my doubts about italy this year. they always seem to do well in the Cup, but i'm predicting a poor showing from them. they went 7-0-3 in qualify, but against a weak group, and only scored more than 2 goals in a game once. with an anemic offense against weak teams, they're going to have trouble scoring against the best teams in the world, even if their defense can hold opponents to only a goal or two a game. since they won the world cup in 06, they've slowly dropped in the fifa rankings, and are currently 5th. don't get me wrong, they have the talent and the pedigree to win it all, but i just don't feel it this time around.
I know it might be long shot but I seriously have faith that Mexico will triumph and come out holding the trophy
not a chance... but: i wouldn't be surprised if they go further than expected, maybe to the quarters or semis. several of the sites for the games in South Africa are being played at altitudes similar to that at Azteca Stadium, which will certainly play into Mexico's favor.

In what may already be a lost season in Houston, Astros fans can at least look forward to watching Roy Oswalt pitch every fifth day. Houstonians had better savor those starts since it is no guarantee Oswalt will finish the season in Texas. Oswalt, who has a full no-trade close, said in a Thursday interview on XM's MLB Network Radio that he would not automatically close the door on a possible deal. Richard Justice of the Houston Chronicle wrote earlier this week that the Astros may have no choice but to deal Oswalt. With Carlos Lee and Lance Berkman off to dismal starts, Oswalt is valuable trade bait for GM Ed Wade. "That kind of decision appears to be weeks away, but if the losing continues, the Astros would be silly to hold on to their most valuable commodity at a time they have so many holes," Justice writes.
