Sometimes, except we already know the "travel" that certain teams have foregone around here. Opting up for "travel" when you never had more than an hour drive to an opponent isn't convincing.

8-5A D1 projected district from DCTF is fun. Spring Westfield, New Caney, Lufkin, Crosby, West Brook, BMT United, Baytown Sterling, Goose Creem Memorial, Port Arthur Memorial.

Newton is the clear favorite in this one, but East Bernard is seriously battle tested. The records of their pre-district opponents: 10-3, 11-1, 11-2, and 5-6. Goliad, Woodlands Christian, and Ganado are all very good teams. They’ve pulled off 3 arguably upset wins against really good teams in the playoffs. Poth and Lexington are very good teams, and I don’t know if I’ve ever heard of a team avenging a 53-point loss in a playoff rematch, but their upset of Tidehaven was something special. Newton may have their hands full this week.

Give me King, North Shore, PAM, and Newton. Rooting for all 6.

The computers do pretty decent, but there are several funky spreads this week.

L-town has fallen completely off the map. They're something like 2-9 this year, and almost their entire schedule has been against 2A-3A competition.

If DCTF predictions are correct they're going to be a very polarized district. I think they can make the playoffs, though. Just might take a couple of 50-pt beatdowns along the way.

without discussing specific schools, I believe that any school in the state that opts up for football should have to opt up in all sports. Since "travel" is the issue, that's an issue for all sports, not just one. It would be fun watching the administration then try and explain to the community why opting up for an easier football district is worth the majority of the other sports programs suffering.

I wish Kayde Dotson would've come home when he left New Mexico after last season. He's getting meaningful minutes and contributing for Loyola Chicago as a sophomore, and starting a few games.
