Yeah, turf field along with a very nice turf baseball and softball fields. Our Freshman/JV played there this year. The field is nice but the stands are not finished yet.
I enjoyed the Alamo field in Jasper if not the outcome of the game. While it was dated the field was in very good shape and the stadium had a nostalgic feel to it.

I fully expect a battle, two teams going in with only one playoff spot left. Who wants it more will be the major factor, as the comparison of games so far shows inconsistency on both sides.  
 
 
 

A few takeaways from the game. Silsbee beat BC, no question about that. Silsbee did a better job of stopping our offense than I expected. The officiating was not good at all. There were bad calls going both ways. They didn't cost us the game by any means, but just too many mistakes. Premature whistles, bad spots, etc.  They didn't seem biased, just not very good. I expected Silsbee's unsportsmanlike penalties to affect the outcome. They happened, but Silsbee still got their stops.
Silsbee's rushing game was way better than I expected. Or at least we helped them look better by missing way too many tackles. It hasn't been mentioned, but we were down a few key players tonight, and I think the shuffling of personnel hurt our execution.  Both teams had momentum changing bad plays, but I think we just had a few more than the Tigers. In the end, I think both teams need to find out how to play defense or our district won't be very well represented after week 1 of the playoffs. 
I have a hard time saying who will win next week. I think Jasper beat a better BC team than the BC team that Silsbee did up tonight. Either way, good game Tigers.

Prayers for Bridge City's qb, I believe it was 7th grade A team. On the last play of the game tonight in Silsbee he was hurt, and it looked pretty bad. He was not moving, and taken off on a stretcher. Praying for healing for him and peace for his family. Hate seeing that for such a young person, especially on the very last play!! Scary

That's a negative Ghostrider, it will be best for all if Huffman beats Jasper.

Usually as the lone utility of a game update thread for me is to update our scoreboard, I generally will not read a thread once I have gotten a final score in that game.  The only time I may look in a game thread after game day once is when the game thread continues to have life almost a week after the final gun has been fired as it indicates that something is amiss.  I had the opportunity to do that in about 4 different cases and there was certainly something amiss and all for the same reason.
It seems that in all 4 of these cases (I won't mention the specific schools, but after I reveal the problem, I think it will be pretty obvious of which ones I am talking about) supporters of the teams want to lay all of the problems of a team at the feet of the coaching staff, or more particularly, the head coaches at these schools.  I understand frustration at losing to a rival, losing a game that you thought your school should win or by more than you though they should lose by.  But some of the statements in the 4 cases have gone way far beyond that.  They openly question the ability, and in some cases the desire, of these coaches to put a good team on the field. 
Folks, we simply have to stop that.  Jordan Wilson has prided himself on this site being a place where all members of our local community, including coaches, could come to talk about what we all love to talk about, high school sports.  And make no mistake, coaches DO read this site.  However, who would want to come to a site where they are not only told they lack the ability to place the squad of your dreams on the field, but that they really don't care if they do or not.  If you truly feel that way, there are places to have your grievances aired and possibly addressed.  However, this is not one of those places.
Simply airing your problem with a coach here simply accomplishes no end.  It only serves to divide teams and distance coaches from the communities whose support, not scorn, is what they need to maintain the respect amongst their ranks and progress their teams to the point that the fans believe they should be.
Not to mention that such conduct is against the rules of this board.  But I would rather put it in terms of a request that you folks, who I know are capable of restraint even in the extreme moments of frustration, exercise that restraint so that more rigid enforcement of the rules is not necessary.  I do so with this warning, should my request not be heeded, that more rigid enforcement will become necessary.

At the point of contact for the block the defender is a yard or so in front of the runner so not out of the play. Also, you can see the decal on the side of the helmet so he at least had his head forward and most likely saw the blocker but the Back Judge guy looks to be looking right at it so had the best view and would know more than us watching video.
Serious question, what's the blockers move here other than block him, the guy was clearly still in the play? Get in front and slow down to shield him? Hand to the shoulder and push?

In the game last year I thought they had some pretty good athletes but seemed a group of individuals not on the same page, from all reports that issue is far from the case this year. While getting a QB experienced with the offense along with a Coach was a good boost, I think it speak volumes to the level of talent and desire to win of the players in how fast they have adapted to the new system.
All that said, I'm still picking my Falcons!

Hard to see from the angle and video. A part of this though is the blocker is simply taller. Looks like he lowered to make it shoulder to chest though. 

A Lumberton varsity player has set a gofundme page for a jv raider players. During a scrimmage a jv player lost his hearing aid and they found it on the playing field in pieces. So Mason Sikes a senior took it upon himself to set up a gofundme page to help replace the hearing aid so the player can hear in school and on the field again. I can't express how proud I am to be apart of a community where our players help anyone in need in Lumberton!

Interesting night, Crosby definitely has some weapons. That #21 was flat out blazing out of the backfield. You could tell our young defense was struggling early to get their legs underneath them. They had some better success as the evening went on but were still out matched.
Offense took a few steps forward though I would of liked to see us hit the long ball, we seemed a bit off between the QB was throwing away from tough coverage and WRs adjusting to DBs with great speed. That #1 was a blanket over there. I did see a few nice throws into tight coverage with a ball getting there on time though so that was positive. We ran the ball with scattered success though may only have been for a few net positive yards.
Not sure how much this one helped Crosby other than a moment of chest beating but it helped move the needle for a young defense that needs to grow up quick and give our offense a chance to play at game speed.
