1. Crazy question and I have NO IDEA WHY I am even responding to this but here it goes..... ::) 8) Houston Madison: 5. Otis Koontz 93' 4. Darren Heckerd 92' 3. Ivan Jones 86' 2. Phillip Chime 90' 1. Calvin Rice 88' Honorable Mention: Trey Moore 93', Victor Trahan 89', just too many to name!!! 8)
 2. That means they BOTH have a shot at going.... ::) ::)
 3. Oh goodness....seriously? The ONLY teams with a REALISTIC shot at Austin in the area are Silsbee and HJ... ::)....Come on you guys, lets be realistic here....
 4. Wow...seems like a tough situation..unfair, too.
 5.
Dickie- I want to give you an alternate point of view.  In spite of your basketball pedigree, you only know basketball from the top down as opposed to the bottom up.  By that I am talking about where you played, where you were coached and people you were associated with.  It is well established about Mr. Bouttes success but, Kountze, Lincoln and Ozen?  You have got to agree that if you walk into those places you have a head start already.  I know Ozen was a new school but the gene pool was very predisposed to basketball and it was a magnet school. Also, it is often as easier job to take a new school up from Zero than an established school from -50.  You and Mr. Boutte have no record of turning a very failed program or basketball culture on its ear.  So I would suggest to you that if you take the job at Bridge City next year and within a few years have a 29 game district winning streak, I will consider that a MAMMOTH accomplishment.  Mr. Boutte has NEVER entered a situation where there was ZERO talent, ZERO basketball culture, Zero basketball interest and turned it around by developing it hiimself with no administrative support and with no assistants who were dedicated to basketball.  No disrespect to Mr. Boutte but it is simply an experience he has never had and that is not intended to say he is any less for having been in good situations the bulk of his career.  You and I have had this discussion in private and you know that I was very close to a situation similar to what I am talking about.  So, in this case, I can personally testify as to what a big task it is.  Therefore, I think, if you take ALL conditions into consideration, that 29 game streak is a very huge deal.
I can go with that..I have often acknowledged the fact that what Brian English has done in Nederland is HUGE...Not many coaches CAN do what he has done.  And, you are right...29 district wins in a row IS a big deal.  Maybe not as monumental to me as it is to others, but considering where it was done, yes...VERY BIG.  I understand your point.

I have none....I was simply answering your question...Is it that you thought the Nederland streak was special? Sorry to burst your bubble, but its been done before...29 district wins is commendable...but you people were acting like it was earth shattering, and it was not...its over now, so hopefully your team can refocus, and take care of business in the coming weeks....insecure? Are you kidding me?....  ::)
Actually, it's never been done in Nederland DV, so we are soaking it up. You can't stand for Nederland to be doing so well, it's comical! There is no bubble to burst, bc we are happy campers in Mid County. We are 25-6 in a rebuilding year!  :o
They haven't done anything NB.... ::).. Yes they are playing well and will likely win district 20-4A for a second straight year...I am glad Coach E has them going in the right direction...That is a great accomplishment for Nederland...MY point was it was done like that to the 10th power, and no issue was made from it as it has this season...It was done at Ozen so regularly, that it was the EXPECTATION. Lincoln too...I don't think that the PORT ARTHUR News EVER mentioned Lincoln's YEARS OF CONSECUTIVE DISTRICT WINS, as much as they have Nederland's short lived run....I guess I DO have issue with THAT, but its not personal....I wish Nederland luck this season, going forward....I think they have a great coach... he is a good guy, and I consider him to be a personal friend....and has been for the last 12 years...relax... 8)
 7.
So, to be accurate, Lincoln could have a district win streak from '92-'99, not '85-'02. ;)
Lincoln lost 3 games total in 1991....Westbrook, Central, and Houston Madison....They were State Champs that year...35-3....They DID lose to Silsbee in 92..the next year...Coach Gamble DID remind me that you guys were in the same district until the nineties, but didn't remember the 92 loss... :D....blame it on my old age...Thanks for the correction...The streak at Lincoln was from 85-92, then another from 92-99.... ;)

 9. Correction...they lost one in 99, and from what I was told, that was when Coach Gamble came back for that year, and he punished half of the team for being late to a Saturday practice, and did not play them that night....They had a legit excuse, but they sat anyway...Silsbee WAS in the district with them until 1990, but they never beat them in district play.

I am pretty confident that Silsbee had a few wins against Lincoln in district during that span.
Silsbee and Lincoln were not in the same district....They were in the district with Nederland, LCM, Bridge City, WOS, and PNG.
Incorrect. There were a few years in that span that those two were in the same district. '85 thru '91 they were in the same district. Also a couple of times in the 90's.
Silsbee and Lincoln PLAYED each other annually in the 90's but were not in the same district then during those years...Pre 1990, I am not sure if Silsbee was in that district or not, but I remember Coach Gamble teasing Boutte about having a "close" district game during his first season...He said they had not lost in district since 84. I will get either of them on the horn a find out for certain....give me a minute.

 13. Ozen had several streaks..from 2000-2002 we had a 51 overall game winning streak snapped by then #5 nationally ranked Memphis Ridgeway in the championship game of the Razorback Classic in Arkansas...Perk sat out that game because of a shoulder injury, and they beat us 54-52 in OT. The two district streaks we had were from 1999-2004 which was 63 district games, snapped by Vidor, then the second was from 2004-2010, snapped by Nederland which lasted for 72 district contests in a row.
 14. Don't be scared!!! ;D...If you have to put that as your signature, you will only be telling the truth!! 8)...That and "Dickie V DEFINITELY knows his stuff!"....LOL...It will be nothing but TRUTH in your signature line!! ;)
 15.
Go to this forum and note the nice comment about Yates by Jordan 620 [Hidden Content]
Thats a bum statement...sounds like FEAR to me.... :-X.....WHY would he refer to those kids as a "band of thugs"? It is HIGHLY likely that this guy has not had ANY interaction with any Yates player, so that assumption is ignorant at best...THATS sad... >:(
 16. In the words of Dennis Green: They (Nederland) are who we THOUGHT they were!!!  8)....Although I didn't see a 15 point shalacking, I feel an "I told you so" coming on..... ::) ::)....whats that NEW number NB-Dawg?  ;) [move]1[/move]
 17. Silsbee...probably BIG... ;)
 18.
Dick Vitale picking Nederland on the Basketball pickems. What's up with that? And don't even try to say that you think Central will win but not cover the spread. We wont buy that  ;) ;D
I didnt say the game would be a BLOWOUT.. ::) ::)...59-57 Central...I like to be right on the SPREAD and the OUTCOME.. ;)

 21.
Ozen/Central is as close to playoff bb as it gets, i can say that with knowledge of playoff bb, have been going to watch the state tournament for the last 12 yrs.
NO WAY...Central/Ozen in these past two years have looked like JV games at best...Yes, its a neighborhood rivalry, but it has completely lost its luster of 10-12 years ago...And even then, the series was so one sided to where there was never a question as who the winner would be (Ozen)...That was no fun! Ozen won this game for like 11 years in a row! Every tournament, every district ball game, EVERYTIME....Now, I guess its fun to watch "rivals" compete when Ozen and Central face each other, but it is NOTHING like the HJ/Silsbee games...
