He was not quite 21, when they won state, but he was an 18 year old junior, which caused problems the next year for him....He could really play nonetheless.
Point guard named Hunter at Houston Kashmere.  Been quite a while back but he was amazing and I have never seen anyone like him since.
Yeah he was a good one...goes by the name BLUEDOVE3 now and he cost my dad a state title by getting injured in a PLAYOFF WARM UP GAME!!!! >:( >:(... ;D ;D
 2. I will be there at 5:30 pm sharp! ;)...Gotta get my burger in and digested before we go on the air! ;D

Didn't think so! You just get your signature line ready after this week!  8)
Does it matter if i would put money on it Dickie? No it doesn't. The topic of the thread clearly reads chances for state and i am simply arguing that Nederland has a chance.
OK, and I am saying that the odds are slim to none....closer to none! ;)
To quote one of my favorite movies: "Yes! So you're saying there is a chance!". (Lloyd Christmas)
LOL ;D ;D....actually, there is...I mean, you're in the playoffs, right? 8)...slim is better than not being in the hunt! ;)
 5.
Dickie- Do you believe that if this Ozen team had been coached by Boutte that they would be undefeated in district and a favorite to win the region?
I would definitely NOT bet against it...The dynamic would be completely different.  You know that.

 9. Odds of Nederland going to Austin are LONG....Next topic please.. ::)
 10.
You are going to have be more specific, everything in your message can be made an assumption.
Sure, I thought you were in on the convos on other threads...I am referring to the state of Port Arthur, and Beaumont Ozen basketball programs.  Since he left Ozen, the program has literally crumbled, and Nederland has won the last two district titles. I am saying had he not accepted to AD spot in PA, this absolutely would NOT be the case..They may have made the playoffs, and played well, but going 14-0 last year and winning the first 10 this year? No. Some from the area want to put Boutte in the category of coaches who won because of talent, and that could not be FURTHER from the truth.
 11.
Without a doubt, that is beyond noteworthy, but that is not the comparison that was given above. But there is a difference between a team that goes from the BOTTOM with very low potential, and does what you have said, and a team that has the very high potential and does the same.
Ok....if said teams had such potential, what have they done since the departure of the coach that guided them to such success? I mean its supposed to just keep rolling to whoever is hired, because, after all, it IS automatic, right?....but as you see, its not....it SHOULD be obvious as to why said programs are not still rolling through district, and making trips to state...it SHOULD be. No one is denying what Coach E has been able to do in Nederland, but please understand, certain sideline changes has helped to make that success possible...that SHOULD be obvious.
 12. Kristian Smith is a heck of a talent...in my estimation, the Johnson kid could do what Smith does if they switched places...I DON'T think he is better than Smith, but I think he can make the same impact on that team as a JUNIOR.. ;)
 13.
You could actually make the argument on a program rebuilding standpoint, that Nederland's success(or any school that has done the same) over the past few years is bigger than a state tournament apperance by a school that is loaded for one year.  IMO it could be considered a tougher acccomplishment.  I really admire what Coach English has done against the odds he has faced and obstacles he has had to overcome.
Ok...what about a program builder who has gone to the state final four multiple times, like 10, and even winning a state championship or three, with different players? Is that in your estimation, noteworthy?
 14.
Ok  Fewer three pointers-  But with all the alleged extra  driving, do you think you might have an important player foul out or foul out sooner (not all drives are going to create defensive fouls)  Fouls are a very important issue for the Tigers and my guess is that, late in the game, they might not be able to afford to be that aggressive offensively
Thats where the SWEET MID RANGE JUMPERS come into play, baby!! ;D ;D
 15.
We have players that can fill in.  Would we have been better?  I dot know.  Our staff may not have utilized him correctly.  Remember, H-J's staff is a lot 'different' than our staff.  That kid have chosen to attend the school in sour lake, and I'm glad he's having a great yeat.  But I an assure you.  No one from Central is losing any sleep on his decision not to play for Central.
If they don't miss that kid, the Cavs don't miss Lebron..... ::) ::).....Central does not have a kid BETTER than him, including Kristian Smith...They may have one or two as good as, but not better...

I have none....I was simply answering your question...Is it that you thought the Nederland streak was special? Sorry to burst your bubble, but its been done before...29 district wins is commendable...but you people were acting like it was earth shattering, and it was not...its over now, so hopefully your team can refocus, and take care of business in the coming weeks....insecure? Are you kidding me?....  ::)
Actually, it's never been done in Nederland DV, so we are soaking it up. You can't stand for Nederland to be doing so well, it's comical! There is no bubble to burst, bc we are happy campers in Mid County. We are 25-6 in a rebuilding year!  :o
They haven't done anything NB.... ::).. Yes they are playing well and will likely win district 20-4A for a second straight year...I am glad Coach E has them going in the right direction...That is a great accomplishment for Nederland...MY point was it was done like that to the 10th power, and no issue was made from it as it has this season...It was done at Ozen so regularly, that it was the EXPECTATION. Lincoln too...I don't think that the PORT ARTHUR News EVER mentioned Lincoln's YEARS OF CONSECUTIVE DISTRICT WINS, as much as they have Nederland's short lived run....I guess I DO have issue with THAT, but its not personal....I wish Nederland luck this season, going forward....I think they have a great coach... he is a good guy, and I consider him to be a personal friend....and has been for the last 12 years...relax... 8)
It will be the third straight year Nederland has won district not second.  Tied with Ozen and won the tie-breaker in 2009-2010 season; won it outright 2010-2011 season.
I will say this...THIS years district title is not exactly a lock for Nederland...They need to win 2 of the next 3, and thats going to be a task for this team...I still think they will lose at Ozen, and then LCM is lurking..Don't get ahead of yourself... ;)
Those guys I left out (Garriet and Moten) were 3 point shooters...Skip was the BEST mid range jump shooter I have seen at Central since probably Damon Sweet...I didnt forget about them though!  ;)
You are right about Dubie, but not with Moton.  I've seen too many times on a fast break, he pulled up for the a little past the free throw line Jumper.  It was ice water.  That 3 point shot?  Not too much.
Moton who finished in 2005, not 95, by the way, could really shoot it..He shot 3's as well as any Central player to come through there...But as far as 15 foot and in (mid range) Skip, Damon Sweet, and Marshall Scott were tops in THAT category..

No one saw Silsbee losing to Sealy last year. Ricky Seals-Jones is a monster. If they match up with Silsbee again this year, I don't see the Tigers beating them. It's all about match ups folks. HJ matches up well with all those teams because they have speed and size.
I think Silsbee will beat Sealy if they play again this year
I agree.  In fact, when they are shooting a reasonable percentage from three point range, I believe they are a better team than last year.
I would think that Silsbee would be MORE dangerous if they shot LESS three's...They have a crew of kids with some sweet mid range jumpers, and some heat seeking rack finders!! ;D...(translation: guys that can get to the cup!) He wouldve been a great asset to the team. But best of wished to him at H-J
Water under the bridge now. He's doing great for H-J, and we're (Central)are doing fine as well.  We would have been fine with or without that kid.  :) :)
NO SOULJA...Somebody REALLY dropped the ball with that kid (Devante Johnson)...Central would have DEFINITELY been better WITH him...No question about it... ;)

 23. Look folks, lets not fool ourselves here..The ONLY teams IN THIS AREA with a LEGIT SHOT at winning their respective regions are Silsbee and HJ boys, along with Ozen girls...Now if ANY other area team even GOES to the REGIONAL tourney it will be a shocker, but even at that, reality will strike then without a doubt...Good luck to all of the area teams, but realize, it will be an uphill climb to get to Austin.
