Is that all you got? Please...man give it a rest...I know what I can do on the sidelines, as a head or asst. coach...I know the game, and some of you HATE that...it doesn't matter....Let me know if you wanna wear my state ring, because that will likely be the closest you will ever get to one...coattail indeed.... ::).
Envy? Ha! ::) I know the game just as well as you do ;) I don't need a state ring to remind me of where I've been, bc I know what lies ahead of me. 8)
Although there is no way to prove or disprove that, I will take the high road and say thank you.

They are absolutely loaded, and will win state this season. They only lost last night because they had an off night at Ozen, and shot poorly...Had nothing to do with Ozen's defense...20-4A is hands down is THE BEST DISTRICT in the state... ::) ::) ::) NB-Dawg, Dogs 1218, bigdog.......Would you guys rather this? Is this YOUR reality? ::)

Nothing wrong with Sour Lake...Why would a family move from Liberty to Houston to get AWAY from traffic and congestion? Makes about the same amount of sense...Westbrook is a really good school, but the basketball program is suffering...So why HJISD from BISD?....Basketball.
You need to remember that you are using YOUR values and YOUR logic and attempting to suggest that your method is what everybody else uses. Sorry, that won't fly. I moved to Sour Lake long before basketball was a consideration ini order to access the school district and for the benefits of semi-rural living and being on a golf course. Basketball is not the primary reason that people are leaving the city.
So would you pass up 4 restaurants of the exact same quality, to eat at one 25 miles away just because? There is a reason for everything...Not saying that anyone is at FAULT, but you know what it is....Guys didn't just show up at Ozen either for us because of our performing arts program... ::)...Build it and they will come...not mad at you for that... ;)
You call foul, I call fact...You are a Nederland fan, and supposed to feel that your team is the best...That is OK...I know better...They are tied for first place in arguably the WORST 4A district in region 3 this season...If you guys are happy with that, be happy...You cannot dispute that the district is as bad as it has ever been...You guys wanna call 21-3A "top heavy" but the fact is, the top teams in that district are better than any in 20-4A, TODAY....SAD.....Better TEAMS...I did not say MORE TALENTED, or even more athletic....Better TEAMS. Nederland won 29 straight over roughly a 2 and a half year period...great achievement considering where that school usually is in boys basketball...Build on that...However, they are NOT THAT GOOD...and yes, they peaked way too early, as teams sometimes do. Thats no knock on Nederland...its just what it is.
DV-Why don't you go somewhere else and try to demoralize some other people other than District 20-4A? Nobody is forcing you to follow anyone around here. If you don't like the bball you're watching, then drive to Houston and watch better teams. BTW-How relevant has Madison been in bball the last 10 years? Ya, that's what i thought! :o Who cares if YOU think this district is 'down' this year, or the 'weakest'? The same exact thing was said last year about this district, and Ned went to Regionals and Ozen came 2 points from making the trip. Not to mention Central and PNG almost won their 1st round games. It would not surprise me if 20-4A sweeps 19-4A this year in the 1st round. It COULD happen! You need to stop comparing EVERY team to your beloved 2001 Ozen National Champions. That is a once in a life time type of situation. IF you are comparing these teams to that team, then yes, it's a down year. But guess what? Not many team's are going to compete with those Ozen years. All of these kids practice and play hard. Stop trying to bring them down, they are just kids. Just bc Ozen is the 3rd, maybe 4th best team in Beaumont, you have to run out and talk down to people to make yourself feel better. And as far as your comment about you being the same person on the forum that you are in person? Give me a break!
Make ME feel better? WHY? Makes no sense...Who am I talking down to? I am giving my opinion on district 20-4A and where it stands, versus where it SHOULD be...It SHOULD be better, but we all know why its not right now..See you guys like people to get on here and talk about how good Nederland is, and what a great team they have...They are NOT THAT GOOD...Zach English can really play...Weisbrod is going to be really good too...THATS IT...Their head coach is getting them to respectable status and thats all you can ask...You see them play all the time...You know the deal...Title town they are not...What the future holds, no one knows for sure...Give you a break? give ME a break! Nederland is a good team and have proven so this year, but they peaed early, whereas teams like Central and Ozen peaked later on, when it counts. Blame it on coaching or talent or whatever, but Ozen and Central has the advantage here as you WANT momentum going into the playoffs. Nederland NEEDS a big win vs. LC-M and against us to get their confidence back.
I agree with some of your statement, but didn't Ozen just lose to Livingston the other night? I wouldn't call winning one game a lot of momentum?? ??? Bad Dog makes a great point. Nederland is still in 1st place, yet still not considered all that good. Nederland is as good as they were two weeks ago, they just missed opportunities last night. That game could easily have gone in Ned's favor, just like the 1st meeting between these 2 schools could have gone in Ozen's favor. Ozen had something to prove last night, and they did. Let's give credit to Ozen on beating a good team instead of trying to create a false perception. Any given night, a good team can lose a game. Just bc you lose a game or two doesn't mean that you are suddenly not good any more. HJ shot horribly from the FT line a few weeks ago and lost to Silsbee. Silsbee, who is considered a good team, won the game. If Ozen shoots that same FT percentage last night, Nederland wins that game. Perception people, perception. Nederland is still in 1st place. 8)
Yes Nederland is still in 1st place...in an AWFUL district...BUT, they have to line up and play who is on the schedule, and I get that. Crosby is in 1st place in their district too..so is Yates...how does Nederland compare to those district front runners? They don't...Yates beats Nederland by 30+ and you know it...Heck, Ozen too, THESE days!! Look, I am not being a downer on Nederland...I just know what I know....and I know that 20-4A is terrible.
Get a Life! Just like 5-on-5 said: you came on here 3 weeks ago and asked to come back on this board, promising to bring a positive influence. You have done none of that! All you want to do is toot your own horn and praise yourself. And all you have done is demoralize everyone from Vidor, Ozen, Anahuac, PNG, Lumberton, Nederland, HJ, HF, basically everyone. Hey, at least you don't discriminate!
That's just not true. I'm just not a "yes" man...People that KNOW me respect that fact about me...sorry, but thats not how I do it. I feel my influence has been positive and truthful...I will not demoralize anyone...But I will not say yes to make friends on her either...I know what I know...love it or hate it, it matters not...just respect it.

Mr. 5 on 5: I am ENTITLED to my opinion..am not a YES man, or on here an "I agree" all the time to get along man...I have my thoughts on this game and I share them. I am VERY respectful of others on here, and have broken no rules, so yes, you are being sensitive. I feel that it is an issue with you, because people on here KNOW who I really am, I should not say what I say...Anything I say on here, I have NO ISSUE saying it in person, text, facebook, twitter, over the phone, or WHEREVER. Fact is, and I will say it AGAIN...Nederland is just not that good..I have no problem with Nederland, and as a matter of fact am friends with the head coach..I just call it as I see it...If you don't like it, don't read it...just that simple.`
I wasnt at the game Dickie, so I wont tell you what should have happened, but I will just agree to disagree with you about that team. Nederland will be fine and those kids know it will be time to step up. Didnt most people agree Nederland could split these games in district with Ozen and Central? All that changed during the season as people started taking notice of what Nederland had going and they became the story of most Sports sections in the news! Undefeated again after losing so much? You say peaking. I say best efforts by the other teams.. The other team earned the win. Not because the other team was superior in talent.
And thats ok to disagree...I am telling you that Nederland is NOT as talented as Ozen or Central..Thats an obvious fact...The first five is just ok...the bench is JV at best..BUT the X-factor is the head coach, and he has done a terrific job.

Honestly I think its ok..It gives some kids a chance to touch the playoffs that probably never would..It also gives the playoffs a true "NCAA March Madness" feel...Kind of like a #16 seed playing a #1 seed in the first round, or a 2 versus a 15...Any given night, you know? I know I HATED that darn 1st round bye after winning the district, before they added a 4th team! That was TORTURE! 8) -

Having locked in the 4th playoff spot, they don't have that worry going to Nederland. They can go now and play for fun and to upset Nederland. Sounds strange but I think they will play better under those conditions and not trying to stay alive in the playoffs. Nederland will be at home and playing to stay tied for 1st. Putting the playoff conditions to the side, Nederland will have the home court advantage and have more to lose than the Bears.
Yes, Nederland does have more to play for. Central beats PN-G. If Big Ned has another stumble, Central wins district outright. It would be bad for nederland as they back into the playoffs and have to face a good CE King team instead of on of those not so good teams.
Soulja..come on man..Central JV can beat PNG! LCM COULD stun Nederland at home, but I doubt that happens...they are not that good either, but Nederland is definitely better than LCM. If they beat Nederland, it would not surprise me, but once again, I doubt that happens....Coach E will have those kids ready to play.
DickieV, these kids have come out and proven every single person outside of Nederland wrong this year.. The only things said about Nederland were that is was a rebuilding season and there is no way they can win after losing all that talent last year! These guys this year have put in the work and effort to be just as good, and I do believe they went undefeated through the first half of district.. You know what that means? EVERY team is gunning for you! You are going to every team's best! People know who the team to beat is.. I bet Nederland has gotten the best effort Central and Ozen in those past two games because they didnt like the idea of Nederland winning district AGAIN with a chance of going undefeated ;) Congrats to Ozen on a big win! Keep your heads up Dogs! This is now makes these last games huge!
Dawgs, I really hate to say, but these kids did not prove anything...they are who I thought they were...Coach E was able to carry them so far...They peaked, and now reality is setting....they are just not THAT good...Weisbrod is going to be a good prospect and so is Zach English..both are solid players...#40 can hit an open 3 every now and then...thats it...Rogers has flashes of being ok, but you would never know that kid is on the floor at times...The rest of those kids look like JV players...Thats just the truth...and Coach E managed to outcoach the opposition before those kids hit that talent wall...it was inevitable...You guys say, "we missed shots"....well, YEAH! When quicker, more athletic guys are in your mug, that is what USUALLY happens! ::)...Ozen's game plan (sadly enough) actually played into Nederlands hands in the first half! No defensive pressure, that dang handoff crap ( I don't know WHERE he saw that and decided to use it) where there was no movement at all offensively, which made the kids tentative and were not aggresive offensively in the first half...It was exactly what they needed Ozen to do to stay in the game...The second half, which was really no better, the kids just refused to lose to these guys and it showed..They got every rebound, and although they were still walking the ball up the floor (as if they felt trasition baskets counted for negative points or something... ::)) they took care of the ball, and executed ON THEIR OWN...Glad to see those kids step up and will their way to a win, because God knows they had no help from the bench...It was hard to watch, but glad the kids got the W....Sidenote: why did a Nederland dad (which will remain nameless to protect the kid), rush across the court after the game ended and tell the kids "those refs were just racist!"??..... :o :o :o....There was one white ref and two black refs, and they have been around this area for years...I was stunned to say the least.. :o
Dickie- I have one question. Why are things " in reality" now but not 2 ,3,or 4 weeks ago? If Nederland wins the district, will they then be able to say that reality is setting in? If teams are truly more talented, why would they have to "will their way" to victory on their home court?
I say this because I watched those kids being put at a DISADVANTAGE with the chosen strategy, and fight their way through it..They rebounded the ball, they defended, they just fought...WILLED THE WIN...Nederland looked VERY AVERAGE tonight...That had something to do with the Ozen kids, IMO..
