Also, just where will the YMBL tourney for 2012 be held? I was told that the YMBL has a 5 year contract with Lamar starting last year.
The word going around Lamar,is that the university is meeting to discuss future plans on the matter. But i know the montagne has said it is not hosting high school playoff games.
I find that hard to stomach...Do you realize that hosting playoff games is like giving hundreds of kids and possible prospects an unofficiall visit to Lamar?...They had better wise up, IF what you are saying is accurate.

I KNOW LU is not going to pass up on that kind of money being generated so easily!!
I would think the Montagne because Ozen to some would be considered homecourt advantage for Central.
Why would it be considered homecourt? they BOTH played there this season...It would be the best available venue other than Lamar....Lamar State PA could host it too. At this point, you want to just secure a good, neutral venue as soon as possible.
FWIW, I was told by a BISD administrator that he was "protected".
No such thing...Why would HE be protected? Its been said for years, but BISD just hasn't fired coaches for not winning. -
Silsbee only beat WOS by 7 the first time they played in Silsbee!!! ;)
and 30 the next time...right? 8)...Bad teams have great games and vice versa..It happens...but this is not an example of "brains" over athleticism, by any means...WOS is just not very good. JHow bad did you guys beat Orangefield, Lazeek? 30, 40? ???
Not every thread has to become DV and somebody elses arguing grounds. Why do teams always have to be put down when trying to prove your point. Nobody on here said anything about OF being world beaters, but you get on here and dog them. Are they the caliber as Ozen or Wheatly. No and never claimed to be, but 9 men just fought their butts off tonight to play another day. Quit dogging them. Just a proud parent. Sorry.
Not dogging Orangefield...Great win for them...They beat WOS...They fought hard and won. Congrats to them for the win.
West Brook needs to fire their coach but I'm told he is "protected". Besides, who would want to work in a corrupt school district?
No he is not "protected". BISD has never fired a coach for not winning, in any sport, to date. -
Nice try, Dickie. But my statement is correct. HJ validates it many times when it wins against what you describe as more talented teams. You just aren't going to accept it and thats ok with me because I dont view your "pedigree" as the final word. As previously stated, it's a very big basketball world out there and opinions are a dime a dozen. aka: my previous Charles Barkley example.
Nash, if WOS had ANY real amount of talent, (or athleticism) they would have beaten this team just as bad as your beloved Hawks did...Or as bad as Silsbee did, or worse...WOS is not that good either. It was a battle of two BAD teams....I will be willing to put Yates, Wheatley, Ozen or Central JV against Orangefield varsity and they would win or split in 2 games with them...come on now, you know better than that.. ::)
Congrats to Orangefield and many thanks for proving that there is more to high school basketball success than athleticism/talent.
Yeah it just proves that WOS is not that talented either.... ::)
No player on Ned's JV will see significant time, at the varsity level, next year. However, they split with a team that has several player's that could be starters on a lot of the varsity teams in the area. I don't know what this says about either team. This basketball stuff is sooooooooooo confusing. Can you please explain any of this to me Dick? :o :o
Why, certainly....it IS quite simple...In many good programs, The JV team is sometimes considered a dumping ground. You cannot always take a look at some JV teams and predict doom or success in the coming years varsity programs. Sometimes the better 9th graders will "leapfrog" the JV kids and never play one day of JV ball...Some instances, particularly when you have juniors on JV, it is likely that they may not see the floor to play on the varsity. Also what plays a factor is the fact that in some programs, the JV coach is not REALLY a basketball guy...Meaning he may be a football coach, hired to coach JV basketball and gladly accepts it for the extra pay of coaching a second sport. This is Texas, it happens. Ozen's JV probably had no business losing to Nederland, but on that level, WHO KNOWS what the reason was. I coached the JV at Ozen for two seasons and did not lose a game, either season...YET, only about HALF of those kids played varsity ball, and about 1/4 of THAT half saw any significant playing time on the varsity over the next year or two...so, go figure.

Yes it is...I think he just failed to account or plan for the NBA exodus that he experienced...
