I had them as a preseason favorite in the district. I was scoffed at by some.

Kirbyville at Orangefield Predictions
Tiger90 replied to Bobcatfan4life's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
It is funny how you come back here talking noise once again after that beating you guys took Friday night. It was hilarious as well watching Dan Hooks even commenting on how much smack was being told only to not show it on the field. Most folks around here have nothing against K'ville, but it is the noise that turns folks off to your school. This week should be a good game. OF has something to play for now. They hung with Silsbee, they beat Jasper, and now they know they are capable of beating anyone. They play with heart........not their mouths. -
Rankings should shake up.

WOS must read the board. I noticed Hooks and an interviewed player making comments about smack talk and getting it done on the field. -

Silsbee-28 BC-10 Final/Post Game Comments
Tiger90 replied to JoesBros2's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Not to take anything away from BC but the score really didn't indicate how Silsbee dominated this game. Once again the fumble fairy was out in full force this evening. Silsbee would march up and down the field and then have a turnover. BC's only real offensive yardage came on a trick flee-flicker in the 2nd quarter and one drive in the 4th quarter. Unfortunately from our perspective in the stands it looked like BC had a M.A.S.H. unit on their sideline by the end of the game. Those kids were tired and still getting pounded. I hope no one was seriously injured. I don't know if Dishon was even on the field in the second half. -

If OF can come with the same enthusiasm as last week they have a good chance. It is hard however to keep the same intensity after such an emotional game. For those not there, OF played their hearts out.

At the PNG game the announcer didn't completely turn off the speaker when he wasn't talking. He was making comments like "we need to hurt that guy" etc. in reference to the Silsbee squad. If you were near the speaker you would hear the conversation. In terms of turf I wonder what the cost of maintenance is versus grass over a 5 year period.

High Schooler Blows Away Rushing Record McCoy Scored 10 Touchdowns Friday Night AP Sports DELBARTON, W.Va. (Sept. 30) - Paul McCoy rushed for an apparent national high school-record 658 yards and scored 10 touchdowns Friday. McCoy, who had 29 carries in Matewan's 64-0 win over Burch, ran for 477 yards just on his touchdown runs, which covered 69, 1, 52, 56, 52, 20, 31, 84, 87 and 25 yards. He also had a 77-yard TD run called back by penalty. The National Federation of State High School Associations lists the national record as 619 yards, set by Ronney Jenkins of Oxnard, Calif., in 1995. McCoy's yardage will have to be verified before it becomes official. McCoy's 10 touchdowns would tie him with two others for the second most nationally. The record is 12 set by Ken Pearson of Hugo, Colo., in 1930. McCoy, who is averaging 364 yards per game, has 1,820 rushing yards and 26 touchdowns this season.

I am just wondering what the BMT supt. is saying on those weekend "phone visits" to the Ozen coaches. Make no mistake he wants Ozen to be the top school athletically in Beaumont. I have worked with former Ozen coaches who dreaded the weekend calls. I remember when that rinky dink club in East Texas called Newton put it to Ozen......
-
With the exception of possibly an injury (must be bad since they just had a bye week) there is absolutely no excuses Ozen can use. Kids should keep their grades up and the coaching staff needs to monitor the situation better if this is a problem. Ozen has defintely underperformed thus far this season. PNG is playing well. I'm glad to see my Tigers put up a better fight.

Silsbee 35 Orangefield 27 Final/Post Game Comments
Tiger90 replied to a topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Gotta give OF some props. They played hard and hung with the Tigers. Ironic how OF got the fumble recovery with Silsbee knocking on the door and returned it for a td to start the game only to turn it over deep in Silsbee territory to basically end the game. OF was tackling well. Silsbee was overlooking OF and made way too many mistakes. You definitely can not go into another team's stadium during their homecoming and expect to have a win just given to you. Good game. -

Good overall analysis Bobkat. The one thing I think OF needs to prepare for is the 1-2 punch of the runningbacks. Friday's game had the team riding on the qb's back with one of the starting rbs on the sideline most of the night. I do not know if he was hurt or what. At any rate when those two rbs are going and the qb starts the option it is hard to stop. I would think this game will be won at the o-line. If Silsbee is able to blow OF off of the line OF will be in for a long night if McCarter is running the ball. Anyway I hope for a good game.

K'ville lucked out and beat Jasper 2 years ago. The fans who posted on the Down Low board talked so much smack it was pitiful. The arrogance got slapped in Silsbee a few weeks later. Last season once again Silsbee beat you boys. If you were not impressed by the Tigers then you really shouldn't be impressed with your squad. Most folks do not have anything against the school or the community, it is the posters who let their mouths run without the ability to back it up that is grating.
-
How big are the OF lines? If Silsbee's oline is able to control the line, OF is in for a very long night with Silsbee's speedy rbs.

AP Rankings For Sept. 18th..Newton #1

Granted it was a good solid win for Silsbee but definitely no room for gloating/bragging etc.. Good luck to Newton, they will do very well once again.
