  1. I imagine it is a mudhole in SourLake tonight. That field holds the water.

  3. That game is over with. Emotions were high and you played good, let's forget about this issue and focus on HJ.
  4. Grades would have hit well before last week. The 6 weeks ends in another week. Could it have been the poor field condition and the decision to just have 1 game?
  5. There is only 1 team higher than Lumberton that Lumberton has beaten and it is so close it is negligible. I would be curious as to who you feel is rated too high. Although these are not my submited rankings they were close to my picks. I didn't think my back was to the wall when I voted. At any rate it is a discussion board so discuss. Official SETXSport Rankings 1. WOS- definitely one of the area's best, cream of the crop IMO 2. WB- only loss to a talented Spring Westfield 3. Dayton- only loss is to WOS and has destroyed everyone else 4. Central- extremely talented but did have a questionable loss to Houston Sterling a team Silsbee killed. 5. Barbers Hill- undefeated enough said 6. Silsbee- came within 8 yards of sending WOS into O/T 7. Newton- very tough and state ranked team 8. EC- taking care of business in 2A 9. K'ville- only losses to WOS and state ranked Carthage 10. LCM- pounded a solid PNG team 11. Nederland- may have questionable record but beat PNG 12. BC- may be a tad high but has had some good games 13. Memorial- talented team that has yet to put in a total performance but still doing what it takes to win 14. PNG- had a couple teams sneak up and bite them but beat Lumberton 15. Lumberton- has enjoyed some successes this season but has only beat 1 team ranked ahead of them
  6. I just read through this whole thread and there are some mixed up folks on both sides. It was a great game that came down to the 4th quarter. It is ridiculous to say WOS was merely having a "bad night etc" and Silsbee was just having their "best night". WOS was having that "bad" night based on what Silsbee was doing to them. Silsbee forced some turnovers and pt some good licks on a few folks. Both teams took advantage of each other's mistakes. The refs did make bad calls but they were on both sides. WOS is extremely fast and well coached. In order to run with them you keep their offense off of the field. Silsbee's offense did that most of the night. To stop Silsbee you stop the dive option and WOS did that when it counted the most, with 2 minutes remaining. To put this in perspective Silsbee was at WOS's 8 yard line with 2 minutes to go. Unfortunately for us Tiger fans WOS got the int. and ended the drive. It would have been great to go into O/T but it didn't happen. In the end I left the game pleased with what our kids accomplished. Nobody absolutely nobody (with the exception of a few homers) gave Silsbee any chance. I read all week how this was going to be a huge blow out. It didn't happen. If anything this game should put to the rest how "overrated" Silsbee is. There may be 3 other teams in this area who can play WOS this close and none are in 3A.

  8. Obviously you are not too astute to understand the post. Kirbyville was actually praised for being a perceived "weak or watered down" 3rd place team only to run over some champions from other districts. They actually deserved to make the playoffs therefore the 3 playoff spots was beneficial to them. I do not understand how that is a critique of the k'ville fb program. All that does is show how a 3 team playoff picture can be a good thing. At any rate losing to a powerhouse Palestine over the past 2 season is hardly anything to hang our head in shame about. It was a very good game last year. I see no need to bash Lumberton or bring their playoff record into the light because obviously you already have.
  9. Guys.....do we really need to be questioning any coach's position especially on a message board? Some years are high but you have to expect some bad as well. It is ridiculous to be questioning some of these coaches with the resumes that they have.
  10. So the 3A district is watering down the playoffs by having 3 teams go? Look at the teams in that district. In other areas of the state several of these teams would be district champs. I would think you need 3 teams to go in most lower classification districts especially with the wide gaps in enrollment. You can't expect a small 3A school, say 420 kids, to be as competetive with a 3A school that is at the 900 mark on a consistent basis. By eliminating the 3rd playoff spot what are we actually accomplishing? If those 3rd place teams are "weak" then obviously after round 1 they are eliminated right? Ask Kirbyville how they felt getting eliminated early the past 2 seasons how it felt.....oh wait they made 3 rounds. That throws the "weak" argument out the window. Playoffs add excitement to the schools and helps the program plus the community is involved.
  11. I definitely feel WOS has the advantage, but this statement was ridiculous. A controlled 3 quarter scrimmage in August means nothing in mid October.
  12. Let's be real here.....we're dealing with kids. Kids make mistakes on occassion. Here we are going into week 7 with 2 teams battling for the district lead. Whether they have mistakes in past games or not they have a grand total of 1 loss between the 2 teams. That says a lot about the talent of the kids and coaching abilities on both sides. There is one Beaumont school with probably more talent than both of these squads whose season is now a wash. We can argue schemes or whatever else but no one can deny the fact that both of these schools have had success. There have been numerous play calls over the years...not just this one... where I have scratched my head, but I am not the coach nor have I ever been to school to learn coaching. I personally would have loved to see more I-back packages this season, but I can not argue the fact that Silsbee is winning. I would bet there has been at least one play call from the coaches at WOS that has left a few fans raising their eyebrows as well. It is the natural of the beast for being a fan.
  13. I would think after this week that would be an acceptable prediction. I just want a good game.
  14. McCarter is definitely a speed guy but Elam is the straight up style runner. He has a style similar to Dickerson. How was the passing tonight?
  15. I have them every week as the #1 team in the area. Once again WOS will be my #1 when I submit this week.
  16. Not to cut down LCM, but Ozen should have scored. It is ridiculous to have that much talent and not be able to at least score. That is pathetic.
  17. To be honest I'd prefer WOS be predicted by a large margin. If Silsbee loses they were predicted to do so, but if WOS comes in too confident then it could be close.
  18. Did they give McCarter the ball much? The past couple games after he fumbles it seems they do not call his number anymore. That Elam kid has looked good in the backfield.
  19. Knowing that I hope you guys have some compassion.
  20. A fan who mistakenly assumed a blow out was on the horizon as well as according to our own weather man a week of rain. Hey man I got to get my fill of carnie food as well. By the way I want to meet someone who tries the fried coke. I'm adventurous but not that adventurous.
  21. That has been the only consistent for the team this year......turnover after turnover. I will confess I did not go tonight (fair), but the option handoff has been a severe problem all season. It is pulled out too late. You have to be committed one way or the other. If Silsbee was running a basic I formation behind that line it could be deadly, but hey, I'm not paid to be the coach and make those decisions. When the veer is executed well it is an effective offense, but the by product is fumbles. I just hope we do not have WOS having to have a running clock in the second half next week to keep the score down.
