Best coach is easily Sutherland.  He has done it at several stops.  He gets the most out of his kids.

Isnt this the original sausage on a stick from the old fair grounds?  They were located on the end near the small animal covers right before you walked into the pavilions.  Sausage on a stick with the old rolls on top.  Miss the old fair days.

The location was pre approved by all 4 teams going into this week.  It was pretty much a midpoint from Giddings and everyone east.  Lamar charges a high fee as well.  As mentioned it also keeps some of the local nonsense away.  Should be a good game.  The district proved to be tougher than most thought earlier this season.

Barring any last minute changes and unforeseen upsets it should be Dayton.

Depending on opponent......Dayton or Splendora next Friday.

Either the wrs were running poor routes or the q.b. was extremely inaccurate.  It looked both.

I like to hear Comey's explanation  of not acting if he indeed didn't know they were married.  Over 300000 emails from a former Secretary of State on a "pedophile's (whom you "didn't" know) computer and it didn't immediately trigger as action? Seriously?

 

The offense is questionable.  There isn't a generational player to hide the issues and save it this year.  Wr routes were missed.  Ol needs work.  Qb has a good ball but looks more of a pocket passer vs dual.    Hard to get many passes out when defenders were in his face so quickly.  Scheme needs adjusting to fit personnel.  Lots of work to do.  Kicking (fg) game is a highlight for once in a long time.

Absolutely ridiculous.  Extracurricular is not a right its a privilege and the school should not be forced to allow participation.  Chapter 37 of education says a student shall be removed and placed in a disciplinary setting if the superintendent or designee has reasonable belief the student committed a felony in Title V of the penal code whether on campus or not.  

This ruling has the potential to be a landmark type ruling.

A non enrolled student can not attend a class at school.  You are in the school or you are not.  I would hope most area schools do not even allow non enrolled school aged folks to be on the campus during school hours.   If they do then they are opening themselves up for issues.

Others issues are attendance based funding, liabilities, accountability,etc.  If the state ever allowed this I cant imagine it ever being anything more than afterschool "club" participation.  How long would it be until folks wanted transportation to and from?  Where would it end?  If you've made the decision to keep your child out of the educational aspects and opportunities of the district you've also made the decision to forfeit the privilege to participate in the non educational extra curricular activities.  Schools are not Burger King......you do not always get things your way.

What is the offense going to be in the future?  I've been told they are leaning to Slot/wing T and a few parents are upset.  Some possibly wanting to transfer.

Silsbee kids played hard but it was evident a lot of those turnovers were just sloppy play by WOS.  It was good to see some fire.   Silsbee offense is nonexisistent.  Sad really to go from breaking records to this.  

The kids need to just keep working.

If Livingston did indeed intentionally try to manipulate the numbers (as I've been told) there should repercussions.  Not only have they help create scheduling nightmares for some schools they will cost those who did right thou$and$ in tickets, concessions, etc if they can not find another opponent.  Pathetic.

Doesn't BISD pay retirees a percentage of their accrued sick days when they retire? If so how big of a check is the district fixing to have to cut? Is Lambert fixing to get another check?

City Hall and a district office are two totally separate entities. There are no oversights between the two.

Since some like to speculate what if an individual was to have recieved their outrageously high salary totally above board on the (undocumented)condition a few "kickbacks" were to come to those who insured/granted that high salary? Knowing how the state retirement works, that individual's retirement would be based on the average of their 3 highest years forever upon retirement. For example if an individual had 33 years at retirement they would be entitled to approximately 75% of the average of their top 3 years salary under the state's formula. Do the math.......It may not be a sprint but rather a totally above board marathon with those who hosted the event having dirty hands.

In the beginning it seemed like he was merely the fall guy. I felt bad for him but that quickly changed. With everything blowing up he had the opportunity to distance himself from the past but instead he has appeared to embrace/defend it. He could have came in and sent some of those like Lambert and Haynes packing. That TEA response "press conference" was a sham. The hiring of the football coach was poor decision making as is continuing to pay the old coach. There is really only two ways to view him: as part of the old regime who has tried to continue the corruption or as an inept idiot who has no decision making skills.

Coaches are hired to coach and teach students in high school. Several do create relationships with college coaches and that does help some kids with scholarships. In the end whether a student gets a scholarship or not shouldn't be placed at a high coach's feet. Football is a team sport not an individual sport. The best rise to the top and recruiters take notice. What some may see as a school's best player or district MVP may be average in the grand scheme of the recruiting landscape.

Much ado about nothing anyone should be concerned with.  It's cleared with the Uil.  This is nothing more than what some others in district including HJ and WOS have dealt with in the past. 

Time to look forward to the season.
