1. Darion Gray is even smaller than i thought. The kid can't be covered though. I can see why Sterling is having trouble winning games though. They have size and speed issues for a 5a school, throw in their low enrollment and the district they play in and it's probably not fixable.
 2. Sterling may have more fans here than a district game. ;)
 3. I don't know what PNG or GCM are going to bring but there's going to be some serious talent on display if everybody plays. I don't think we'll win but I think the kid that's supposed to be the next big thing in Crosby, Tristan Cotton is going to get some quarterback action. Kincaid has a 6-3, 205lb junior to be quarterback who already got an in house visit from Michigan State. Huffman has a kid I think will be a steal for whatever FBS offer he gets named Darion Gray who might be more shifty than Austin Walter and is a straight line blur. Galena Park is my dark horse to win. They have three receiver who are in that 5-10 to 6' range that can flat out fly. Should be a couple of recruiters there too, hopefully nobody gets hurt.

At least this way, he is freeing up that spot on the team for someone who really wants it and hopefully will take advantage of it.  But good luck to Da Bull and the rest of his posse.
AthleticSupporter said: "Making rap videos, smoking weed and chasing girls all night can be a heavy load to carry along with 15 hours of college, or so I've heard."  ::)
trust me, 12 hours of school, 20 hours of practice and about 10-15 more hours of your own time is a lot more tedious than spending some time in the studio or having a production meeting. That's why a good portion of athletes don't graduate and half of the ones that do majored in health or kinesiology. I know this might be a shock for you but I would be willing to bet half or more of the kids on football teams smoke regular or synthetic weed, see Auburn, TCU, and Oregon. It was probably about 60% or more whever I was in school and know for a fact the numbers haven't moved that much. l Know players smoked because it didn't have side effects like alcohol does and nobody chases girls like a testosterone filled football player.
First of all the parent has to be honest with themselves which is the majority of the problem with these issues. I have my three sons and two nephews I'm involved with. The oldest is 12 and will be entering middle school and only plays football and basketball. I'll tell you right now he's not a basketball player even though he's going to end up well over 6'. I make sure I clarify that to him also, not in a demeaning way but one in which he comprehends where he stands among other kids his age. My son will tell anybody who asks he's going to play football for LSU or UT and as he's gotten older he's just started to do things to show that. I constantly have to reprimand him for messing with the weights in the garage without  my supervision among other things. All that to say he knows football is his best opportunity to play sports beyond high school. My middle son and oldest nephew on the other hand are the kids that everything they touch they seem to be the best or very near the top at. My nephew's dad was once in the Jamaica national youth soccer program and my sister is 5'11" so to limit or "specialize" him in a certain sport before seeing which one he naturally gravitates to and will voluntarily work harder at is "pushing it" from a parenting perspective IMO. My issue is some parents can't see when their kid "may not have it" yet tell their kids if you work harder than the others "you'll be better and should play" thus creating a disgruntled teammate in the locker room. Good motivation but it really only goes so far. 10-12 is the evaluation period to see what kids are more natural or should "specialize" in IMO.
So Cougar14, are you saying that 12 is an OK age to start specializing in one sport?  Most 12 yr old boys haven't even started to really mature at that point.  That's young.
I think so. My son kind of specialized his self. He'd rather go to football camps instead of play summer basketball now. You don't make him stop playing other sports because he's specializing in football but at 12 football starts to take precedence over other sports. Size isn't a determining factor for my boys so 12 is a good evaluation period for ME, if you have late bloomers you might have to wait longer. I think my boy could start to get his first camp invites his sophomore year so the earlier I can get him oiled up the better.
if your son is 12 im assuming he is in the 6th or 7th grade. You dont think its a little early to be saying he should be getting ask to invite camps when he is a sophmore.
Not at all. When i was in school we would have 7 on 7 tournaments with a little pre-combine type thing before it. Now you have numerous stand-alone combines so the 7 on 7 tournaments are football only most of the time now. 12 is not a good time to evaluate if you have late bloomers. Some kids have late growth spurts so it would be good to wait until their in high school. All my kids are big already though so I don't have that issue. I'm not one of those parents who hopes his kid will be good enough, my 6th grader is almost 6' tall and weighs nearly 160 lbs. I'm 6' and my dad is 6'3'' while my mom and wife are both about in the 5'9''-5'10'' range so I don't think he's maxed out. He wears a size 11 and his hands are already bigger than mine. Every football playing male in my family who graduated since 1976 has gotten a scholarship.  I want him to play receiver in Crosby's offense but he wants to play qb so we practice both. If anything i'm making him  practice receiver in case there's a kid who can beat him beat him out at qb. I don't make him only play football that's what he likes to do. My middle son is 7 and the most fierce competitor, to the point that I caught him gambling away his allowance to his big brother running 40 dashes they had marked off in the street. He only lost by a step and a half by the way when he was 6 and my oldest was 11. Last summer during the olympics a guy did the iron cross on the rings and he said that was nothing. He jumped up and scaled the archway and let goand my mouth fell open. When he was 3 he scaled the door jam barehanded and did pullups on his fingertips. Last year we were in the yard and I told him i could do a backflip 'cause he was scared to try so I did one. 15 minutes later while I was deciding if i should go to the local urgent care he came in and got me. Not only could he do it, but he could do it with no hands and do a bunch in a row with hands.  He weighs a little over 60lbs and can pick up the 45lb plates ihead high to put them on the bar, he also wins every event at their little field day. He knows once he gets to middle school daddy isn't going to still be running him all over the creation to do things like take private soccer lessons. 12 is the perfect age for me and mine because i don't belive in a kid playing sports to get a participation ribbon. You have the most fun when you win so that's how we work. I expect my oldest son to continue to be a prototype so predicting him getting camp invites as a sophomore isn't crazy at all, matter of fact most of the upper level kids attend camps as sophs. *If anybody doesn't believe me with my 7 year old I can send the videos to bronco to put up. i have the video of the race i mentioned and him doing the iron cross in the archway at 6 years old.
I said the pro leagues because it often doesn't work out there when you leave early either and trust me, the majority of those guys aren't going back to school either. You also made another point I was going to say in that he might just not like football that much. Not everybody that is good at it loves the game. What do you take advantage of, a chance to get a degree in a field you might never work in or a chance at having 6 figures in your bank account by the end of the year and becoming a tax paying member of society?I have a bachelor's degree in economics and football is partly why so I believe in taking advantage of your opportunities but like I was saying earlier, "a bird in the hand is better than two in the bush".

Is a district competitive when it has a lot of strong teams or when most teams are close in strength? The first scenario best defines 19-4a and the second best defines 20-4a. However when you look at it from the perspective of a consistently strong team like Ned, 20-4a looks less competitive. However, if you look at dayton in 19-4a, which likewise is consistently strong, the situation is ironically competitive from their perspective. This is because they have a few teams frequently in their district (BH, crosby) that are close to their level of ability. In conclusion, I find dayton's playoff streak very impressive. Although 20-4a usually has a pretty solid PNG squad and these past 2 years an inspiring Vidor team, I would argue that Ned does not have to struggle as much as the better teams in 19-4a do to make the playoffs.
I disagree, 20-4a usually has at least 5 teams that are in close competition for 4 spots, with the last spot usually coming down to head-to head or a 3 way tie breaker.  19-4a was pretty much set , with 5th place 3 games out.  Ned has struggled plenty, including the couple of years of widespread injuries to key players and still made the playoffs.  As far as strong teams, most of the time it is a 2-2 split with 19 in bi-district with a few 3-1 one way or the other.
Why do you say 5th place three games out? KP finished 5th and was 6-4 one game behind Barbers Hill. King didn't lose to a team all last year that finished with less than 6 wins and they finished in 6th place 2 games out. Humble is the one that finished three games behind BH in 7th place. So 6 teams competing for one potential spot isn't harder than 5 competing for 4? KP and King would have most likely made the playoffs last year in 20-4A.

 13. I think having NF leave the district and go 11-1 the next year says a lot for 19-4A. GCM made the playoffs in a district with Texas City, Dawson, and Friendswood which is no small feat in itself for our former district member. Galena Park has almost 2k kids and is usually a tough out no matter what their record. This year of the teams that didn't make the playoffs Humble is a former 5A program that would probably have a state title had it not been for Katy and still has some good looking athletes over there. King has 1700+ kids and are physical as they come most years. Kingwood Park has over 1650 kids and is basically Barbers Hill with more melanin. It's brutal on this side of the river. :'(

I did read that from A&M posters so make of it what you may but he's probably close to an A&M offer.
I don't think that's a soft verbal for Raelon, I believe if Sharp don't commit to Baylor this weekend, he will commit to Utah....Ofcourse this is hear say
Raelon is rated as one of the top 20 receivers in the state. The only reason I think he went ahead and committed was because Brian Johnson is the OC now. Brian is from Crosby and grew up around the corner from me in Section 10 so he has some pull over here, plus he's only 26 I think so he relates well. Much like Feuerbacher all him committing will do is go ahead and make the other teams who had you on their "next best" list go ahead and offer which is why I think Jordan will get the A&M offer. Teams don't stop offering scholarships when you commit. Raelon might start as a true freshman and get 500 career targets if he does sign with Utah so there's major upside there but its cold, you play in the high altitude(which you would eventually adjust to), and Utah is getting hammered in the Pac-12 right now. Raelon has 8 FBS offers right now but of those Utah is the only school that plays in a BCS conference so he's playing against USC, Oregon, Stanford, and UCLA instead of Memphis, Southern Miss., East Carolina and Central Florida. True the BCS goes away after this year but IMO that's going to be worse for those schools not in the Pac-12, Big 12, Big 10, SEC and ACC. I just think if he gets a good Big 12 or maybe even an SEC West offer he could decommit. Now that he's committed he probably won't do much camp work so he's free to play basketball which is actually his sport of choice and probably aided his decision. IJS, if he goes out and puts up 12 or 1300 yards which he is very capable of in our offense I doubt he goes to Utah.
I read an article from Rivals where Raelon say he's solid. He said he will not visit any more schools, and he also said Utah showing the most interest......but we will see....do you think the twins will stay at Rice?
Well, he's sure not going to commit and say "Nah, I might decommit.". Not taking anymore visits mean no more unofficials. He still has 5 official visits to take next year which a lot of recruits just do to fly around the country. He's never even seen the campus, he might change his mind when he touches down  for his visit in Salt Lake City in late December and it's 7 degrees. I think that's the third Utah offer for a Crosby kid since Chance Casey and the first commit. Another twin, Armanti Foreman, recently decommitted from OU after being a long time commit once he got a UT offer and will probably commit there. A lot can happen in a year. I think the twins are hard commits to Rice though. They're in the top of their class so education is important and it seems like they want to play where their family can still see them relatively easily, all things Rice provides. I also think they both have an opportunity for early playing time. Not to mention once Driphus Jackson gets under center I think Rice is playing for a C-USA title. The zone read between him and Austin with Aston in the slot could set the conference on fire.

 17. Austin also weighed 176 lbs at the Nike camp so he's about 30 lbs heavier than his freshman year and will probably be over 180 when the season starts so he's not small anymore. Sproles played at about 185 at K-State, led the nation in rushing and won the Doak Walker. If Austin can get to Jaquizz Rodgers' size in college I think he could even get a few Sunday looks. The speed thing is a non-factor too, he'll run in the 4.4 range at close to 200 lbs in a few years. The twins work like animals in the field house.
 18.
Three main factors: 1. Strong consistent coaching (That is the same as saying money, which is tax based) 2. Enrollment (more to choose from) 3. Athletic ability - "White Men Can't Jump" ..... Not my line fellas....... 4. Strong parenting - There are good and bad ones, all starts here # 1 is why Central and Ozen have had little success.
Maybe I would move 4 to 1 but otherwise I totally agree with the order. 3 can cover up for one like  NF last year and 1 can cover for 3 like BH most years. 3 definitely isn't the problem at Ozen and Central but has PNG benefited from playing in a low enrollment district?
 19.
Well you have to first define "Competitive".
Just to add to that, I think enrollment should be brought into account. Central is the only big school in the district over there. 19-4a is rotating former 5a Humble who has very good athletes, King and Kingwood Park who are both over 1650, GCM and Galena Park who are both over 1850 and now 2k enrollment SC yet three spots are usually taken before the season starts.
 20. Raelon Singleton, (WR) Crosby, committed to the University of Utah yesterday. I would consider that a soft verbal though. Jordan Feuerbacher, (TE) K. Park, got an in-house visit from Jeff Banks of the Texas A&M coaching staff. No offer yet but the A&M boards say he wants to really be an Aggie and I think his parents are alumni. I did read that from A&M posters so make of it what you may but he's probably close to an A&M offer.
 21. What is your bi-district matchup and why is it harder to make the playoffs in your district? Everyone included but 19-204A particularly. I was just thinking about the playoff teams in our district and why they always seem to pretty much be the same no matter the district changes. In the current alignments it's usually Crosby, Dayton and BH with someone else thrown in there yet they're usually in the lower half of the district enrollment wise. It kind of threw me off because I was thinking about the individual talent at Ozen and Central and that they should be perennial playoff teams but was surprised to see that they weren't. Then I looked and saw that 20-4A has usually been wide open over the past 6-8 years. Does this mean a district is tougher because the programs are more equal, or tougher if you have to be one of 5 or 6 programs to get a shot most years?

And also I hope Sharp isn't mad because Baylor offered after he won state every offer the kid gets from here on out will be after he won state. The kid only has 4-6 offers so it wouldnt be smart to be to nit-picky obviously he's a great ball player and athlete but looking at Briles track record with QBs he won't lose sleep if the kid doesn't jump on the offer, he'll just find another QB to put up insane #'s. Briles has Baylor as a top 25 team. If Sharp went there Briles would put him in the NFL
That's pretty much what I'm saying, Sharp has some mechanical issues which is why with those types of numbers he doesn't have more offers IMO. The production he could potentially have at Baylor along with his good agility numbers would force teams to give him a look. Remember, RG3 was going to UH until Briles got the job in Waco. Much like JF, RG3 wanted to go to Texas but he was going to have to play db. Sometime you might have to swallow your pride a little.
If Sharp has mechanical issues, why is the "great QB" guy Briles is coming after him? Maybe it's to play another position. And if Sharp is gonna move to another position, at 6'3 and athletic, I would go to a big time school and play WR, safety, etc....maybe somewhere like Utah
Sharp ain't switching positions, you don't have to worry about that. I'll say this, he's better than Brian Johnson and Brian started 4 years at Utah. Sharp's issue at Baylor is that he might not get off the bench if Briles gets a big time recruit but you can't think that way. Most young qbs have mechanical issues, there are very few Luck and Stafford's so instead they'll take the great athlete with good production and try to polish his skill set. The thing I see mostly with him is that awkward release and he looks like he's only about 175 at almost 6'3''. His arm strength will also be tested when the windows start to close on the next level. All things that can be corrected with work but the leash might not be that long in Waco. He can escape pressure and he doesn't turn the ball over, that's why I think Baylor offered him. The 200 title was just a plus.

 24.
"Yeah, and there's an African in the woods who can beat Usain Bolt." Actually, it may be a japanese teen. "Yoshihide Kiryu, a 17-year-old Japanese runner is making headlines for his lightning fast sprints that someday could beat Bolt’s record. In a startling performance that left everyone in his dust, Kiryu ran 100 meters in only 10.01 seconds at the Mikio Oda Memorial in Hiroshima, Japan. That run tied the junior world record on April 29. He clocked his record-breaking time in a qualifiers run, and then won the final in 10.03 seconds, besting 20-year-old Olympian Ryota Yamagata by only one-hundredth of a second. Usain Bolt's 100-meter world record is 9.58 seconds set in 2009." And Africa is not known for sprinters, but for long distance runners. Your stereotypes are weak, and ill informed.
I'm very well aware Africans are more known for distance running. Inten is the home to more world class marathoners than any place on the planet. Bolt is Jamaican which are probably per capita the best sprinters in the world but I used African for a certain reason, not an ill-informed reason. Africans had a history of being fast long before any other people in modern history. They didn't stop in Montego Bay to help get the boys in Sierra Leone if you know what I'm saying.

It is not known yet if they will be zoned to Humble ISD. If they are zoned to HISD, the planned 6th new high school in HISD will be built sooner than later. The 4,000-acre wooded site off the northeastern elbow of Beltway 8, has sold the first major tract in Generation Park to FMC Technologies, makers of subsea, wellhead and other equipment for the oil and gas industry. FMC Technologies purchased 173 acres on the west side of Beltway 8 and is assessing its plans for the site.
You think they would zone them to Aldine ISD? Westfield already has nearly 4000. They'll probably use the Beltway for the cut off like they do between North Shore and Channelview.
The Generation Park development is no where near Aldine. It will be closer to Sheldon ISD, just south of Lake Houston. The Apartment complexes will be on the north side of Beltway 8, next to Summerwood subdivision, so it may fall in the Humble School District.
South of Lake Houston was the old district but do they still have all of that because now Liberty Lakes south of 90 and the developments to the west are Sheldon ISD too now.
