Everyone keeps saying that”all these people wanted T gone, like bunching the whole community into that…the people who signed the petition are not on here complaining! At least that I know of…I didn’t sign it because I know him pretty dang good and know what the whole situation was about and it was all over 1 kid who got kicked off the team for the 3rd time.Part of it is on coach T though for letting him back the first time,I’ve seen several kicked off and never got a chance again

So you're saying this program is in shambles over 1 kid... That was kicked off the team?!? That's even worse lol!!!

  2. This is kinda of funny. All these people wanted coach T out and wanted a "certain type"of head coach because some people felt that CT was racist. Now that the program has got completely belly up, now everyone has a problem. You get what your ask for.

When are people going to learn that you take advantage of what is given to you. You don't like him... So what!!! Use his knowledge to get that scholarship to the next level and quit being in your feelings. Now WOS is pretty much a shell of itself because everyone wants it to "feel good".

Hum that is interesting to know. Back when I went to WOS it was said that our district would give money to other schools. I'm not sure how true that is, maybe someone else may know better than me. The community is tired of not being heard, and are voting school board members out slowly. Eventually, changes are going to be made, when TEA rolls out their new ratings.

Yes it is true. Our old books would go to LCM. WOS had money to burn due to the chemical plants in the area. We had experimental equipment, embroidered towels with a belt loop...none of that tear a towel and make your own crap. We wore black shoes and lost games and they shelved the shoes and never brought them back. Of course this was during WOS hay day of making money and a thriving economy for Orange. I recently visited Orange and almost didn't recognized the place...really sad.

Whatever site these simulations are from is interesting and all......but 2022 North Shore would beat any WOS team by 100 if they wanted to.

That is a great "opinion" which is all that is. At least Calpreps is usually over 70% right. So I will go with that over your "opinion". And yes WOS would lose, no one is saying they wouldn't.

  5. You asked...here's 2017 Newton vs 2022 teams

    [2022] Aledo (TX) 41 (88%), [2017] Newton (TX) 21 (12%)

  6. Geez...it was just for fun...everyone calm down! This thread has NOTHING to do with PNG. I hope they win state...would be good for the area! I live in San Antonio so NO ONE here is talking about WOS or even know they exist...so pump the brakes on that. And if you actually went down the list...there were quite a few losses predicted.

  7. After having an argument about past teams....how does Calpreps have WOS chances with that 2016 defensive team vs 2022 state finalist teams?

Just for entertainment...some of these predicted outcomes are interesting

    [2016] West Orange-Stark (Orange, TX) 28 (73%), [2022] Argyle (TX) 19 (27%)

    [2016] West Orange-Stark (Orange, TX) 26 (61%), [2022] Port Neches-Groves (Port Neches, TX) 21 (39%)

    [2022] Carthage (TX) 31 (74%), [2016] West Orange-Stark (Orange, TX) 21 (26%)

    [2022] DeSoto (TX) 42 (90%), [2016] West Orange-Stark (Orange, TX) 21 (10%)

I have said from word go Hickman was placed in a no win situation.  If WOS went udefeated this season, it would have been “ anyone could win with what has been built here”. We see whats happening with a poor record. Then you throw in the race factor and how some were pushing for a first Coach….he hasnt had a chance from the start.

What are you talking about LOL?? YES...YES...He should be dang near undefeated bringing 8 back on each side of the ball from a team that ran DEEP into the playoffs last year and lost to the state champ. And then this year you can't even line up right??? Yeah give the coach a chance LOL.

Going undefeated is the standard at WOS. That's the problem. People are saying it's ok to be down. Aw shucks attitude.

Spot on. Easy to see, even for an outsider

Yep people get caught up with race thing. But....if you know Orange, there's ALWAYS been a race thing. We just swallowed it and kept moving. I played at WOS and I don't feel sorry for them. When you start picking coaches and race is a factor, then you're actually not looking for the best...just a criteria. Sad end to an era.

HF is a whoooole lot better the last two seasons than they’ve been in years past.  Last year WOS beat them 24-8 after a couple of decades of beating them by 30-40 points.  HF has taken another step forward this year, IMO.  Silsbee has taken a big step forward.  WOS has been awesome in district over the years, no doubt about it, but this is the best district WOS has been in for as long as I can remember.   For years and years traditionally the only real threat to them in district was Silsbee.  And while they beat them in district consistently, we’re only a few years removed from Silsbee knocking them out of the playoffs two years in a row.  WOS has played possibly the toughest schedule of any 4A team in the state to this point.   Combine that with new schemes, and they’ve struggled.  There are some valid concerns with the coaching, I get it.  But I don’t think it’s a guarantee that they wouldn’t have 2-3 losses at the point if they had the same staff as last year.  With the exception of HF, all the teams that have beaten them this year have also beat them at times over the last several years as well.

    It's a guarantee...

So you're saying a 1-2 team can't make it to state? Gotcha.

I never thought I'd see the day when mustang fan would turn out to be a whiner and a quitter. Y'all should be ashamed of yourselves.

Its a tough district. Should prepare you for the playoffs. Quit living in the past and focus on the task at hand -this season. Because it's the only season that counts.

That is the most off the mark comment on this thread. Sounds like someone from a program just happy to make the playoffs every once in a while and has NO clue how the Mustang program is run.

  12. 2 hours ago, Lions Pride 2021 said:

Yes they have. Several posters have pointed out multiple season where they lost 4-5 games in a season. Both Hooks and Thompson had off seasons. Most recently was 2018.

The only thing that matters is making the playoffs and advancing.

Mustang fans have short memories and are very spoiled.

There is a 4 loss season, and a really down season...there is a difference. Losing to HF and getting boat raced by PNG and Silsbee is not just a "down" year for WOS. Anyone that can't see the difference in this team and other teams in the past are not really being honest with themselves.

The difference is, at WOS the goal isn't to just MAKE the playoffs...that's a given with this program. Any other program... then that would be a valid point. This program is always thinking...can we make it to state?!?  And who is in our way to get to state?!?!

Never.  But these losses are some good ones...can’t take that away from them.  Some of many that WOS can build upon and there will be many more.

Build on!!?? WOS was already built!!! They straight up TORE IT DOWN!!!! Overnight at that!!! Usually when you walk into a good situation you have a couple of good years, then you start to falter...not right off the bat!!!

Didn't say that. But I still don't think they win the game.

That is a COMPLETELY different team with CT. Returning 8/8...no way that game goes that way. To be honest CT is probably somewhere laughing his "you know what" off. It would've been a WAY more physical D...and they would know where to be, not confused. 50 years of experience will do that. I wouldn't put too much stock in that win...WOS isn't that good because they are obviously poorly coached. NO program takes a nose dive like this due to personnel, it's usually bad coaching and preparation.

Is it true during the PNG game WOS defenders were running into each other...confused?

I already said what I had to say about that, I don't agree with how some people are not supporting this coach in his first year.

Just need to admit it was a bad hire. You don't go from the team you had last year, return a good portion of players and then take a BIG step in the wrong direction. All he had to do was keep what was in place and coach his tail off. He didn't have to change ANYTHING in that program!
