WOS defense is not very good, but IMO, the offense is a bigger problem.
Not very good up front, and the QB is very inaccurate. He’s their best weapon, but only when he makes something out of nothing.
I said it weeks ago...WOS needs to start learning how to find and train QB's....I was mocked on here....and I played at WOS LOL!!! But now they need to find a coach...MY GOD!!! blown out by 20 to Silsbee???

This coach tore down a program in half a season. Who fixes something that isn't broken??? Just because?!?

Guys a loss to PNG and Newton is not a signal of a bad team. They have beaten us soundly many times. A win tonight over the Tigers and everything will be great in orange!
No but losing to a team that lost to Woodville iand getting manhandled by a PNG team that lost by 35 to an average Memorial team is not good at all. Is that where WOS is now with their program? Saying that our loses aren't that bad!?

Ok good! That's what I'm talking about!

Great game both teams. LCM got something special going on over there. WOS shouldn't have struggled and made so many mistakes. In the end it was our defense that stopped them.
All the talk about qb. They want to develope qbs. They want to run spread. They want the qb with seniority to continue to lead this team. He made outstanding plays tonight and missed on some sure TDs. Overall if WOS can clean up the mess and the confusion. They dominate all the way to Dallas.
Good points! If they can start getting those QB's to some coaching clinics to get the mechanics worked on...MAAAANNN this team would be 4 in row quite a bit more often. !

Are there any QB coaches local?
QB academies in Houston.

Didn’t mean that any of it is a knock. For the longest they were one of the smaller schools in 4A and even after realignment. Their strategy was to load defense since there wasn’t a ton of guys to spread around.
what I could definitely agree with is that the coaches stayed with some QBs because of their seniority.
anyway....good discussion. Just my thoughts.
this is true

I highly doubt they overlooked a top 10 team and crosstown rival
It'll be interesting over the next few years between these two.

Under Hooks, that makes some sense. It was a different era of football. Running game and defense.
LOL yeah you're right...absolutely on that one ha!

Or 3 in a row and another guy gets there for #4. There were a couple of guys ahead of Jack that WOS was ready to ride with that were talented. Yes, schools are putting more emphasis on it now as you allude to. Because football overall is becoming very “offense first”.
That's my point. I didn't say we never had decent guys...my point is they don't develop QB's. That's not a knock on WOS AT ALL! They're a defensive minded program and it has worked. But if you take a serious look throughout the history (recent) there are a few games that WOS could've won with better "developed" QB play...that's all. How is any of that a knock on WOS??

I disagree with your "no focus on QB"
How and why?

Have you seriously followed WOS over the years?
LOL...followed. I went through the program. Played under Hooks

I’m sure coaches throughout the years of WOS realize the importance of the QB. Not everyone has the talent pool and resources of an Austin Westlake.
I played at WOS...they do not put a lot of emphasis on it like schools are now. WOS has always been a defensive juggernaut. That's why they put the best athletes on defense. QB position at WOS has always been who can execute what we call and understand where everyone is supposed to be...that's it. Every now and then a "Jack Dallas" comes through and 4 in a row happens.
-
IF WOS EVER puts some serious emphasis in the QB position (Like they do defense) they would be almost unbeatable. The QB position has ALWAYS been an overlooked position at WOS. I mean serious development (Westlake style)...this school would be absolutely scary to play. Athletes EVERYWHERE!!!

why is "whatever happened" a secret? Can someone explain what happened? You guys are acting like you have state secrets and launch codes LOL...
-
LOL...silsbee thought they won state.LAST week...tisk tisk
-
Is this the most turnovers a WO-S team has had in a 3 games stretch? Seems like there has been whole seasons without this many turnovers
-
if they don't clean up the turnovers they will be 2-2 next week. They are going to have a hard enough time scoring on Crosby with a spread offense that can't throw...go figure. You make a good point! Why not pound people into submission with an experienced offensive line?? To be honest in todays day and age it makes no sense to have a QB that can't run that offense. there are too many tools available to help with throwing...camps, QB coaches, etc. Every school that runs this offense in Texas sends their QB's to these things...does WO-S??

Yeah, what kind of coach makes the state quarterfinals or better in EVERY season he’s been the head coach
what kind of coach plays agrees to play in a storm when they have a spread offense? Quit the worshipping
No one is saying CT is a bad coach, but that was a bonehead decision if there was an alternative. Did Silsbee want the game on Saturday instead and wos refused?
