And so 103 innocent people were shot and the one criminal had a gun. I'm willing to bet you will see pretty much the same scenario if the assault rifle is banned . The criminals who want to prey on the unarmed law abiding folks will still have the weapons to do it !

Lord Blue Dove there are places in Deep East Texas that make Irving street in Beaumont look like Sesame Street. Looking at the phone call transcript today it was a little over 3 hours from the time the first shots were fired until the gunman was killed. The majority of the people killed in this senseless attack were young males. I would have like their odds a lot better had a few of them been armed.

It certainly wouldn't have been 49 and 54 .

No one knows 100% what they would do in a hypothetical situation. I do know there have been times in my life when I received calls where neighbors or loved ones were in danger and called me. I can tell you I answered the phone and went to their aid. Even better chance if I stayed crouched in a stall I would be shot any way. Given those two options I'll take the gun every time. If you choose to stand by and watch people shot that's your decision . Who is right ? We will never know, hopefully.

The gunman in this incident reportedly not only reentered rooms and shot victims again to make sure they were dead. Text and called multiple people while the carnage was going on and even stopped and washed his hands as many as 3 times during thing this attack all the while multiple people were hiding and gunned down in bathroom stalls. Had I been armed and in the club I would have done my best to take this coward out, he apparently presented several opportunities. I was raised in a home where guns were a tool, we were taught to "aim small, miss small". Hard for me to imagine 1 person being able to shoot 103 innocent people and not be confronted.

You may want to pull that site up and look at it again . There are some glaring omissions , most notably the Freeway shootings in 2002 that I believe claimed over 20 victims.

There were probably 102 innocent victims in Orlando Saturday night who would now have a very differing opinion !!

I don't remember anyone knocking Hennigan, I know I didn't. I also know that the well was a long way from being dry in Spurger and Colmesneil when he coached those programs. One of the best small school games I ever watched was a playoff game at Hennigan park with McCabe on the hill for Spurger and Douglas pitching for Colmesneil. Both could have easily played college ball had they chosen to.

Yes sir, I caught your drift

The difference in this thread and one on Woodville's softball program is eye opening. Someone one questioned the softball coach's decision to play a one game series and Eagle fans were quick to support him. The baseball coach wins 18 games and makes the playoffs and some of the same people basically say good riddance. Woodville is very lucky to have a really good softball coach and to have also had a good baseball coach. Both deserve kudos and best wishes in their respective future plans. That return to glory tour would be a lot easier if the Becks, Riley's and Winters had some eligibility left

This HAS to be addressed...Shame on you SETXSports...

Maybe they are just inept at what they do ?? There doesn't have to always be an agenda. Any coach that goes in to the hall of fame is very deserving of all the recognition they get. I for one have never been a big advocate of inducting players or coaches into any hall of fame until after they have retired. Just my two cents. -

West Brook's Coach Simon Retires
whsalum replied to BMTSoulja1's topic in High School Boys Basketball
The article said he went to the playoffs 14 out of 18 years. There are a lot of schools that would take that record. I saw West Brook a couple of times last year and the talent was not there to make deep runs at the 6a level. -

Kelvin McKeyer was a pretty darn good football player so he probably made the right decision. -
Regardless of coaching or players it takes a break or two along the way to win a state championship at any level. A silly foul, a bad call or a turned ankle makes an average coach out a hall of famer. On the other hand if none of those occur a good coach with great players can win a title. Coach Boutte is a great coach no doubt about it but with all the fall out in BISD I'm surprised they can meet the salary needed to land such a proven coach at West Brook.

Haven't gotten to see the Warriors this season, seems like the wheels fell off ??

I think by the time next season rolls around the Hawks will be very capable of making a playoff run. They will be young no doubt but very athletic. The record this past season of the Freshman and JV teams I believe was 36-4. They will have 3 players returning on the varsity. I have always loved Parquets game and hope he makes a wise choice. If I had to rebuild with a young club I personally wouldn't mind having building blocks that were 36-4. Go Hawks !!

I don't doubt they never moved, I was just curious what improved academically so much that convinced them to leave Beaumont schools -

I gotta ask, when did Silsbee's academics get so good that all these players wanted to enroll -
The Tigers had a really good D1 player a few yeas back that played for Lamar. I believe his name was Arline, solid player in college.

WAYYYY TO EARLYY CLASS 3A TOP 10 2016-2017
whsalum replied to TopDawG52's topic in High School Boys Basketball
That wouldn't surprise me. I would hate to see it not only for the high school game but also the kids making those choices. In spite of all the rumors out there not every AAU player will get a D1 scholarship, sad to see a kid give up such a big part of their youth banking on a dream that more times than not doesn't pan out. -
Coach Coleman did a good job with a young club at Memorial and definitely deserves to retain that job, he was a questionable call away from beating Ozen early in the season this year and seemed to have the kids buying in to what he is doing. I know Coach Boutte is a heck of a coach but it's hard to argue with what Coach English has done with programs at Vidor and Nederland. From what I've saw with the West Brook clubs the last few years it may be tougher to get them competitive in 6a than it was Nederland and Vidor in 5a. If that were the 2 choices West Brook had they couldn't lose in my opinion.
