Depth is a problem for the Lions especially if they lose TJ. I had predicted a 75-70 final with the winner not losing their big gun to fouls. I was close

I have never seen a basketball game officiated like this in all my life and I have spent a lot of hours in the gym, even officiated quite a few games in my younger days. There were multiple calls over turned or changed down the stretch in this game. On one possession a block was called by one official, a charge by the other. The "dominant" official over ruled his counterpart. On another possession one of the HJ players wound up 2 rows deep in the stands but no official saw the shove that put him there. Play was stopped on at least 1 occasion where there was a wide open drive to the basket and no call made. Overall the mechanics of this crew was awful, no other way to put it.

The first game was pretty vanilla, like a poker game where neither team wants to show their hand. This one will be close. Kountze should get a few points at home. The difference in this game will be whom ever stays out of foul trouble. 75-70 Don't know who fouls less

That wasn't the only strange happenings in this game

This was a very good game with a great atmosphere. HJ had every chance to win it but you gotta tip your cap to Huffman, they hit big shots when they had to. This district is pretty even in the top 3 spots.

Once again I will advise everyone to use caution hanging banners two or three years into the future. Strange things can happen dealing with 16 year old players in pressure situations. Silsbee has a very good club, one that should be in the mix for a title. That being said there's lots of basketball still to be played this season.

Where in the world are the Jrs and Srs in a 5A school ? Tough district to compete in with Freshman and Sophomores.

I thought he was saying Buna won by 10+, I knew the game was already played lol

The 4 pt play late in the game seemed to light a fire under the Hawks. I have seen more than a few of those missed slams come back to haunt teams over the years.

Buna has a pretty good young coach too.

Last night I watched a very concerning commentary on Social Security. Seems the plan is to curtail benefits to those who have managed to build their own nest egg. It also is to push back the age that those under 50 will be able to draw benefits. The reasoning is that the program is bankrupt. . For years people in this country were required to pay in to social security, those that were responsible also attempted to put back a little for a rainy day or for retirement ( savings accounts, 401k etc.) The people that will be punished for this blatant misuse of government funds are the very ones that have kept the system afloat for years !! How about the folks that spent the money, replace it. What ya'll think.

These cowardly young people should thank their lucky stars this young mans family hasn't located them. Some things just call for an eye for an eye !!

Looks like another good field this year . I look for Oak Ridge to come out of Pool D but I could be wrong. Not sure what Chapel Hill or Tatum has this year.

Duane will figure it out I'm sure but it's going to be a challenge. There isn't enough depth or speed for them to play the pressure defense that have always been known for. They have two pretty good shooters but they pull it from way behind the arc. They have a decent high /low post combo but can't seem to get them the ball. I do know tired legs make a world of difference shooting the long ball. I didn't see anyone on their JV that was ready to move up and only 7 suiting up for the varsity. All that being said they are still probably the favorite to win the district . It will be a good game when them and Buna play.

The Tigers are good but rankings in week 2 and $ 4 bucks will get you a cup of coffee at Starbucks. Early season rankings in high school basketball usually aren't close. Silsbee deserves to be where they are or up a notch. Wagner, I don't know anything about.

The big kid got in early foul trouble and #2 and #4 both fouled out. Shots weren't falling it got outta hand early in the 3rd. Huffman has a good ball club. They shot a heck of a % from behind the arc tonight.

Kountze looks like they may not have the speed to press this year. They got in foul trouble early and missed some really LONG 3's . They are playing right now on dead legs. The first time I've ever seen them drop back in a zone in the first half and I have been watching them a long time.
