1. There is absolutely nothing wrong with a team that plays as group and does not have a go to type player. To be honest with you there aren't a ton of go to type players in the area this year.Usually a go to guy is someone who can average 20 a game but more importantly he can put the team on his shoulders when they have to have a play whether it be a bucket, steal or rebound.EC had one of the best at this I've ever seen but unfortunately for the Bucs he plays in Arkansas secondary these days. This would be a god topic for another thread. It may give some of us a look at the local guys stats.
2. I know the coach that is there now remembers a couple of brothers named McDonald that were pretty darn good post players. The type team EC has this year can't overlook the Anahuacs and Deweyvilles of the world. These clubs are a lot closer than they have been in the past but I still give the Bucs the 2 spot in my poll.If you have never traveled to Anahuac for a district game it can be an eye opening experience and if you don't control the boards and get back on defense it can be a long trip home from Deweyville.
3. I've always thought you were better off playing than resting but this game is probably not real good for either club. Both of these clubs will pull a pretty good crowd playing at either ones home court but the semi pro club that plays at Ford Park doesn't pull much in the way of attendance so I don't see the big lights aspect.Neutral fans will go see Silsbee/Kountze HJ/Silsbee or Kountze/HJ but not many are gonna watch a rematch of a 31 point blow out.I would like to see a 2 game set at Ford Park with E/C playing Spurger and HJ taking on either the Brook or Cleveland.I would definitely pay to watch those.

5. I have seen them 4 times this year.At EC it has always been about the system.Hank and the kid that are there now have always gotten more out of their clubs than I thought possible.I haven't seen a standout on this years club but a club that can score off the press and 3 or 4 kids that can shoot in streaks.Iwas going off what I had seen of Carrington in the past couple of seasons. The new kid has learned to hook players on the block but is going to have to put on some muscle and learn to catch and shoot the 12/15 footer to be an offensive factor.
6. Silsbee has their basketball legs under them now so they win the rematch by 8.Let's face it folks if The Silsbee,Kountze and HJ clubs want tough competition on the tourney trail they would have to travel or play each other.Look at it from the other teams perspective it helps the clubs like Woodville,EC and San Augustine to see what the playoff competition will look like.
Thank ya sir.I'm starting to think the light at the end of the tunnel isn't the train  ;)Hope the Weldons have the greatest of new years.

10. Modest fans award is a tie between HJ and Kountze. Legend in his own mind award goes to Swagg in a runaway  ;D Just kiddin swagg I love the banter you stir up,it's what makes the board fun.
11.
spurger killed hardin today, and i don't know any other scores.
Is this the same club that was supposed to be better than the one that had Marsh, Nolan and Davis??
12. Now thats funny I don't care who you are.
13. I hate to grade your paper no-look but I theenk it r spelled texnology  ::) ::)
14. Damn, If I could learn to shoot the 3 thru the bifocals maybe I could still play  ;D ;D
15. Thanks for the broadcast this week.I had the flu and haven't gotten out of the lazy boy since Sunday.
16. It's not far,about 60 miles from Beaumont.
17. Court, is Daniel going to be back at full speed by the time district starts??If so I gotta give a pretty big advantage to the Pirates. The Sharks have two good mid-range scorers but I give the edge to Blankenship behind the arc,Whittacre on the block and McGallion on the point.Spurger also gets a slight edge in the coaching catergory. If these two clubs are both healthy I like Spurger,if Blankenship isn't 100% it's closer but the Pirates still have the edge.
18. You can't blame the Tigers for this years tournament field. The talent level varies so much from year to year you never know what you will face.In all honesty there isn't but a couple of local clubs that could challenge the Tigers and one of them is in their district and they have already played the other one.
19. Thank goodness.I was afraid I was gonna be banned for improper verb usage  ;D ;D
20. When you hit a 23 foot sky hook from the corner you're definitely feelin it.The thing that impressed me the most about the club as a whole was how unselfish they were with the ball. That surprised me.
21. Cayuga always has the athletes but for some reason lose before the make it to the drum.I haven't seen Slocum this year but in the past they have always been very fundamentally sound and would not beat themselves. If Yuga has some players hurt I'll take Slocum strictly because they will be disciplined and won't beat themselves.
22. No doubt the team they beat last night could play and was very well coached. The defensive pressure was definitely yhe difference.I believe the Alabama club had 20 turnovers in the first quarter. The Young kid from Yates reminded me of former Lamar guard Mike Oliver, when he came across the mid court line he got a gleam in is eye.
23. I'm going strictly by memory here so bare with me but how many of these local teams mentioned wound up winning sate?I know the one Ozen club did and a couple of the Lincoln clubs but I think Silsbee had an early playoff exit with the club that lost 1 game. The team that Yates beat yesterday by 30 won the Alabama state 5-a championship last year so no doubt they can play. The scheme Yates runs reminds me of the really good Kountze clubs with more depth. As far as the coaches go Wise is a very good coach who took a few years off to watch his sons play.I don't think Boutte would have a huge advantage on him by any stretch.
24. The Willowridge club could have played with these guys I believe but the local clubs that were mentioned I don't think could hang. The defense these guys play is unreal and Young's shot is scary good.
25.

Where you at TrueBlue?? What's goin on with the Bucs??
I am trying to be nice and not attack anyone SO I will just say that we are a work in progress. Just hope they work it out before next week. There seems to be a little jealousie breaking out between some of the Srs and there post man. At the Kelly game they played the hole 2 and 3 Qr and never feed the ball inside. Kelly did not have anyone on the floor over 6'.  For some reason they now think they are a jump shooting team. In the OF game they just quit pushing the ball in the 2 half. Just walked it up the floor and never atacked the basket and setteled for outside jump shoots and made none . The 2 centers for EC did not have 10 points. OF went on a 10 0 run to start the 3 Qr and EC just seemed to quit. I have confidence that their young coach will have it worked out by next week. He started a hole different 5 in the second half against HJ tonight and they realy pushed up the floor they were the younger players and made some misstakes but he showed the 5 starters that if they dont wont to push the ball he had 5 more that will.
They looked to me like they are going to have to score off their defense and they had several kids that could shoot the ball in streaks.I didn't see any dominate players offensively on the block. The tall kid shot free throws pretty well but didn't seem to be an offensive threat.I guarantee the young guy coaching them will put his 5 best on the floor. From the 4 games I've seen them play so far this year I think the key to them finishing 2nd in the district is getting Carrington well.
