I haven't gotten to see some of the big schools so far this season but most of your small school guys are close.Ricossa would belong on the list if he's healthy as well as Turner from HJ.The 2 bigs from Kountze are solid(Walker is the best player in the area). The most overlooked player in SETX is Whisenant from Kountze he just does his job day in and day out.I saw EC 3 times and they had a shooting guard with some speed that is developing I think his name was Green but not sure .I didn't see any standouts on the Bucs but they play together and are well coached.Carrington has alot of potential when he gets his BBall legs under him.On the 1-a level you gotta like Whittacre from Spurger and the tall kid from Sabine Pass.

Orangefield vs Sabine Pass/ Sharks Win 52-47

Depends on which O-field club shows up and which SP clubs shows up.Both of the clubs have been hard to figure so far this year. They have both been impressive in some wins and then get beat by clubs theyshould beat.Orangefield will probably be a little deeper but SP has 2 quality players who can score.I'll take the sharks in this one by a bucket at home. -
Sabine Pass is playing great and will beat up on Spourger without Blankenship and Hutto. With these two Chase, Whittaker, and Rawls all together Spurger will pull out a win by two or three
I don't know the Hutto kid but Daniel makes the Pirates better for alot of reasons.First of all he is a very good shooter,he plays good defense and most important he is a senior who provides leadership. All that said Spurger still has an advantage at the point and at the post. They win the game at home with or without the injured kids. -

I was afraid depth might hurt the Panthers. Is Coach West still at Anahuac ?? I didn't see him this past weekend and someone elses name was in the program. -
That wasn't an excuse TruBlu it was an observation.I'm not from HJ so I don't make excuses for them.I saw several of the Bucs games this past weekend so I know exactly who and how they played.High school ball is all about matchups and emotion. The Hawks were flat tonight and trust me the Bucs don't match up with Lions this year with or without their 2 bigs.I do think EC has a good shot at making the playoffs this year but they will have to beat Anahuac and Hardin to do so and Deweyville will be a challenge at Deweyville.I agree the Hawks are alot better with Ricossa but Anderson had 19 rebounds tonite, that aint bad.

Cleveland has several pieces to the puzzle. The twin kids in the backcourt are solid and the big kid has great hands but was out of shape last year in the playoffs(not sure how that happens that late in the season}.They played a great ballgame against HJ but didn't make many adjustments during the course of the ballgame. In a one game playoff they would be very dangerous.

Lord Coop is that a typo??? 14 points in a half ??
-
HJ spent a huge amount of emotion on Saturday night after a very tough game against Kountze. Couple that with the missing post player and the game gets a lot closer than it should be. EC has a very good young coach but the pieces of the puzzle may not be there for a regional run. They will be in the playoff hunt in their district race with Anahuac and Hardin.

I dont normally say anything for obvious reasons but anyway, 10 has stepped his game and leadership up. It's all right to brag court side. As Dizzy Dean said" it ain't bragging if you done it ". Hope Daniel is back by the start of district. -
You never know what you'll get with Milburn. They will have some atheletes but never look the same 2 games in a row.
-
There are also always some giant killers lurking around the Tyler area ;) ;)

court side is Daniel gonna be back before district starts?? -
It's a long ways to Austin. The Lions have a very good ball club and the 2-a clubs seem to be down in region 3 from what I've seen so far this year.A team with a good guard combo will give the Lions some problems and I'm sure somewhere in the 2-a ranks there is a club like that.I hope they make it to the drum because they are a lot of fun to watch in the paint.

3 Days, 16 Teams, 48 Games.......1 CHAMPION!!!

You could tell EC has a QB on the squad because the pass was perfect.Gotta feel for the EC kid #32 who proved again you gotta hit free throws to win close games. -
I just gotta ask.Why is it when Kountze wins it isn't the referees and when they lose it is always the refs ??? ???

To all of the good people in Kountze good luck with the rest of the season, yall are the bst 2a team I have ever seen.
You didn't get to check out the 07 Kountze Lion 2A team that was the Best one ever in the state of texas IMO
I'll agree with that Dawg.Walker is a great player but that team had 2 great bigs and the difference I spoke of in another post is the guards. That club had Coffey who made it all happen.

I'll have to agree with HJHawks about the officiating. The girls and JV clubs are getting the short end here. There wasn't an official on the floor in the 2 days I was there that hasn't been working varsity games for awhile. The type game Kountze plays dictates why they get in foul trouble not the officials. The only problem I saw with any of the officials all weekend was the need to explain calls and smooth things over with the players.I know I'm old school but when you blow the whistle, line up, shoot the free throws and go to the other end.Good coaches here on both benches.Heres a news flash-this was a game between 2 very good teams, played hard and won by the home club.Happens everyday in the game of basketball and it's not all that unusual.
