1. They are awful small this year but they don't seem to have the interest in the game that you have to have to be successful.I still don't know why you would play a tournament game  the morning of a district game  when you don't have much depth.
2. Texas only problem yesterday was having enough balls to play with.Four players over 20 pts apiece is impressive and Pittman is a monster.
3. I have seen all the kids that I mentioned. If I put together a top25 list it would have 3 kids from Kountze on it and 3 kids from HJ.Turner,Ricossa and Gus.The reason I mention the kid from Hardin is because I ,once again have seen him many times. It would be similiar to a kid being red shirted off an injury in college. If he was projected to come back you would hold a roster spot open for him.And you're exactly right this is just opinions, that's what makes it fun.
4. Then start a thread bragging on the mighty Tarkington Longhorns, god knows thats never been done.Warren is in real trouble this year. They don't seem to do anything in the off season to get ready to play and you can't pick up the ball in November and expect to win.
5.
So Sabine Pass could give Spurger a run for their money?
If both teams are completely healthy Spurger has a slight advantage but they are pretty close.
6. I wasn't confused at all Truth.I made a simple observation that a win over an average 3-a club that was missing their best player doesn't propel the Sharks in to the top 10.Regardless of what year you are in if you're still playing at any level you can ALWAYS get better. The Sharks have some talent, no doubt, but they need to stay focused and improve each week. Then look back at the rankings in February when they mean something.I didn't mean the post as a downing of the sharks just a comment about playing and not worrying about polls.I know Chad watches enough local games he knows who has what on the court.Good luck to you guys the rest of the way,I hope to get to check your club out soon.
7. Their is a HUGE difference in being one of the better players on your team and being one of the top 10 players in SETX.I haven't seen much talk about any of the kids from Memorial(a pretty good club)or Forney from Nederland. Some of the players mentioned in this thread couldn't start for Kountze,Silsbee or HJ.There are probably 5 players in 23-aa that would get a mention on a top 25 list.Walker,Brey and Whisenant from Kountze. The PG from Hardin if he rehabs enough to play and the Mayes kid from Anahuac.
8. I gotta agree with baseball25 about the PG.I thought he was done for the year but if he comes back he is definitely a difference maker. He not only puts pressure on the "D" but can flat out shoot the long ball. The officials that call in Hardin and Anahuac also let the kids play physical you just have to adjust.
9. Consistant play comes from the coach folks and Ozens is in Pt.Arthur these days.I know Duane isn't scared to rebuild but the reigns at Beaumont Ozen would be a huge career boost.
10. HJ,Silsbee and WOS are the cream of the crop in this district. It's not even close after those 3.The Stangs are much improved and if the top 2 sleep on them it will be a mistake.
11. I haven't heard.I can't believe Warren played in a tournament yesterday morning and had a district game last night.
12. Come on folks you beat a very average 3-a club at home without their best player.Just worry about getting better each game and not so much about the rankings.
13. Is that the same kid who filled in for George against the Sharks last year? If so he played well in that game.
14. Very good win for the Hawks without Ricossa.I'm sure they came out focused after a let down on Tuesday.
15. Neither club has shown any consistancy and the cats were missing their best player. Not a good combination on the road.
16. Makes me look like a handicapper  ;) ;)
17.

Blane Dunigan from Ec has got to be in the top 20. He is playing for a new team in a new position and leading the team in points reb and blocks, And only playing 1/2 of the game, comming off bench. And making alltrun. in the HJ turn.
he might crack the top 25.... he isnt that good
EC has several players that look like they may develope into pretty good players. The games I've seen no one has been consistant but someone looked pretty solid each game.Green,Jones,Carrington and Davis all looked good at times. The coach is the key to this group,he puts them in a position to win.I've never seen a top ranked high school player that didn't start.
If you wonder how good their coach is, just look at the two late plays he set up in the finals of the HJ tournament.  One almost resulted in a game-saving layup, but the kid traveled when he lost control on the landing.  The 2nd one almost resulted in a full court tip-in of the inbounds pass with just .3 seconds left on the clock!!!!!.  Yeah, I believe coach knows what he's doing........
That was my point exactly. The 2 plays near the end of the Huntington game were drawn up nearly perfect they just weren't quite executed. This young guy is doing a great job.
18. I wouldn't call them on a lucky streak.Their record isn't that good and so far I think they are under achievers but regardless of the size of school they have a couple of pretty god ballplayers and it looks like O-field will be without their best player.
19. I heard today Sam Houston infielder and Tyler county standout Braiden Riley has named to the pre season all american squad.Great news for one of the hardest working young guys you would ever want to watch.
20. EC wins this one even if the Hornets are at full strength.EC by at least 10.
21. Kountze graduated heavily last year and will take awhile to climb the ladder again but give them a little time. They pulled off a magic trick with the hiring of their new coach. He will have them competetive again sooner than we think, maybe not this year but it's no accident good teams emerge where good coaches sit and this guy knows his stuff.D-ville better get them while they can.
22. Unfortunately both the boys and girls get the short end of the stick at the JV level but their is no excuse to have conflicts with practice schedules and game days. The reason I got in to officiating was because I got tired of watching bus drivers and football coaches call ball games.Kids that work all week deserve better regardless if they are jr high, jv or varsity players.
23. After all the pre season hype I guess Kelly isn't quite as good as advertised.
24. I gotta disagree.I saw the Pirates beat the Sharks last year while they were witout Whittacre and I believe McGallion.I've watched the young coach at Spurger for years while he was an assisant at Big Sandy and also taking kids to Woodville and Kountze to play during the summer. He understands the game and would still have an edge with a healthy Whittacre and a advantage on the point with McGallion. If Spurger gets the 2 injured kids back and the 2 replacements kids are getting some experience Spurger wins the district and probably goes thru it undefeated.
25.
Reed could be looking at his own press clippings....ESPN has him on their Watch List in football...Holding scholarship offers from Texas, LSU, OU, Texas A&M, Texas Tech,....etc
I can promise he'll have to be in shape to play at any of those schools.
