If you've seen 30 seconds of any game you would know what I'm talking about, it's just different, and obviously it works, they won one game the year before last without Bickham and then with the same team that graduated some talent, they won district and went 2 rounds the next year, now they are back in the second round.
 2.

Where are you getting your information that Deel has no experience on the playing field?  That is untrue.  He has also taken a program that was in the toilet - Liberty- and turned it around.  The Panthers have improved each year under him and I expect that they will continue to do so.  And, teaching kids morals and ethics Should be more important than anything else.
So being in the playoffs 11 times out of 13 years and winning District Championships 2003 and 2004 is a program that is in the toliet???? ummmmm not accurate at all. Slack is a good coach, but why didn't they hire Douglas or Taylor or even Haynes at one time? He got the job, because of the old Superintendent just very much luck
In a 4 team 1A district that still takes 3 teams like Liberty's SEVEN team district, I would hope you could make the playoffs 13/13 years. Liberty has the largest district in the state (before the new realignment) and didn't get in with a 7-3 record, 5 points to Cleveland kept them out of it, they had a good year, the team looked good they just didn't finish, which I will blame on play calling and injuries in that one game. If Liberty would have won they would have been 8-2 and done in the first round and no one would be complaining because the team performed well and WOS would have been too much for them. IMO injuries and offensive play calling lost the Clevleand game, and Huffman outplayed them on that given night, and with the injury to Liberty's starting safety replaced him with a 5ft5 130 pount freshman against Huffman was a problem being that they are a pass first offense.
Acually Coach Slack wouldn't get laughed at. He will do a way better job than Shane Deel, He actually has playing experience from my understanding. Unlike Deel who is 5'2 and who is more concerned about soocer than worring about the whole program. Slack from my understanding was All-State at Hull-Dasietta in Football, Basketball, and Track and Field. Also heard a legend that he could dunk too back in his playing days. All the coaches of the district 22-3A and Liberty alumni are flattered at Shane Deel's results, and how he only made the playoffs 1year out of 4, and trust me me Slack would have his best athletes at every postion. So having 6"6 at a Tight End, and line up a faster, accurate, more posed Quarterback and running the triple option mixing it up with the pass and run ( which Deel doens't know how to utilize in the Shotgun Spread) will be a better fit for Liberty. Wish the school board members are who ever is in charge in hiring the AD/Head Football Coach will change things it's 2012 not 1970. We want Wins, District Championships, Deep Playoff runs, more attendance, more school spirt, and the last and most important thing is teach the young student athletes how to survive in the real world and show them that you can make it in life after football ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Again, how right you are!!!Couldnt said it better myself!! OH!!! Wait a minute!!!I thought Deel was 4'9"  :o
Yeah and Chris Johnson is an NFL running back but I promise you he couldn't coach a football team. There's A lot of coaches with no playing experience out there who do a fine job, but that's not the case since Deel does have playing experience so why don't you get you'r facts straight before you accuse someone of having no experience.
 4. And since the topic of this thread is liberty vs sealy I'll comment that Sealy is 31-2 state ranked 11th one loss to Schulenburg who is 30-4 and ranked 14th in the state for 2A but Hamshire Fannet was ranked 14th in 3A and although the score was close HF never led the entire game so I'm confident if liberty handled them they should be ready for Sealy I can't make a prediction because I haven't seen them play but I think Bickham will have the girls ready to play.
 5.

Bickham. Great girls coach over 300 career wins unique style I won't spoil it for you if you plan on attending Friday all I will say he is fun to watch. His style didn't translate well with the boys this year as he was head boys and girls head coach this year. But he has done well with the girls this year and last they won district last year and made it to the second round
That's awesome. Was he the assistant coach for the 2006-2007 Westfield Boys basketball team that was Nationally Rank and lost to Kingwood in the 5A Region III Finals?
I believe he came straight from being the head basketball coach from somewhere up north to liberty so I don't think so.
 6. Liberty is in the second round I didn't over estimate them, but I guess I did under estimate everyone else.
 7.

I would like to disagree with the comment  "most important thing is teach the young student athletes how to survive in the real world and show them that you can make it in life after football" As a parent of two of Deels athletes he has done an exemplarary job of teaching my boys about life and emphasizing the importance of an education.  He has helped them to beleive in themselves and has supported them after their high school graduation. Maybe before you talk trash about someone you should make sure you have your facts straight.
You got the moral and ethics right about Deel, but almost every coach in this generation really care about their athletes. Thats our problem with Liberty where just satisfied with little things going to the playoffs and losing in the first round. A better coach with experience on the playing field and coaching will make a great coach, because they know what it takes. So yeah if you like losing and barley getting by take the DEEL. I think we need to higher our standards in Liberty.
Maybe we do but Slack is not the man for the job

 9. Yes, Friday. And I am hearing the game will be played in either Magnolia or Pasadena, this is just what I heard though.

Liberty is fit for the offense they currently run, that is why they were the number 1 total offense statistically in south east texas last season. And as far as a more accurate QB? There is not one in Liberty, their may not be one for miles, even Huffman's Townley who has a cannon, and similair statistics isn't nearly as accurate as Fitzwater who threw very few interceptions this year.

Slack can't do that at HD lol much less Liberty.
Whether they need a new one or not that's your opinion, but I have seen HD teams under Slack that could have made playoffs in 22-3A, that were done in the first round in 1A
You're correct!! It is my opinion and the majority of the other parent's opinions as well. Its not all about winning either!!!
It may not be about winning, but when it comes to keeping/getting the job that's what it is about. Small things aside from winning may cause people to want a coach fired but they will blame it on a loss, and if you are a winning coach those small complaints won't even surface so it is in fact about winning.
 13.

I saw the highlight reel last night on KFDM & I have a question. I have attended the Barbers Hill Christmas Classic a few times and last night I recognized 2 of the 3 officials in the game as Bay Area referees (the chapter that Liberty uses). Why would H-F agree to play a play-off game with the opponent's home referees instead of neutral officials???????
Oh...must have been the refs fault. They must have favored Liberty. That explains it. Sounds to me like HF underestimated Liberty. Liberty may be a third place team, but they can play ball. Nobody came close to Splendora in district, until Liberty beat them in the last game. One may assume that Splendora would have had it easy, since they pounded Liberty by 30 points, in their first match-up. Point is, they are playing well, and should have earned your respect. BTW...what chapter does HF use?
Not only did they beat Splendora but they beat them; 51-21 shows how easily Liberty could have replaced them as the district champions if not for the 2 losses to Huffman.
 14.
Any truth to the rumor, H-D's Head Coach Joe Slack is going to take over as HC/AD at Liberty?
Yeah, he's taking over their moving 6'5 2000 yard passing QB Fitz to tight end bringing a WR to QB and running the tripple option.
 15.
The kid in the halo was Jay Trapp #12. From COLDSPRING! Seen the play and seen him at the playoff games in the stands in a halo. Bambam, look around page 12 and the topic Liberty/Coldspring game thread. You even made a comment about him.
EXACTLY! Haha, Bambam he was defintely from Coldspring, if you won't take it from a Liberty poster, take it from him he was defintely from Coldspring, and if you want to label a team that goes deep in 4A EVERY SINGLE YEAR, then go ahead and set yourself up for a major dissapointment if you did happen to face off against La Marque.
 16.
HF was clearly the better team in this matchup and I think they played the second half, not the first. Either way congrats on the win Liberty and good luck in the next round.
Yeah HF was CLEARLY the better team, I mean look at the scoreboard.  8)
 17. I'm hearing Liberty will play Sealy, any idea when and where this will be?
 18.
Fannett is a heck of a team, losing in the 1st round to a down liberty team uncalled for, this fannett team is a yr older this yr and last yr they went farther in the playoffs!!
Do any of you watch basketball? Down liberty team? They return almost very player from a 2 round deep district championship team they only had 3 district losses and they beat the district champ by 20! How are they down!?
 19.
Outcoached? Give me a break. 24 from Liberty got hot and hit some tough shots with a hand in her face in the first half. Liberty's coach knew they were outmatched at the guard position, but could defend the post and rebound which is why they played a 2-3 all night. HF missed a lot of shots and rarely got an offensive board because of it. HF's coach made a great adjustment at half. They denied 24 everywhere and made a run at a 14 point deficit. They played man-to-man very well. When 14 and 24 from Liberty drove, they played help defense and rotated...the sign of a well coached team. Liberty made their free throws in the 4th quarter, and HF just couldn't put another 5-6 point run together in the 4th.
You do realize number 24 is a guard so don't tell me HF outmatched them at guard everyone saw who the best player on the court was. And maybe if HF didn't wait till halftime to start coaching they would have won so yeah I'd say you were out coached, it wasn't a fluke, they beat district champion by 20 and only had 3 district losses
 20.
Wow thats bad, fannett shouldn't have lost this game!!
Liberty won district last year, undefeated. They lost in the second round last year. This year the beat everyone except they lost to Huffman twice who got second then they lost to 1st place Splendora who would have been undefeated but the second time Liberty beat them 51-31, so I would say 3 district losses and then a 20 point beating on the district champ should earn them a little respect, then last night they were up by 16 at half but let HF hang around, so IDK why everyone thinks this was a fluke.
 21.
Hmmm, thats interesting. Coach Haynes has 21 years as a head coach.  Coach Haynes is the most winning active coach in the entire Southeast Texas area with a record of 146 wins and 69 losses, 5 District Championships, 8 Bi-District Championships, and 1 Regional Finalist. Haynes has been named Coach of the Year 9 times and was also the NFL High school Coach of the year Award Nominee in 2003, holding the highest award a high school coach can receive.  Coach Haynes has also had 6 teams qualify for the 7 on 7 State Championship. It will be interesting to see if this rumor is true. But from looking over his credentials, this might be the guy to keep WB in their winning ways. Curious.....
What about the part of his career where he had division 1 receivers every year in Hardin, good quarterbacks and this is in 2A but couldn't do much, in 2A those were state caliber offenses, they scored 50 a game but never played defense maybe he should apply for an OC job but as far as head coach any coach could have racked up those wins in Hardin with those players at the 2a level.
