1. Slack would be good for the Hardin job, I doubt anyone else would even want it. He most likely will not get the WB job.
 2.
Surely flanigan can find a job somewhere in the area.  He is a great coach.  Hardin is open!
He is a great coach and should be able to find a job, but I think he is over qualified for the Hardin job.
 3.
Dayton turned 1443 Libetry around 600 Why do people think that dayton and Liberty will be able to play There is no up side for Dayton playing a small 3a 1. Dayton should win 2. If they lose it would probally cost the head coach his job 3. It does not help them when they play 3 and 4 rounds deep The trinty river battle was great in the 80s and 90s but Dayton has not played since the early 90s. Dayton has risen in the ranks of the 4a powers and 3a cant even make the playoffs consistently.
Correct, the numbers are too far apart it's just not a good match up. Huffman is 60 below the 4A level and Liberty is 100's and 100's of students away so IDK what they are thinking, you are descent in 3A because of your numbers, you would think they would be a powerhouse with those numbers, but they just simply aren't very good. I hope Liberty destroys them next year, but I haven't seen a lot of this years team to be able to say whether or not I think they have it in them.
 4. Donald Douglas is the man for the job.

Minus the playoff wins in football
All we have to do now is start losing at every sport but football and give up all of our State Championships and lower our school rating and we will be Dayton 8)
You also have to win a 4a playoff game
;D
Whats sad about Diamand and Octfeb is they would rather win a 4a playoff football game then have a better school or athletics/academics as a whole ???
This is Texas, and this is the High School Football thread, I would take football playoff wins over being academically distinguished anyday, but of course I'm from Liberty where we get neither so I guess I'm just a little desperate for some playoff wins because lord knows these kids aren't going to be academically distinguished, and we all know the towns people aren't voting yes on the bond to get new facilities.
 6.

Team.  The coaching leadership will be there.  How the players react to that leadership will determine their success.
Well if Chambers is at QB I think he has great leadership... And I think the team will be great with the coaching leadership.
Chambers spent a few years in Liberty and I wouldn't label him a leader, but I also don't think player leadership is a big factor in highschool football, coaching leadership is much more of a factor and Dayton has that so good luck to them next season.
 7.
Isnt the running back from Cleveland?
Yes, he went to Cleveland untill his 7th grade year came to Liberty for a season then moved back until his sophomore year, then he came back to Liberty. Next year he will be a junior and is still in Liberty, he rushed for 1100 yard last year as a sophomore.
 8.
Liberty since 2004 5-7, 5-4, 4-7, 4-6, 2-6, 3-7, 5-6, 7-3. Huffman since 04 9-3, 6-5, 3-7(4a), 2-8(4a), 5-4, 5-6, 9-3, 9-3 Total Liberty 35-46 Huffman 48-39 Even with our two abysmal years in 4a we still have a better record than you do. Since 04 Huffman has had 3 9 win seasons while the best liberty could do is one 7 win season (in which they didn't make the playoffs) Huffman has had 3 playoff wins and 6 playoff appearances, Liberty has had 1 win and 2 playoff appearances. Right now Huffman is on a different level than Liberty. The facts speak for themselves.
In your 2004 year that had Huffman in the second round with that 9-3 record, you were defeated by Liberty. In your 2005 year where you were 5-4 and lost in the first round to WOS, you were once again defeated by liberty. Liberty has obvious problems. The talent is their and nothing gets done with it, the fact that we beat teams with these records and this type of success and then lose to terrilbe teams keeping us out of the playoffs says one thing...coaching. Under Stewart and Deel this has happened, Stewart is no better than Deel, and Deel is on the RISE not the decline. Huffman, just live it up with your 4a facilities and your 4a numbers in 3a because when it's time to jump up where you belong, it's over, again.
 9. The Huffman fans are demanding some type of respect that they think they've deserved. You've done nothing, you beat Liberty 40-20 and it was a lot closer than the score showed. I guarantee you every player on that team was ready to reset the clock and go for 4 more quarters. A few fumbles, a pick, holding and things like that allowed the game to get 40-20 and you act like you are on a different level lol. Now the Coldspring game was 63-13 and when it was over, it was over. Everyone knows who the better team was and the players knew as well, but Huffman? You are nothing. There's Shepherd, Tarkington, Splendora then the next level is Huffman, Cleveland, Liberty, then Coldspring is on that next level that Huffman thinks they are on but aren't. Yeah you blew out Cleveland and we came a lot closer than they did, but they shows you how much a fluke that game was. With two injuries at the same inside linebacker position against a team who's strength is their running back it was a problem when the Panthers didn't have anyone to fill those gaps.
 10.
Bryce Cooper, safety, is getting looks and so is Blake Dalenburg, DE/TE and Johnboy Smith, DE/TE. Other than that nothing really. And i'm sure Jakobi Jones, Ozen RB, is gonna get some looks also.
I saw every one of Ozen's playoff games this past season because the BH game was such a great game I wanted to continue watching them, and after the playoffs were over and I looked back on the season statistics, I was surprised to see that Jones had that many yards in non-district, and district because in the playoffs he didn't do very much at all, and he's small. He's a good player don't get me wrong and apparently his better than I thought during the regular season but in the playoffs Ozen's QB and defense carried the weight.
 11. No. They had the number one offense period according to setx statistics that's all I meant by that statement and nothing More. And good thing you'r opinion matters to no one but yourself about bh and Huffman being superior to all of those schools history says otherwise and Dayton was included in all of those schools I mentioned and your saying bh and Huffman are superior to them? Lol you must not check in to much Dayton vs bh games aside from this year bh won head up but Dayton went further and Huffman? To Dayton ? Lol please don't tell me you guys are that conceited up their to where you think you could beat Dayton? And then Cleveland? Untill what 2 years ago neither liberty or Huffman could contend unless you want to go even further back where liberty dominated both teams and Cleveland dominated Huffman as well
 12.

Gotta love a class dispute between Liberty and Huffman. Thats about as futile as a dispute between BH and Dayton on who has the most humble fans.
I agree with that, everyone knows BH has the most humble and loyal fans!!
Barbers Hill has the most arrogant fans on this entire site, that's coming from someone who could care less about 4a football. Huffman is right next to them, both towns are filled with people who consider them selves above school like Liberty, Cleveland, Shepherd, Splendora, Dayton, Lee....the list goes on. The residents of those two schools believe they're on a different level for some odd reason when the all time record for Liberty vs Barbers Hill is Liberty 18 wins 12 losses and the all time record for Liberty vs Huffman is 17 wins and only 3 losses, so I'm not exactly sure why you guys think you are so much better than Liberty and as far as Liberty " continuing their losing tradition" they were a playoff team 2 seasons ago and went 7-3 last season, losing only by 5 to Cleveland which put them out of the playoffs, and had the number 1 total offense in south east texas so it looks to me like they are reinstating their winning tradition.
 13.
Lamarque will have a ton of athletes but be undisciplined. I would rather play them in the 2nd round instead of Navasota. Huffman Liberty and Cleveland will compete with Cold Springs for the title. Anyone heard from the kid in Liberty that hurt his neck? Been prayinf for that young man for a healthy speedy recovery.
And a far as the neck injury you are mistaken, it was a Liberty player who injured a Coldspring players neck, I saw the kid with full head gear 3 weeks later at the playoff game in the press box but I haven't heard how he's doing.
LaMarque will be undisciplined but they were a 4a powerhouse, for you to say you would rather play them than Navasota must mean you've never seen them kids play, they are ridiculous, they aren't undisciplined as far as the game itself goes, they are well coached, its the off the field nonsense and they unsportsmanlike conduct that let's them be labeled as undisciplined but on the field they are well coached. LaMarque would destroy Huffman, and Navasota.
 15.

All I want to know is if Deel is gonna schedule Dayton this year, like he promised when he started.
He was just "flappin' his gums"---Liberty wants no part of the Broncos
LOL it's funny how 40 year old men talk crap about Dayton's superiority over Liberty, when you were in highschool Liberty would have dominated dayton and as of now? The Liberty players know that dayton is a very good team and they know they couldn't win, but their is no hatred between the too schools like Liberty has with Hardin, the rivalry is over, unless Deel can get things turned around sometime in the future but as of now and probably for awhile their is no rivalry.
 16.

The Pre-District teams that Stewart scheduled verses the Pre-District teams that Deel schedules is a lot different.  So comparing their overall records really isn't comparing apples to apples.
yeah in 2004 Liberty played Silsbee, Bridge City, Hamshire Fannett, Stafford, and Kirbyville for there Non-District Schedule. Deel had Liberty scheduled against Hardin, Porter, Beaumont Kelly and Huntington. Very big differences in competion. Stewart always had Liberty ready for District with a tough schedule.
Deel's first 4 years he has had the same success as Stewart. WOSgrad had it dead on point. Yes, this past year there was absolutely no reason Liberty should not have been in the playoffs, but other than that he did what was expected. Deel isn't great, but neither was Stewart. Wish they would have hired Donald Douglas, he is having success coaching at the 5a level, not HC but still doing well, I feel he could relate better to some of the Liberty players who are deciding to fill Dayton's roster.
 17.
The coach that they have now. Deel, the funny thing about that game was the adults in the stands were more mad than the kids or coaches, and im talking elderly adults! Lol
Hardin beat them 56-28. I was really surprised that Hardin didn't go on to do good things that year. The QB and both of the WR's were very good. All 3 would have started in Liberty, a 3A playoff team that year. I feel Liberty could have done more if their star player on both sides of the ball wasn't injured in the first quarter. He carried Liberty through that year with over 1600 rushing yard, he had 76 rushing yards in 9 minutes in the 1st quarter against Hardin, and was also swarming the ball on defense, he was Liberty's leading tackler on the season as well, so it took a toll on the team anytime he wasn't on the field.

Undersized, under rated, lion hearted. Lead the district in rushing and second in team offense. Three rounds deep in the playoffs!! Dumb question.
Everything that you stated about vidors line could be said about Kelly's to. Not saying vidor didn't have a better line than Kelly I'm just saying it seems like both teams offensive lines were very alike. Under rated, undersized, and fought till the end every play. Both teams also had a potent rushing attack it seemed like anyone with decent speed could have gone in the Kelly backfield and picked up significant yards.
Here's a stat i bet you can't say about the Kelly line. In every single one of Vidor's game the offensive line was out matches by atleast 50 pounds per player and 2 games we were outmatched 100 pounds per player. That means each player had atleast 50 or 100 pounds less than the guy in front of them and yet they were still dominating. Here
I'll look up the stats tonight but it would not surprise me If Kelly was outsized by that much.
The fact that Kelly plays private school footbal means that it is highly unlikely they faced teams that out weighed them by 50-100 pounds, aside from the week they played Liberty they would have faced 300 lb Omar Tebo, and 270 lb Ryan Melton

 21. Ozen vs Barbers Hill!!!! 4th seed upset over a 1 seed ( who happens to be the loud mouths of SETX) great game, great outcome.
 22. LOL look at 57 seconds.
 23. Oh wow this is the basketball thread I was speaking in terms of football in my last post he isn't a basketball player
