And, how can those standings be final once Ozen clobbers Ant Hill tomorrow night??? Please, just a little love..... Wow, did I call Ozen over BH or what!! Really, your top three teams should read: PAM, NED and VIDOR!!! I don't think Coldspring can hang with any of us. Actually, I don't think they could hang with any good 4A team much less a 5A team. Ya'll are a little over the top with this one.
Look I like vidor and all but cs could definitively hang with Ned and Vidor. Not knocking either team, coldspring is a great team would probably be the best defense either of those teams have faced.
Didn't Vidor play BC this year and beat them by 15 points?
Didn't kville beat vidor last year? and getting beat by 15 points isn't exactly a blowout so I would say BC Hung with Vidor. Also WOS lost by 1 to Ned this year which is better than what Vidor did against them. Coldspring is atleast as good as wos if not better. So do you still think cs can't hang with and even beat you?
If you were at the game, Instead of speaking our your head like most people on here do, you would know that it was very very rainy, wet and extremely windy at Vidors stadium the night they played BC. I was at the game, Vidor's defense dominated but couldn't get much going due to the weather. -
I hate to tell u this but Coldspring could hang with any of those teams except for PAM. I think we could beat Livingston and PNG this year. You act like it is unreal for a 3A team to beat 4A schools. When I played we played 3 4A schools and beat two of them. The only loss was to 4A defending champ La Marque and we played them tough. So it is not unlikely for a 3A team that is good to beat 4A teams.
Liberty beat Porter. It isn't unreal? I said they wouldn't beat the teams I listed.

I'm just saying he didn't live up to the hype.
I can agree that against CS and Huffman, (the big games) he didn't play his best. Barber is faster? There is no doubt, but he is not better.
i personally think he's better probably cause i'm a Kelly fan they are honestly probably about even.
Probably so. Both fairly small, both fast, Jones is the KR/PR/RB/WR/Wildcat QB on a team that is deeper and better (according to the scoreboard) than Kelly. At least on that particular night. But Barber is also a very good player, they are probably fairly equal.
-
They would lose to Vidor, Ozen, Livingston, Nederland, PNG, Dayton, BH, Crosby, Lee, GCM. Those are just a few off of the top of my head. Coldspring is almost a 2a. They aren't suppose to beat these 4A teams or PAM. They are an above average 3A team, and would be a GREAT 2A team, and that's it. They aren't the Green Bay Packers, but they aren't overrated. Unless you guys think they would beat our area 4A teams then yes they are.

Maybe we weren't at the same game. Jones had an 11 yard touchdown run to grab a score to narrow the defecit before half. He came out in the third finishing off the Panther's drive with another 11 yard touchdown run. At the beginning in the 4th he led a drive that ended in a short TD run by Omar Tebo, and led another drive at the end of the 4th that ended in a Daniel Fitzwater rushing touchdown. Jones had 18 carries for 165 yards and 2 touchdowns. He averaged 9 yards a carry, and caught 3 passes for 40 yards averaging 13 yards a catch. He returned the first kickoff across the 50 and Kelly kicked away from him the rest of the night.

Lol, the Walter twins in Vidor??? Now that I would love to see.
-
These are some of his highlights from his sophomore year at Liberty. [Hidden Content] Comparing his junior season to his sophomore season he was bigger, stronger, and faster this year. He was a lot more explosive and played a lot of running back as well as wide receiver. Good luck to Jones in his Senior year next season. Statistics Sophomore year Receiving: Catches Yards Touchdowns 52 829 7 Rushing: Rushes Yards Touchdowns Yds per carry 38 280 4 7 Junior year Receiving: Catches Yards Touchdowns 47 634 3 Rushing: Rushes Yards Touchdowns Yds per carry 68 724 11 10
Well I guess we'll see then. I forgot the win over Crosby automatically put Vidor in contention for the state title. Man you described every team thats in the playoffs (playing hard all 4 qtrs etc etc). Vidor & their fans should have a chip on their shoulder and congrats to the kids they deserve it. Still have to pass in the playoffs and the coach knows that.
Yeah the Coach knows you may have to pass if its 3rd and 60 lol. You do not have to pass to win, it's that simple. They are a good team, it's not like they are a terrible team living off of running the clock and playing good defense. They are good, fast, athletic, and they do run an offense that lets their defense rest longer, they don't turn the ball over, and they are playing for a fallen teammate as well. Every team left is " in contention for a state title. "

Most surprising upset Week 1 of the playoffs

BH was severely overrated. This was not that big of an upset. Ozen plays in a tougher district (obviously). BH fans heads were too big and they got everyone else believing the hype. There was never anything there. I knew when things got real Dayton would strive forward and BH would fall, not necessarily in the first round, but eventually. If BH would have beaten Crosby then I would say it was a huge upset, but after showing that they weren't all that, it was obvious they would fall soon, sooner than Dayton at least. The biggest upset was Coldspring only beating BC 7-0. I'm hearing Sherman Gilbert played with the flu, and Monroe was injured early on. Something had to have happened because I saw both teams play this year early on, and I thought CS was going to blow BC out.
Matt Menard got hurt early on for BC, too. CS still had their best player on the field and BC did not. Had Menard not gotton hurt BC probably gets at least one score. Don't use the injury excuse for not blowing out a team you all said you would have beaten into submission at halftime.
A win is a win. Say whatever you want about why BC lost, but it doesn't matter. Now since CS did win the game, it is more rational to make excuses as to why they did not win by more. That was a slip up by CS. Fortunately the still won. Now they can use that game to better themselves now that they have come close to seeing a loss. This was their first game of the season. Huffman was fairly close, but lets face it, every player on that field knew who was going to win that game. Congrats to Huffman for playing hard, but anyways, this was their first test. -
BH posters should have slowed down with all that talk. Maybe BH is a "classy" community, but their posters on this site for the most part were not. After the Dayton win they thought they were the best thing football has ever seen. I can't explain to you how good it feels, being from neither Ozen or BH to watch the Eagles fall to a 4 seed in the 1st round. This is a program that is going to take some time to build up, their fans need to recognize that and except them for what they are.
Attention LILTEX : CARRANCO currently has 18 field goals. Dave Campbell has the single season record being 20. Maybe we will need another banner this weekend???
Let's go Carranco! What a great season he has had, and good luck to that young man in the future.
[Hidden Content]
Unbelievable. His feelings were hurt? Do you think the CEO of a future company for this young man will care that if he hires someone else he will be hurting this man's feelings? Coach Flannigan technically is the CEO of this organization, and it is a Coach's job to win games. If you go 0-10, 10 years in a row, I don't care how nice of a guy you are, and how good of a "molder of man" you are, your getting fired. The slip up to Lee was key, but Vidor is just better, for now.
-
Go Dayton.
-
Good luck to Ozen.
-
Coach Flannigan is a great coach. Hopefully he lands a great job.
-
Wow, that's very unfortunate. He was a great player. Gave Liberty problems early on, and if the coaches would have fed him the ball more, maybe he would have been able to help his team hold on to their halftime lead.

Darren Sproles actually was an every down back in high school @ Olathe North HS. He rushed for 2000 yards as a junior in only 9 games. 2400, 49 touchdowns, and a 6A state title in Kansas his senior year. You guys are comparing the way Sproles plays against NFL defenses to the way Lindsey plays against 3A HS defenses. As far as where Darren Sproles was at this point in Lindsey's life the two are incomparable. Good luck to WOS, and Britton Lindsey, I would love to see the kid play at a division 1 school in college.
-
Barber has 166 rushes for 1,416 yards and 18 TD's over 8 games.
Is he still playing for Kelly?
-
I don't believe so. These kids aren't under contracts or scholarships.

FINAL 2011 SETXsports HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL RANKINGS
AOO7 replied to WOSgrad's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Are you kidding? Did someone really say CS could beat PAM?? If they could, then CS would be playing 5A powerhouses in the pre-season to prove their dominance, rather than a 2A school, a non-playoff 3A school, and whoever else they played. -
From what I saw this wkn ....Cs is over rated.... very weak schedule will hurt them in the inn
Yeah, like it hurt them last year when they made it to state? Lol, get out of here. Monroe plays both ways but was taken out early on, he is the number 2 running back in an offense that runs the ball 98% of the time. Sherman Gilbert was reportedly playing with the flu. They are so well coached, that that was their one slip up of the year, and fortunately they are so good they still won the game. Now it's back to business with their running backs healthy and their state caliber defense rolling. They may have only won last week 7-0, but let's remember they still pitched a shut out in the playoffs.

I am very impressed with the way they play football. Hard hitting defense, straight ground and pound offense. Who says you need a 5 WR flashy offense, and 11 Deion Sanders on defense. Very disciplined, controlled themselves against after the play nonsense against Crosby, won with class.
It's just the first round and Vidor had trouble with Crosby...each week the competition not only gets harder but the depth of each team becomes more athletic. It's not, well this team has 1 or 2 studs to watch out for, it's the whole defense and offense you have to game plan for. Eg. Lake Travis, Brenham etc etc. Vidor won't win unless they throw. Period.
Then they won't win? They are in the 2nd round without throwing so far. Euless Trinity, 5A played for a state title last year and very good this year, 3500 rushing yards, less than 1000 passing. Yeah you are right if you don't throw you lose, lol.
Vidor and Trinity are two different animals. I won't say they cant win without passing, but it will be very difficult when they run into a good defence. Most teams that go far in the playoffs are balanced, that way the opposing D cant key in on one thing. Trinity however is just so much bigger, so much more athletic, and has more depth than almost every team they play, Vidor dosent have any of that.
Very true my friend. I was simply saying that overall, no you do not have to pass to win, that is all. I know Vidor is no Trinity, I am not saying that by any means, I was just saying you do not have to pass to win period. Vidor has been through a lot this season, and if you haven't seen them play you may just think this boring offense will be halted soon. However, it's more than just their effective run game. Every back they have runs hard on every play, every single o-linemen is blocking like his life depends on it, and they play hard nosed defense for 4 quarters. Well disciplined and well coached. They have all the qualities of a very good football team, and seems to me they are underestimated simply because of their offensive playbook.

Vidor, Ozen, Coldspring, Newton, and Dayton's kicker.
What no Huffman? Still bitter about the "unexpected" loss?
I was pulling for Huffman in the 1st round because 21-3A thinks that they are God's gift to football. The 2nd round for Huffman will be very difficult. I hope you guys win, but I just don't see it happening so there was no reason to list them. But hey what I know? I predicted a Liberty win over Huffman and Cleveland so obviously I know nothing about football.
Fair enough, but don't count us out yet.
I'll be following the game online. I had to choose between the Coldspring game and the Huffman game, and I chose Coldspring. Good luck to the Trojans and the Falcons, I guess we can agree on one thing. 22-3A > 21-3A.
