Thanks, but I have a question. Are you ok with the Confederate flag as a tradition? Are you ok with the use of racial slurs, traditionally speaking? Do you care that entire Native American tribes are hurt by your use of their culture simply for your tradition and entertainment? Is it incumbent on each tribe to “check in” with your team on the misuse of their race and culture, or should it be the other way around? Is it ok for non-whites to be passed on jobs of higher pay and skill because traditionally that’s the way it always was. Do you think blacks should get to vote? Do women deserve equal pay for equal jobs? Do you think the term Scalp ‘Em is appropriate? Is their ever a time your mascot and team name won’t be considered racist? Are you white?

Well, this guy and many other Native Americans disagree. Might as well use the derogatory term “Scalp ‘Em” while you’re at it. Oh wait, y’all do...my friend. I may be biased — after all, I am a Sicangu Lakota Native. After centuries of forced assimilation and federal laws preventing us from practicing our culture (until 1978), for some reason, many Americans now feel comfortable coopting Native culture. A good rule of thumb for this is when referring to Natives, call us Native American, Indigenous, First Nations, or by our specific band or tribe if you want some extra Ally Points, and just let Natives call each other Indian. Here's a non-verbal thing you should never do and immediately call out if you see someone doing: STOP DRESSING UP AS NATIVES. My race and culture are not a costume. Whether it's Halloween or having unknowing first graders wear paper feathers for the Thanksgiving program at the local elementary school, or a school team mascot doing a war dance, dressing up as another race is never OK. Seriously, try dressing up as any other race on Halloween and you'll end up in hot water. -Benny Wayne Sully

Sorry. You’re correct. Should’ve said white kid painted up and dressed up like a Native American.
-
I’ll agree, dressing up in “red face” shows huge respect.

Grasp your Traditions??? WHAT? If we are going by tradition as being the stamp if approval, the traditionally all us southern white folk ought to be flying the Confederate flag in our yards. Traditionally we ought to have a bunch of negroes that we pay next to nothing share cropping for us. Traditionally, a black man would not even think about pulling over in Vidor to get a pack of smokes or a tank of gas. I could probably do this “traditionally” thing for a couple hours, but I think you get my point. What if another Indian nation doesn’t like y’all’s Indian tradition you got goin on over there? You gonna get more letters? You sound like someone trying to say that the confederate flag is ok cuz some black organization said so 50 years ago. Why are you hanging on to hurtful “traditional” symbols just because it fancies you and all the other non-Indian (mostly white) folks over there on refinery row? Don’t you care about anybody but yourselves? You got one of them black lawn jockeys in your yard? Bet. Traditionally speaking, you’re a racist.

They’re not called the PN-G Cherokees. They’re the Indians. Think they might need to check in with a few more tribes?
-
Where do you come up with that?

It was a good video.

Real good, so far. Got about 40 minutes left.

I’m not commenting one way or another on his skills, but no need to call out a kid like that on here. Talking bad about the team as a whole or their coaching is one thing, but c’mon man, don’t act like a punk.

What about “Slingblade”? Any fans. I like that one a lot.

Good picks! “The Apostle”...what a freakin GREAT movie.

Would a player that only wants white teamates be tolerated?

I’m the world’s biggest outspoken loud mouth, but let’s keep this crap in the political forum. Whatcha think? And the only reason these very isolated incidents are so publicized is because people make such a big deal about it. It’s one kids goofy decision. Let it go. -
Sure is!

Nope. Here are the lyrics: People say I'm no good, and crazy as a loon 'Cause I get stoned in the mornin', I get drunk in the afternoon Kinda like my old blue tick hound, I like to lay around in the shade And I ain't got no money, but I damn sure got it made 'Cause I ain't askin' nobody for nothin' If I can't get it on my own If you don't like the way I'm livin' You just leave this long haired country boy alone Preacher man talking on TV, puttin' down the rock and roll Wants me to send a donation, 'cause he's worried about my soul He said, "Jesus walked on the water.", and I know that it's true But sometimes I think that preacher man, would like to do a little walkin' too But I ain't askin' nobody for nothin' If I can't get it on my own If you don't like the way I'm livin' You just leave this long haired country boy alone A poor girl wants to marry, a rich girl wants to flirt A rich man goes to college, a poor man goes to work A drunkard wants another drink of wine, and a politician wants your vote I don't want much of nothing at all, but I will take another toke ‘Cause I ain't asking nobody for nothin' If I can't get it on my own If you don't like the way I'm livin' You just leave this long haired country boy alone

Long-haired country boy is one of my favorites. America is a good one too.

Lmao. That’s hilarious.

Good point. All things being equal, the big difference is BC leaving and Vidor coming in. From all the chatter, Vidor is expected to sweep the district, which would look something like: Vidor, HH, Lumberton, LC-M But who knows. These are teenaged boys!
-
Correct. 1st HH, 2nd Lumberton, 3rd LC-M, 4th BC I think that’s how it went. Lumberton had same district record as LC-M but beat LC-M head to head.

Thanks for the personal insight. Tragic events can change the way we think and act - severely in some instances. I can’t imagine the loss of a child. Whether white, black, brown or yellow, I can only say that every race, every socio-economic background, every person has their own cross to bear. Just gotta realize that sometimes you have to look at things from now on and not in the rear view mirror. There have been lots of things in the past that I have done to be ashamed of. I have made lots of mistakes in my life and continue to do so. I just try not to make the same mistakes over and over. If it’s God’s will, I will be better tomorrow than I am today. I just hope my entire life won’t be judged on just the bad things. That’s what we are doing to each other. The way our PC society is today is that if you “F up” once, you are forever defined that way. Thank goodness our savior Jesus Christ doesn’t see it the same way. Maybe we need to learn to be like Him a little more. ALL of us. Someone asked me how I would feel about my daughter marrying a black man. I replied that as long as they love each other, and he treated her like she was the most important earthly thing in his life, then I would support their marriage no matter what. He can call me dad or whatever else the hell he wants to call me. I know I’m not the only white guy who feels the same. I bet it’s more commonly accepted than anyone cares to admit.

I never said anything about protesters.
-
I can only say that by allowing that to happen, you are a part of the “so-called” systemic racism.
-
No disagreement in this post. Even last year, HH was the only team that was indisputable.
-
Exactly my point. I think @ATTITUDE IS EVERYTHING gets a little handy with reality vs. emotion. Several mayors have asked for a mask mandate, but not a “forced lockdown” like he’s preaching. Needs to change his name to EMOTIONAL REACTION IS EVERYTHING. Lol.

Boykin’s a real good athlete, but Lumberton doesn’t throw that much, right?
