1. Didn't Cleveland make it to the Regional tournament and return almost everyone?
2. As much as I hate to say this, the Astros are probably done. Even though their remaining six games are against bad teams, they are all on the road and the Astros are awful on the road. I say 3-3 at best and that's not going to get it done. I hope I am wrong and they go 6-0 or 5-1. If they can do one of those two, they might win the division.
3. KOGT reported that she played tonight against Kirbyville.
4. KOGT says 4 games. Anyone know which is correct?
5. H-F won 3rd, Ozen 4th. Consolation went to Bay City. Hardin won the Silver bracket with Central runner-up. H-J won the Friendship bracket and Silsbee runner-up in the Friendship bracket.
6. Well, that does depend on whether or not you are doing a 3-step or 4-step approach :)
7. Great job to everyone on the list. I'm not sure who makes the list or how many make the list, but two of the best all around track athletes (and both made it to state) in the area didn't make the team. Just wanted to recognize Alexis Henry from BC and Becca DeLord from HF. Both are great athletes in field events and running.
8. I thought Dillon Taylor was on that team?
9. He ran a 2:02 (I think) his Freshman year. He has been at Silsee. Not sure when he moved to Warren. He's a very good runner.
10. I usually don't ever post anything on here unless it is reporting scores or meet results, but I just want to share what has come out of the girls side the 7 years I have been teaching/coaching (6 at HF). I know a lot of people think HF is in shambles and ruins, but we have been very successful and we have always been the smallest or 2nd smallest in the district in my six years here. Here we go: Cross Country: District Champs the past two years (Regionals every year from what I understand. Not sure about my first year here). Had a runner go to state in 2010. Volleyball: Playoffs 5 of 7 years. Only one and done once out of those 5. Had one team go to the Regional Finals. We have had several girls play in the TGCA All-Star game and many be voted to TGCA All-State. Basketball: Playoffs 3 of the past 5 years. We have had one girl be voted onto the TGCA All-Star team. Soccer: Playoffs 2 of the past 4 years playing in a 4A district with only one other 3A school. Track: District Champions 4 out of 7 years and 2 of the past 3. We have an athlete going to state this year. She was voted TGCA All-State last year and we had another athlete get voted onto the TGCA All-Star team but she could not accept because she was also on Basketball. Hopefully we can keep winning in the sports we have been and get some of those other sports up so we can be successful in ALL sports. The most important thing...HF is a tremendous Academic school and is 2nd to only HJ in their scores in this area. It is a great school district.
11. I've been looking through our records and I can't find anything. The records have some gaps in the late 90's. Kim Owen in 85/86, Terre Johnson in 85, Falesha Brown in the mid 90's, and Tamara Spikes in the late 90's all ran times that were fast enough to make it. I just don't know if they ran those times at the right time. I know you were in school around Brown and Spikes...any idea if they made it?
12. The records I have show Anglia Munson going to state in Shot and Disc in 2000. She placed 2nd in shot and 8th in disc.
13. Jeff was my wife's dad. Very familiar with the Peveto legacy at OF. Yeah, that Ledoux kid went on to run the 400mH at Lamar I believe. He was a couple of years before my time.
14. His name was Jake Champagne. He went to Adams State in Colorado for a little bit and then came home to Lamar. Our district actually finished 1 and 3 at state that year in the 800m. I believe Jake went 1:53 at state and Justin Fisk from Lincoln went 1:54 or 1:55. I might be off on the times. My coach came up to me in the middle of the season and asked me if I wanted to try another event because he didn't see me getting to Regionals in the 800 anymore (that was our original goal). So, I took his advice and switched events...lol.
15. My teammate and friend in HS ran a 1:52-1:55 on a regular basis. I think he averaged in the 1:53-1:54 range. He graduated from PN-G in 2001 and won state in 2001. I do not believe he PR'd in state though. He went on to win the SLC in the 800m.
16. I hate that this happened and no community, school district, parent, or coach wants to be represented this way. I also hate to see that this has governed more attention than the District meet itself. A lot of great stories happened during that track meet, but not seeing much covered. Our district has the opportunity to send multiple athletes to state with the times they recorded at district. I for one would love to see the media start showering the public with positive news instead of negative, but the media gives the people the news they want to hear :) Great job to the WOS boys and girls 4x200m and HF's boys 4x400m. All times that put them in the running for an opportunity to go to state!!!

18.
You really think WOS(girls) was missing there 2ND fastest GIRL..
Turns out I was wrong. They ran a 1:45 without their fastest girl!!! They went 1:43 tonight at district. This 4x200m team has a shot at winning state.
19. The previous format that 3A was doing allowed the Top 3 from 8 districts: 3x8=24 The new format is 4 from each district to area and then the top 4 from area. Area is putting two districts together, so the 8 districts basically becomes 4 meets to advance to Regionals: 4x4=16 You will actually have 8 less in each event, but I like the move. Regionals has become watered down because you aren't actually getting the top 3 from each district in each event. Very often a kid will move from an individual event to join a relay at regionals so you might end up with 1,2,4 or 1,3,4 or numerous scenerios. Quite often it's not the top three. Also as Craig said, many districts are stronger in some areas than others. I know there has been years where I've had distance kids sitting at home that would have beat over half the girls at regionals and I'm sure there schools that can say that about their sprinters. Unfortunately for us, we run into Huffman at Area...lol. I think all-in-all, it's a good move. There are two things I don't like though: 1) The area meet should not be optional between the two districts if it is going to be in place. 2) If you make it mandatory to have Area and it gets rained out, you can take the top 3 out of a district instead of the top 2.
20. Absolutely amazing!!! He is already at Olympic speed if he can put races like this out time after time. I know you can't always do this especially because his wind was +0.9 and the olympics was -0.3, but here are the results of the finals in the 110mH in London this year. [Hidden Content] Just an idea of how good his time is.
21. I know they were. Her last name is Teel. She ran a 26.4 earlier this year in the open 200m. The only girl that I am aware of that they have that can run faster is the Cole girl. I didn't clock them myself, but the results show that they ran a 1:45.
22. If you have a GREAT hand held timer, you can add .25 to make it close to FAT. My kids ran that meet last night and the times were pretty inconsistent, which can be expected with hand held. Janice is a fast kid. I also believe it was a fast track. WOS girls went 1:45 in the 4x200m...I don't believe they have went under 1:48 before this meet and they were missing their 2nd fastest girl. I hope they can shave a second or so off that time. They have a chance to win state in the 4x200m with at time like that.
23. Well...14 for 16 on day 1...7 for 16 on day two...my bracket is finished.
24.
Friday's TV Schedule Anybody see any potential upsets?
