  1. They have traded a lot of picks in the past to gain a lot of picks. I think they actually use their picks this year. Knowing the Browns they will just give their picks to someone else.
  2. Won't matter, the Browns have the Texans first and second round picks. Looks like the Browns may have two top five picks in both rounds.
  3. WOS turned in 580 last time and the cutoff was 479 to be in 3A. Maybe that number comes up to 489 or 499 (just a guess). Can't imagine WOS lost that much but we shall see. OF is one to watch and see if they drop. They were 494 last go around.
  4. I don't like it either. I don't like it when more than half a district makes the playoffs. I know they couldn't have done this, but with four teams going to the playoffs I would like to see districts have at least eight teams. I liked it at three teams, gave you a reward for winning district.
  5. We, East Chambers, are looking for one team for our Varsity Volleyball Tournament on August 10th and 12th, we had a team drop out today. Please contact Coach Baker at [email protected] if interested. Thank you!
  6. Every track meet we have attended this year has been 10+ teams. A lot of schools are either choosing to not host a meet, don't have a track, or their track is not in condition to host a meet.
  7. I'm excited for the season. I'm not as big on the additions of Aoki and Reddick as most people. One of the two would have been a huge upgrade over the others guys that were playing there, but I don't like the idea of Gattis sitting so much. He could be your DH and Beltran could play LF in that park. I guess it's good to have four people fighting for those spots though. The one thing I have learned being a Houston sports fan for my entire life, seasons that begin with high hopes usually don't turn out very well.
  8. As a PNG graduate and a teacher/coach, I have no problem with adding grey and/or black to a color scheme. However, when grey or black (which I say are good accent colors if they aren't part of your school colors) become your primary color and they aren't your school colors, it becomes an issue.
  9. Seems like every WOS game that I read about KJ Miller has a punt return for a touchdown. Does anyone know how many he has?
  10. I have not seen either team play this year. Huffman is probably the more refined team when it comes to their volleyball skills. I know in the past a lot, if not almost all, of their girls played club. I do not know if that is the case with this team. However, the straight athleticism that Silsbee has might be one of the best Huffman has seen all year. Several of the girls from Silsbee are extremely quick and can jump out of the gym. I think Huffman should be the favored team going into the game and I can see them winning in a close three, but I'm going to go with Silsbee in five. Silsbee will have to play very consistent. Did Huffman get another new coach this year? If so, where did the old coach go?
  11. Usually with a three way tie you play it out. I guess they could take the overall record against those three teams have against one another. I don't know what the District minutes say. I would assume the teams flip and two teams play Friday night and the winner of that game play the team that won the flip on Saturday.
  12. Central beat Livingston the first time they played.
  13. Because some men have style lol I like the way the new uniforms look, but it doesn't mean I have to be 100% smiles over it replacing the Purple and White. Ashley, I can see the baseball uniforms being gray on the road. Gray uniforms is just a huge part of baseball. I do remember those gray basketball uniforms. I just felt like for me growing up the purple and white symbolized PNG just at the Star did the Cowboys (obviously on a much smaller level...I hate the Cowboys btw...Oilers fan). I can't imagine a Cowboys or WOS helmet with a different decal. For me growing up and everyone else in my world the purple and white was the same thing. I have actually had a few people who did not grow up in PNG nor ever work there ask me, "what's the deal with the gray?" Maybe it was used in football back before I started paying attention in 1988-89. I don't know.
  14. That photo isn't showing up. I know you are from Groves as well. Is the entire uniform black and gray or just used as accents? I guess we will all miss the era's in which we grew up in if it was a good one... The era in which I grew up was a good one for sure.
  15. I am Being in this profession for 11 years I have seen AD's at numerous schools come in and dismiss a lot of the traditions of that school. It doesn't enrage me, but it does make me wonder, "why do that?" Being a native of Groves, it just doesn't seem right to have any color than Purple or White be a dominate color. Can you imagine the Indian Spirit with gray and white or gray and purple instead of purple and white? I remember learning how to play the fight song on the recorder in 5th grade. It was the first thing we learned how to play and it was a test grade. That song talks about the purple and white, not the purple and gray. I understand wanting to put your own stamp on a program that immolates who you are, but not at the sake of offending the traditions of a school/program. I have added things to programs that I have worked in hopes to build a program around the five pillars that I believe in, but I have always kept any tradition that belonged to a school. To many the gray may not be a big deal, but to a lot of the community it is. I no longer live in the school district and very rarely get to catch a game. However, I do miss seeing the purple on purple and white on white when I do get to watch one. I don't know coach personally and always hear good things about him. I'm just no fan of the gray even though it does look good in the color scheme department.
  16. Coach Elliott is a friend of mine. I was very happy that she ended up applying for this job. Bob Hope, you made a great hire!!!
  17. Two professional golfers that grew up playing on The Patch. One has made a very good living thus far and another on his way. Maybe Groves should open it back up!!!
  18. So if Harmony Science would have appealed and lost, would they not have been able to withdraw from being part of UIL? If they could withdraw afterwards, why wouldn't they just wait and see if their appeal was denied before withdrawing?
  19. That belief is a bit interesting because they are already assigned to District 24-4A this year for track and field. However, I do hope the appeal is approved. It would be the best decision for the kids involved in the current situation. I also understand that if you move them down to 2A it only takes a few transfers and they are immediately a powerhouse.
  20. Stopped by on my way home to watch for a little bit. Which numbers are the freshmen? Very impressed with number 5.
