Great group of athletes that have been coming through. I think Earl will end up having a great career and probably better stats. Some will probably argue Smith had the better career because he won the big one (as HS and Pros), but I would gladly be as good as either :)

It was incorporated into 3A (not sure if it was added in 4A and 5A) this year because Regionals wasn't getting the top three from each district. By the time we got to Regionals, many districts were sending their #1,3,4 or #1,2,5 and so on. Regionals should be much more competitive top to bottom with an Area meet taking place. I am a head coach at a 3A school and I love the idea of the Area meet. I know some of us would like to take our distance kids to the Woodlands Regional Qualifier, but this will make Regionals much more exciting in my opinion.

Would you happen to know when Lumberton is hosting their meet this year?

Rylie Granger also made the TGCA All-Star game for the 1A-3A game. Great Job!!! Rachel Sharp from Tarkington is also playing in the game and was voted the Volleyball 1A-3A athlete of the year. Great Job!!!

I agree less Friday meets, but why not Saturday instead of Thursday?

Nederland has a meet on Friday, February 15th.

Orangefield made it to the Regional Quarter Finals in 2008. That played H-F. That was the year there was no District 23-3A so when they beat Liberty in the first round, they had a second round bye and automatically advanced to the third round. OF has a great team this year.

I think this is the 4th straight year but the first year with win and your in for OF. I believe 3 years ago OF had to win by 9 (BC won in OT), two years ago by 5 (OF won by 2 or 3), and last year 7 or so (BC won big). This should be a great game.

21-3A Boys 1- BC 2- Silsbee 3- HF 21-3A Girls 1- HF 2- BC 3- Buna 21-3A Girls JV 1- HF 2- BC I know Nederland won the boys and girls but I don't know 2nd and 3rd. Nederland boys went 1-5 I believe and Jordan Welborne from Lumberton won the girls by almost two minutes.

He was one of the pitchers on that Little League BC team that almost made it to Williamsport. I haven't watched him throw a football but I would think he would have a nice arm.

Amazing career. I thought they missed the playoffs in 83 or 84.

I believe it was 2008. BC and OF were both 5-5 in district and OF won the play-in game.

She's a great player. As I have said before, it is great to see her on the court again.

I personally like it as far as 3A goes. I'm not sure if 4A runs into what we do at Regionals (5A doesn't seem to), but Regionals has become watered down in many events. Districts aren't sending their 1,2, and 3 in each event. Your athletes that make Regionals in 4 or 5 events or three tough running events (800m, 400m, 4x400m etc.) are pulling out of one or more events to concentrate on the events they have the best chance of making state (I don't have a problem with this). This leaves some districts sending any possible combination of their top 5 in an event. Competition level in the prelims fall a bit when this happens and sometimes it causes problems in the distance races with lapers. I think this will greatly increase the level of competition at Regionals. Instead of each district sending three, you are going to be taking the top 4 between two different districts. I like it. Also, I think we will see rivalries created between districts. Also, as Kris said, it is giving 4 kids the opportunity to move on to the next round and compete again. I'm looking forward to it next year.

Ozen won the 4x400m by 6 seconds. How fast of split did the kid who was entered in too many events run? They have a kid that can go 47-48 but I don't know his name. If he was not the one in 4 events, I think they would have still won the 4x400m but we will never know.

I think you have a lot less young men make the mistake of coming out right after high school and then not get drafted. I kind of wish they would have to stay at least 2 years. I've heard Coach K say it can be hard to recruit a kid when you know you are only going to have him for one year.

Why would they build a new school? They have one 5A and two 4A schools. I believe Ozens numbers have been dropping, I don't know about Central.

Just ran over to the staduim to watch the game but there was no game. Did it get rescheduled or do they play somewhere other than the HS?
