Understood, but I'm not a fan of "people" besmirching the good name of a great baseball coach.
Keyboard warriors who hide behind screen names and talk bad about coaches should have their.........
Now, with that being said, who is on the short list?

You and Coach85 must be butt hurt about something.
PN-G would be lucky to get him to come back.
As good a baseball coach as there is in the State.

Don’t they have a two-time state winning head coach on staff? Young man that won state back to back, then moved from the small East Texas town to the bubble for a big pay raise as an assistant.

I don't care how many deep runs Jasper makes in football... or how the other sports do. Jasper has 7 years to win it all starting last year or they need a new head football coach.
Not my words..

Really.. I have talked to many high school coaches, players and college coaches about this subject. (by the way, if you have not guessed it... I'M A HIGH SCHOOL COACH - Football and Baseball). I have had several Big D1 players that went to Baylor, Texas, Texas A&M, UH, and LSU tell me their pitch counts... What they were allowed to throw. How long they had to sit till next outing. All of these were in writing by their college pitching coach. Even seen a kid this year NOT Allowed to pitch in the First round of playoffs cause his pitching coach from LSU told him not to cause of how many he had thrown the week before. They keep tabs on kids all the time. Kids stay in contact with their college coaches all year.
I have Coached in Local and State ALL-Star football and baseball games. I have been on selection committees. I can tell you for a fact, a invite is sent out to all state players. Most Big College players do not accept the invite.

Strength, flexibility and range of motion SHOULD be mandatory in EVERY lifting program.
However, we all know that is not the case.
Pitchers should definitely be on a different regiment than other athletes. Arm care is serious business.
Too many football coaches fail other sports because they simply do not care.
There are ways to build strength and power and explosiveness that do not compromise the baseball players ability to throw or the basketball players ability to shoot. Unfortunately, too many football coaches are too lazy to find those alternative options.

Name one Texas high school sport that is bigger than football?!?! I'll wait.... If it wasn't for football programs, how many other sports would survive?!?!?!?

Thank you, I appreciate that.
What is probably ironic is that I am a football coach.
I'm just in the minority when it comes to my approach to a lot of antiquated (IMO) ideas.

I can name several 2 sport stars just this past season. All with scholarship offers in both sports.
Now one may be a bigger star in one sport over the other but they still remain stars in both sports.
2 sports stars still exist.

I think you’re splitting hairs. If a kid for instance doesn’t like the spring workouts for football while playing in season baseball and feels its detrimental to his future in baseball, then the kid and parent need to make a decision if playing football the next season is the right choice. I’m saying that decision is based on the kid and parent and who cares what the football coach thinks about the decision. No knock towards football coaches or any coach, that’s a decision between the kid and his family. It’s a hypothetical situation. Maybe I worded it wrong or you’re taking it the wrong way.

Coaches can't be in the dugout to coach, but the coaches are setting the schedule. The coaches are organizing it. The coaches are setting the lineup in advance. The coaches are determining who is pitching and how many pitches they are throwing.
Fall baseball is like 7 on 7. The coaches may not be calling he pitches or the plays, but they are in "control" of the situation and they are present and "observing."

A lot of SETX schools play fall ball as well. Hell, I remember a couple years ago, the starting QB for a local team showed up to the game after football practice still wearing his girdle and thigh pads.

I think you would be surprised.
It is not publicized, but most schools that want to be good at baseball play fall baseball.

Hmm.....
I tend to disagree.
I was a multi sport athlete in High School and am now a coach.
Kid is not going to be a very good hitter if he only hits in the spring and summer, I took BP and threw (to keep my arm in shape) during football and basketball season.
Kid is not going to be a very good QB, WR or DB if he only throws passes, runs routes or covers receivers in the fall or during a few 7 on 7 games after baseball is over.
And a kid is never going to be good shooter of the basketball if he only shoots during the basketball season.
Skills are honed, not mastered, they need to be developed and practiced repeatedly.

I'm going to agree with this.
Individual drills would be fine, but a varsity baseball player should not be involved in full pad practices during the baseball season.
Especially, if he is a contributing player on a playoff bound baseball team.
This is irresponsible and selfish of the AD/HFC.
