  1. What is the quality of baseball played in Dayton? What are the prospects for the future?
  2. More than one way to skin a cat or a Cougar, Bronco.....
  3. It has nothing to do with quality of talent, it has to do with quantity. Crosby has more kids, they play one way. The quality of talent is just as good in WOS, just not as many of them.
  4. Stupid for anybody to think that the athletes at WOS couldn't play at Crosby. Speed and athleticism translates to every level. WOS skill kids have those thinks in abundance. Now, what does Westbrook have coming back?
  5. Definition of insanity, doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. New approach, new ways, new faces and better results.
  6. I agree 100%. This should not be a short term, shot in the dark hire. I think there needs to be some fresh ideas and a new approach, so an outside hire is probably the way to go. But, with that being said, it needs to be a hire where there is long term commitment and at least the desire to stay until Championships are won. And not just district championships.
  7. Interesting hire, really good guy and a good coach. Wonder if he is going to run the true Slot-T? They have been more multiple in Bellville lately.
  8. New voice, new vision, different expectations and a commitment to excellence.
  9. If they do go outside (which I think they need to) simply to bring in some newideas and a different way of doing things, then the new coach needs to have the ability to build relationships with the coaches that are already there. An infusion of new concepts, combined with a new approach to similar schemes and a vision for how to accomplish HUGE goals is what is needed.
  10. If you are going to win Championships then discipline is a must. Silsbee has enough talent, size, speed and athletes overall that they should have 22 starters and probably 19 or 20 finishers. No need for a bunch of kids to play both ways and on special teams.
  11. I just hope it's not a retread head coach with a losing record or just above .500 record. If you can't hit a home run with a big time proven winner of a head coach, then go with a passionate, enthusiastic, coordinator that has a huge upside.
  12. Maybe that is a good thing. Potential coaches would like to know what they are getting into, rather than be blind sided by issues that they did not even know existed. Full disclosure can be a good thing, I know of a coach that has applied and information is important.
  13. I agree with you 100% and I think you are spot on in your analysis of the situation. The one thing you do not hit on, and I think the overriding factor in this thread being pulled, is that it was about SILSBEE. If it had been about any other school, especially a BISD school, there is no way it would have been pulled. Silsbee and WOS are treated with kid gloves. I love this site too and hope the admin doesn't block or ban me, but sometimes the public needs to hear thinks that are uncomfortable for some individuals to hear. And peoples opinions are ok, as long as it doesn't cross the line of slander.
  14. I guess we can agree to disagree on that one. I found in informative and enlightening. We had local people with information none of us were aware of and friends and former co-workers of the recently departed coach with insight that none us "outsiders" can have.
  15. Shame on me, i thought that the Silsbee thread was informative and productive. Somebody must have said something really bad to get it yanked.
  16. Bond issues are easy to fix. The Administrators just have to sell the need. Don't hide things and remind the senior citizens that they are locked in on their tax base and their taxes will NOT be increased. If you do these things then the majority of bods will pass. The property tax increase is minimal.
  17. I do not live in LCM, but I have attended sporting events there and the facilities across the board and the schools are in dire need of upgrading. The football field and stadium are fine, but field turf would have been a great addition to improve practice opportunities. And indoor facility would have helped all sports. Sad when the administration is not willing to invest in the kids.
  18. And for those that don't realize it, baseball, softball, track, and soccer actually get more use out of the indoor practice facility than football does. They are win/win situation for all sports.
  19. What you and most normal citizens don't understand is the bond that was passed for those buildings could have included new field turf for the stadium and a multi sport indoor/workout facility for the same tax increase. They would have just had to extend the bond another 5 to 7 years.
