The UIL has a a difficult job and there is no way to make everybody happy. I'm sure all scenarios were explored and this is the only way they could get the numbers right and balance the districts. But as far as competition, this is a good deal for West Brook. I can see the Bruins competing for a District Championship and making a deep run.

Yes, but they were all in a district playing against each other, they didn't get their door blown off until they got to the playoffs.

Beaumont ISD has done a disservice to the school, the kids, the parents and the community. The travel in the district they "probably" would have been in would not have been that bad. They would have replaced Navasota and the longest trip would have been Livingston. That is a trip both Ozen and Central have made numerous times.

My comment, you are crazy if you think a two round playoff team drops in classification and only finishes third in this district. Coldspring still has enough players to win this district.

This will be a very interesting District. Highly competitive week in and week out. Navasota and Silsbee have to be the top dogs initially.

No, jdb44, the question was never answered directly. But, I do know they graduated 11 of 27 and the majority of touches on offense are gone. I know of both of the guys I think you are talking about and both would be great . They may be better that anyone that has ever been in Colmesneil. Not sure if either want to take on the daunting task of BUILDING a program from the sub basement up.

I actually think the arguments for all involved have been supported by each others comments. We all know talent is necessary to win and especially to win championships. Good coaching can overcome some deficiencies, but not a total lack of genetic makeup. Great coaches can develop talent if given the amount of time necessary and great coaches can scheme and put the talent they do have in the best position to be successful. Now after watching some Colmesneil film, there was more talent on this years team than many are giving them credit for.

Not really, but it easier to teach him to get in the way and sometimes that is all you need. And some of the best COACHES are not the winning-est coaches, this we can agree on.

That is very true. But part of the process is developing talent, putting kids in the best position to be successful, making the most of the skills that they do have and then getting them to give you everything that they have. That is coaching, coaching is not just X's and O's.

Yes, Oldschool2, talent does matter. It is much easier to win with talent. Yes, talent beats coaching. We have all heard the argument and to some extent it is true. But, if you don't think coaching matters, then you are wrong.

Not going to argue with you, but comparing high school football to the NBA might not be the best comparison. And to correct one misconception, Tyrone Swoopes went to Whitewright High School which has a similar enrollment as Colmesneil and they were still 1-9 his senior year.

You saying Larry Haynes is bring his talents to Dayton? I had heard he is unhappy with his role at Westbrook.

Coaching matters.

The whole point is that BISD is not going to let them compete with like sized schools. They are going to force them to play up a classification and therefore put them at a disadvantage on the football field.
