EC vs Hardin game BY FAR!!

This game will be B-I-G! I am looking forward to it. I have to go with Hardin at home in this one. This district race is going to be a dilly!

This kid will probably always have some kind of attitude problem. Let's face it, if he goes JUCO he will feel like he shouldn't be there and that he is above that level of play. He will probably always think he should be pro material and that school is just a stepping stone. This has the makings of one of those documentaires like "Hoops" a few years back. He will be making a name for himself on the play grounds or on the courts of the CBA.

I for on was appalled to see the footage on the news. The bad thing was, all it showed was a cop on the floor on top of a silsbee player. Never should have been on TV. No one wins in this situation, it just makes some people more angry and things like this will happen again.

I am interested in some feedback from you local guys who know more about this situation than I do. I didn't know about the academic problems. Anyone know what this means specifically? Is it the SATs or just his grades? Any comment about his relationship with his coach? Judging by the way this article is written, this kid might be playing JUCO somewhere before he steps on the court in Austin.

I have to weigh in on this topic. I applaud the coach for sticking to his guns and I chastise the dad for not disciplining the kid. I always try to give the benefit of the doubt, especially when it comes to kids. "Hopefully" this will open this kid's eyes. I would really hate to think that he will carry attitude problems with him on into college and beyond. If that happens then he will soon be forgotten.

:o  Wow!  Coaches never made that kind of money when I was coaching!  Of course that was back in the 80's when the starting state base salary for a teacher was 11,300.  Myabe i need to go back to coaching!!

Since hearing about this kid a couple of years back and all of his attitude problems, I am wondering where his parents are in all this.  I have been around coaching and athletes all my life and I know there can be two different kinds of parents in this situation.  Either they have no control over their kid or the parents (like the kid) feel everyone owes their kid something and cannot understand why there is a problem.  Any thoughts on this.  Also, as I understand it, he is STILL not playing as of today?  How long is his suspension?

The NBA does come to mind. ;D The post about 2 4th place teams playing for a championship does answer a question of mine. Statistically how many 4th place teams have progressed past the first round? second round? Now, if they eliminated the "big school, small school" scenario and just had 5A, 4A, 3A, 2A, 1A playoffs and let 4 teams go to the playoffs how many 4th placers will make it past round one or two? Of course every once in a while there will be the cinderella team who stuggles to a 2-3 or 3-4 district record, barely makes into the playoffs and get to or wins a championship. It happens I know and the kids all deserve it and all that but what about that same 3-4 district record team who gets mauled 75-7 by the eventual state champ? And EXTEND the season two weeks?? What do you want to do? Play on new years with the college bowl games? Are you kidding?? Texas has the longest season of the US if I am not mistaken. Just my opinion here. But 4 teams is getting out of hand.

I love watching 4th place teams go to the playoffs...we see more lopsided scores in the first round! I have an idea.....EVERYONE makes the playoffs!!! There there will be no more bickering about who should and who shouldn't and the kids will all feel good about themselves because NO ONE gets left behind. It will make it a better world where no one ever fails!

After watching a lot of the video on youtube on this guy, I would have to say that if this kid was a lot more athletic then I would be much more impresses. I know being 7-7 or whatever can make you move kind of slow, I think back to the old school guys like Chamberlain and Jabbar and those guys had moves. Speed, strength AND power. This kid has size. But hey....there is a lot to be said about desire and hard work....

This kid is in college but from what I read he is not too stellar. He does average about 10 rebounds a game though. Doesn't score that much. Then again being 7-7 or 7-8 (whatever) will get you in the game somewhere.

I don't see Warren, Anahuac, or Deweyville being much of a factor in this district. One of them may surprise Hardin, EC, or Kountze and be a spoiler but I don't see any of those three challenging for a playoff spot. Now, the real battle will be the second round of this district when EC, Hardin, and Kountze meet up again. Those games should be some pressure situations. Should make it interesting. Similiar to football. Looking forward to it.

7 points in a Varsity B-ball game??!!! Are you kidding me! Who played? The 7th grade? That is totally humiliating, especially since Evadale has usually been competitive in their league in the past.

Impressive article but like has been said, attitude may be what keeps this youngster from reaching his full potential. I hope for his sake he gets his head on straight and uses this God given ability to take himself places.

I had been wondering about this kid's attitude but people on here were saying how he was so much better now that he is older. Doesn't look like anything has changed.

I had just turned 21, now who's old??!!!! Remember reading about it in the paper and wishing I had been there but was finishing up my senior semester
