If they are standing up in the student section the whole game and not blocking some body's grandmother's view then more power to them. As long as they aren't burning the ears of nearby children or the aforementioned grandmother with profanity laced cheers then more power to them. Like was menitoned above, if the noise is too loud then maybe you are too old or something. When I was in school, HS and college, I was part of some really rowdy groups. We never hurt anyone and never used profanity (at least not that I heard ;)) but we sure raised cane. This situation in Silsbee is rediculous. Let the kids have fun, as long as they aren't hurting someone else and DON'T make up rules as you go along just to put a damper on things.

Oh MY! Did Mount Carmel forget to bring the varsity team to play this game. Going back in my memory as far as I can, I don't think Cathedral ooops I mean Legacy ever scored that many points in a football game....ever. Although there was a time they might have had 76 scored against them.

i didn't realize Anahuac blew such a BIG lead at HJ. Wow. You don't see too many HS teams blow that kind of lead. To me, this sounds like Anahuac is a little too full of themselves. OK, back to the topic. EC this week against Hardin and EC next week against Anahuac.

Haven't seen Hardin play but I did see the Bucs play last week. I would like to see Hardin win this one but it will be a tough one if they do. EC by 14

Well this has definitely turned in to following rules (whether they are officially in place or made up on the fly) or not following the rules and how are kids going to react in these situations. I agree in part that the kids should have obeyed the principal when they were told to cover up at the game but then again the rebel in me says to do what they did and keep the shirts off. If one of them was my kid, I may be inclined to tell him to make his decision, stick with it and accept the consquences. The punishment certainly did NOT fit the crime here though. In my opinion here, the principal made a big mountain out of a small mole hill. I am sure there are bigger problems at Silsbee HS than shirtless kids cheering for the football team. Why stir everyone up about something so harmless? Some people let their power go to their heads. This will only serve to make the rest of the year rocky.

Well I am glad to hear they are back on. I don't care much for Calvin Murphy, he may have been a good basketball player but he is one terrible radio talk show host. There is just a lot of babbling when he is on. I enjoy the other shows on that station through out the day.

This is quite a bit overboard by the administration. Especially the punishment. Lighten up Silsbee. Talk about putting a damper on some kids innocent fun. Yes, rules are rules, but from what I read there is no rule against this kind of spirit. Seems the administration is out to make a point.

Tradition has a lot to do with winning games. Tradition enables a team to find a way to win games. I have seen several teams ahead of the "tradition rich" schools late in the game only to crumble and lose because they couldn't handle the pressure of trying to beat that team. Tradition is intimidating.

Wish those last two guys knew how to spell.....I watched Deweyville play EC the other night and I was impressed with their tenacity. They stuffed the EC run seveal times but then turned around and let them get outside and they couldn't keep up. Of course the punter should never have tried to pass either :-[. With that being said, I don't know what Kountze has but I am going to have to go with Kountze in a close one 21-14.

Oh yeah! Redshirt seniors....everyone has them on their rosters.

That was a terribly written article. It was hard for me to figure out just what he was trying to accomplish by writting it. I am from Beaumont, not a PNG or Ned. fan.

The coach screwed this one up, the kid should never have been on the team in the first place. In my opinion, there is no "consolation" knowing they won the game on the field. It still goes in the books as a LOSS.

I am going with the Hornets in this one, 42-21.

My pick still remains EC as the champ and the other two spots up for grabs between Kountze, Buna, and Hardin. I tend to lean towards Hardin second.

Politics? Do I have to know someone who knows someone to ref a game or what?

I am interested in refereeing basketball games this season in the Beaumont and surrounding areas. If anyone knows where I need to call please let me know. It would be greatly appreciated.

I think my neighborhood on my little street was the last one in the west end to get power, a neighbor lady called Entergy yesterday and asked why everyone around us had power and we didn't, they told her they thought we did !! Oops! Thankfully it came on yesterday around 5:15 PM. My prayers are with everyone in BC and towards the beach that have a lot more worries than I do.

I was just wondering about all the other area schools? BISD, HJ, Lumberton, Nederland.....whats the word on them? What about the Liberty county schools, how bad are things up there. I evaced to Fl and GA. The weather is wonderful here but I want to come home!

I think a loss to HD does not take away anything from Hardin, as mentioned, the Hardin/HD rivarly is a bitter one and it can go either way sometimes (unfortunately it has gone HDs way most of the time). Hardin is no fluke and I think they will rise above the injuries and win this one.

Who is hurting for Hardin? Just wondering if these injuries will slow the Hornets down. I am going with the Hornets in this one. Is Go-rilla a Hardin hater or what? I guess a 9-3 records last year was a fluke?
