  1. did liltex just wake up or something. Kind of waxing poetic there. He have some kind of revelation?
  2. There was a thread on this site not too long ago about how big a part does tradition play when a team takes the field. Well, in my opinion, when EC takes the field there is only one goal in mind and that is a District Championship and no matter what, they find a way to win it and the other teams find a way for EC to win it as well. Now I know they haven't won the district every year but they have been in the thick of things all the time. To put them 5th is a BIG mistake.
  3. Way to go Hardin Hornets. Like someone mentioned, this is the first ever playoff "win" in the school's history. I guess Hemphill had no answer for the passing game. Good luck next week!
  4. Legacy played a good first half and seemed to be in complete control. I think they came out the second half thinking they had this one in the bag but TX School for the Deaf had other ideas. Those kids had lots of speed and didn't give up. I was impressed with Legacy, saw them practice in Aug and never would have figured they would get this far. Great job Coach Cobb.
  5. Continue on making history tonight Raiders by not only PLAYING in your first playoff game but WINNING the first playoff game in history!!! You know what they say about luck.....Luck is when preparation meets opportunity.
  6. Just my opinion here, only saw this kid play as a soph. I know his skills are D-1 material but is his head, meaning is his attitude, able to cope with big time college BB? I hope so and I wish the best for this kid, from what I understand, one of the best in country.
  7. I think the history and/or tradition can play a huge part in motivation of current players and future players. Wanting to be a part of that history is a big influence on younger kids. Now, talk about pressure, there will no shortage of it at a school with a long history of success. Each year the high school kids will feel pressure to carry on. This is where they learn to be dedicated to what they want to accomplish. it definitely reveals the character of a kid. When a school has a strong history/tradition it can be a powerful motivational tool when going into a game. i have seen a team win by tradition alone some times. There other team just sort of crumbles in the clutch because of the aura of success that a traditionally tough team carries. A few years back I saw a local team crumble after dominating for three quarters over a team with a long, strong tradition. Things got tough and they fell apart. In his post game speech, the coach of the team with the tradition made the comment that his team would find a way to win and the other team would also find a way for his team to win as well. I feel like tradition and history is worth a TD or two in football or maybe 10+ points in basketball. The same things can hold true except on the flip side for a team with a poor tradition or losing tradition. They just never feel like they can get over the hump and win with conisitancy. This is a killer of programs. As far as history and the coaching profession, if you win you better be able to keep winning or it will be time to find another job. Ok, just my opinion here!
  8. So.....is the St. Pius coach cleaning out his office today? Was there a U Haul in the front yard Saturday morning? What was he thinking????
  9. Good Luck EC and Hardin!!! Hardin, you need to bounce back big! EC, man you guys looked fast. You aren't very big so you are going to have to out quick them!!!
  10. Thanks for that post FPHS78! Yea, looks like Legacy plays TX School for the Deaf this Friday. Go Warriors!!!
  11. Legacy doesn't "recruit" as much as it offers an alternative to students in the public schools. Most of the kids that are "recruited" for football or basketball are offered a chance to play (not to mention a christian education) rather than sit the bench at their respective schools. Nothing against the public school programs. We have had some really good kids come through Legacy/Cathedral over the years who just were not good enough to play at the 4A/5A level. Now, by playing in the bigger stadiums in the area, especially for the playoffs, this offers more more attention from the community and an opportunity to attract kids. Like was mentioned, there are plans for a stadium at the school. A year or two and there will be no need to play at Greenie stadium OR WB or Zaharias. Go Warriors!
  12. I am not sure, must be politics involved, but it is a shame that BISD won't let the Warriors use either of the bigger stadiums. No, they wouldn't fill Durley or Zaharis stadiums up but that shouldn't matter. Greenie stadium has seen its better days. Could it be a bit of jealousy? BISD coach comes to Legacy and takes them to the playoffs while West Brook is the only BISD school going to the playoffs. Before anyone goes saying something about TAPPS vs UIL....playoffs are playoffs, no matter where you go or what you say. The Warriors won five in a row to make it. WAY TO GO WARRIORS!!
  13. EC looked very impressive with Thomas' "supporting cast". They played well on both sides of the ball. They had Hardin's O figured out. Great pass rush. I was disappointed with Hardin's performance but I am glad they are off to the playoffs. Good Luck to both teams
  14. Going to Winnie for the big 2A showdown. Hopefully will see some old friends and aquaintances. Should be a barn burner! Hopefully anyway. Will be listening to Channel 6 on the radio on the way home to hopefully learn that Lumberton knocked off Nederland.
  15. I believe this site has done a lot to pump everyone up for one team or another in the area. Just by reading the posts here it has gotten me all fired up about tonight's game. The aniticipation is amazing. I have been telling my wife(she is not from around here but teaches at Lumberton now) about all the things people are wrtiting on here about this one game and she is amazed at excitiement. I am pulling for Lumberton all the way. Although I am going to another game ;D. Got some ties to the EC Hardin game. I will be listening to the radio on the way home hoping the Raiders get the job done!
  16. Good Luck Hornets and Bucs. May this be a good clean brawl for small town football with bragging rights and playoff spots hanging in the balance. Any truth to the rumor that TT has a broken toe from the Buna game? Anybody know his status? I want no excuses from either team after this one! Hope the referees read this too. 8)
  17. 10 hours till game time! I am exicited about this one. I have a question. Is TT going to carry the basketball team too? What about track? Prom king? UIL state literary champ? Is he speaking at graduation too???? ;D Just kidding. So much has been made about him and his ability. He is a great player. Good Luck Bucs and Hornets!
  18. Thought I was watching a basketball game last night on FSN with Allen and Plano East playing. 50+ total points in the first half alone. High scoring affair, fun to watch since I didn't have a personal interest in the game.
  19. This site really brings out the best....and worst in some people. I am looking for a well fought game by both teams with a lot on the line, especially EC. FORGET about who beat who last week or the week before or the week before that. Both teams are going to come ready to play and I believe they will all leave it on the field. Hopefully, tomorrow night about 10:30 there will be praise and congratulations spread around and not excuses, name calling or finger pointing. Best of luck to everyone! Hardin in a tough one 42-35
  20. Legacy has been playing O'Connell, Faith West, and Northeast for the last few years (as Cathedral of course) and always been competitive with them. Northeast has been pretty tough in Basketball more so than football. I don't know anything about the other four. Hopefully they can continue building, they are losing a lot of seniors this year and be competitive in this new league.
  21. That looked like a great competition, sounded pretty good too. Next time get the camera on the field, too much fan interference.
  22. Let's don't turn this into a trashing of either kid. It is always good to hear about a well rounded athlete who is also a well rounded kid. I hear good things about Thomas and hopefully the same will hold true for the Johnson kid. It will be exicitng to see either one playing on TV on a Saturday afternoon and be able to say, "I saw him in high school." Best of luck to the Johnson kid. If he is better than Thomas more power to him because he will be one heck of an athlete.
