  1. I wonder if there is a Samoan connection up there in Euless Trinity. They have a large population of Samoans and those kids are some great athletes, boys and girls.
  2. The Marsh kid's dad was a big strong young man back in mid to late 80's. Not that tall actually, if you call 6-1 or 6-2 not that tall but had a body a greek god would be envious of. He could dunk a basketball with no problem and flat run over people, ran over a few hurdles for me too. I have heard his kid is pretty talented too. I am still pulling for those Hornets!
  3. I knew this thread was going to grow big! I can't wait to see the score Friday night! I am still pulling for the Hornets. I coached there in the 80's and we played DV a couple of times, always a close, physical, game. Sounds to me like the Hardin QB will light up the skies on Friday. By the way, that Marsh kid's dad was a HOSS back in the day! Wish I could make it to the game! GO HORNETS!!
  4. There is a town in eastern Illinois, will have to get the name from my wife later but their team name is the Corn Jerkers. True story! No lie! How could I make something up like that?! How about the Trent Gorillas and just to set the record straight, Frisco was the "Coons" not the Racoons.
  5. Anyone from South Park? I would love to see some of those guys names on here.

  7. Whooo Boy this thread is going to heat up by Friday. I am exicted for my Hornets, sounds like Coach Haynes has gotten everyone on board. I kind of go by what someone said earlier, D'ville's been playing some weak 1As so this will definitely be a BIG test. I am looking forward to seeing this score Friday night. I think it will be Hardin 40 - Deweyville 30
  8. Sounds like the Warriors made it a good game. Way to go!
  9. He played last week against Florida. He is a LONG way from Tatum Texas! Great job by Andy Evans and the staff there at Tatum for preparing this kid for a great future, even if it is for Tenn.
  10. Heck, EC's winning tradition is worth 2 TDs right off the bat so HJ is starting out in the hole. My vote, as if I needed to say, is for EC
  11. SLC. That Miami team was FAST! But Carrol has the talent and the tradition to go after another state championship
  12. It surprised me to see this coach say these things and call some of his boys out. Don't get me wrong, I agree 100%. Way to go coach! The true players will step up this week.
  13. Well I knew I would get a rise out of some of you! ;D Now don't shoot me, I am just the messenger. I did think it was interesting judging by some of the statistics I have seen on this site of all the local area teams. Number of state titles is a good measuring stick but not the high water mark I would use. Anybody else agree or disagree?
  14. I just read this article and noticed there are no SE Texas teams on the list. I was wondering what some of you WOS and mid county fans thought about it. Take a look. [Hidden Content] I thought for sure WOS would be on there but then again, there is quite a history compiled here with these teams. Just looking for some input.
  15. Awesome story! Just to know someone that age is still in that good of shape it the best part of the story. Best of luck to him! Just think of the wisdom he can bring to a bunch of young guys.
  16. Forgot about Facing the Giants, you are right, a great inspirational movie
  17. Remember the Titans, Brian's Song, All the Right Moves, Rudy Does anyone remember the 70's TV movie "White Tiger"? Football movie about a white qb at Grambling starring none other than Bruce Jenner (of Olympic fame) as the white QB.
  18. Love all those remarks from guys over 45!!! Oh the memories!
  19. Real life stories always make good movies (in my opinion) if done right. I look forward to this one
  20. I tell you what, my first day in pads was "only" 35 years ago. I hear people say it is hotter now than it was back then..... we only got one water break and that included 2 dixie cups of water for each of us so I think it was HOTTER back then! But I would have to say, the biggest thing I learned was that my 140 pounds was no match for those 200+ pound linemen types when we did bull in the ring or the hamburger drill!!!
  21. Don't know much about WH or HD's "defence" but I heard their "defense" was pretty salty.
  22. Six man football has the 45 point rule, I think it is 45 anyway. If you are up by 45 at the half then the ball game is over. Some times it seems like we need that around here in regular 11 man football. But you know in the old days, you took your beating and went home and learn to deal with it. Now a days we don't want to demoralize the kids. HMMMM I can see it both ways I guess.
